I finished my novel last week, well by finished I mean hit 50K. I am now writing my second one, leaving the first one in the middle of a scene so I can carry on with it come December.

I am hoping to come to the write in on Sunday, but plans often change at the last minute with me!

Has anyone else finished?

Gosh if I can't even think of a signature, how the heck am I going to write a novel.

Finally! Had trouble finding the motivation to write this week but I made it anyway:) Now, having hit the 50k mark I realise that I still have qutie a ways to go in the story. So I guess the rest of this week will be about trying to bring it all to a reasonable conclusion.

Well done both, mine is no-where near finished yet. I stopped mid scene so I could pick it up quite easily when it comes to the editing stage

Managed it this year, reached 50k Sunday evening 10 to 10 in the evening. Thoroughly enjoyed it and now I want to carry on and finish it off. I reckon I need another 20k to finish the first draft, so thats the aim for 30/11 now.

I hit 50K just before midnight. I plan on keep writing until Friday to finish off my storyline but it feels great to have the purple bar.

I hit 50k this morning just two days ahead of schedule.

I'm holding off the champagne though. My novel isn't finished and probably needs another 20k words, so i'm just going to carry on writing 2k words every morning until it's done.

Can't help grinning, though. :-D

Hooray! I did it! Next job: the edit...there is a lot of editing to do, but right now I'm going to put it to one side and do all the things I'm supposed to be working on, then come back to it with a fresh brain (assuming it recovers) ready to start work again. Skimming through, it's not quite as bad as I feared - a little 2-dimensional in places, but nothing that can't be fixed.

See you next year!

Well thank goodness that is over!

I had a weird experience as I was typing the last paragraph. I must have dozed off at the keyboard (it's midnight), and when I came to, I found had typed, "and he fell asleep on the desk".

That was the most difficult nanowrimo I've done so far, and the novel I've written is by far the worst! I'm not entirely sure I'm going to be doing this again next year, but I've got the next 11 months to change my mind and forget just how hard it is.

Well done to all the other Birmingham winners, and best of luck to everyone else looking to finish in the next couple of days.

I did it! 33 minutes after midnight I hit that evil little wordcount button and suddenly found that I no longer hated it!
Nano seems to disagree with me on my wordcount but since it says I have more than I thought I shall not complain. My story isn't quite finished yet so I'm hoping for another few thousand to round it off.

There is an amazing feeling when you go and check on the spreadsheet you used for hours of procrastination at the beginning of the month and realise that, including days off due to real life having no respect for Nano, you've finished with a week in hand. Maybe I should actually set myself something more of a challenge next year...maybe I really am going crazy!

Janet! Don't forget to load the manuscript into the Word Count Validifier on your edit page! Otherwise it won't be counted! :o

I'll more than likely be doing it again next year. I always get a nagging urge to start writing in the autumn, I don't know why, so I just store it all up for the start of November.

Well done everyone, its good to see that so many of us made it. I can't think of any reason that I wouldn't take part again next year, especially as I enjoyed myself so much more this, my second time around. This year I beat my word count from last year. Next year I shall hope to do the same again but also aim to write something that doesn't make me cringe too much when re-reading it. It's good to have a goal...

Hi folks! Well done for finishing.

This was my first year to complete, but unfortunately we went on holiday before the manuscript word counter appeared and have just got back today...Of course, it's gone now. Not to worry though, I'm just glad to have finished.

I haven't looked at my novel for a week now and hope to start editing tomorrow. Will it be as bad as I'm expecting?

All the best,
Janet.
