You've busted your ass all month. Whether you wrote 100 or 100,000 words, you deserve a celebration! This is always a kick-ass party, featuring awards, readings, games, tasty food and beverages, and karaoke! We're adding a new spin on the traditional TGIO this year, it will be a themed party (the top secret theme will be announced, stay tuned!). For now, we will tell you this: attire is fancy/formal dress (hippo optional).

Date: Saturday, December 1st

Time: Start time 4:30pm (As always, please do NOT arrive early!)
Program will start at 6:00
Note:all under-18 types will have to depart by 10:00pm, whether Wrimo or Novel-Adjacent. (Sorry dudes, it's the law!)
Over-18 types with valid photo ID will be able to stay until midnight

Location: We will be at the Boston Pizza at 10854 82 Avenue.
Whyte ave is easily accessible by bus, and by car (although parking can be a pain).
Do not go in the main restaurant entrance. There is a second door to the left of that labeled "BP Party Room". Go in that door. Go downstairs. Enjoy.
The trip planner for specific busing instructions is here
If you're driving, you can get personalized instructions from your house! Go herefor that.

Please make sure to make travel arrangements both to and from the party. A carpool thread will be started at a later date. (Finding you a ride home is not on the ML job description. Work this out in advance, please.)

Cost: Mr. Bear will be in attendance. We will also be asking for a suggested donation of $5 to cover the cost of renting this room. (It's pricey but worth it!) And again, if that's a hardship for you to pay, let us know ahead of time and we'll work something out! As every year, you will be purchasing your own food and drinks from the BPs menu (therefore no outside food or drink, thanks).

What to bring: Fancy dress-wear (think awards show but less skanky)
Karaoke-singing voices
Novel-adjacent persons are welcome! (Please RSVP for them as well so we have accurate numbers.)
A short excerpt of your novel, should you wish to read one. There will be a 2 minute time limit, which will be strongly enforced.

RSVP: in this thread. There is a limit to the number of people allowed in the room (fire code). Many people have not been bothering to RSVP and that makes it really difficult for us to plan. If you do not RSVP and show up, we can't guarantee that you'll be allowed in.

I'll be there. Though no excerpt for me, unless someone else wants to read it (me and public speaking do not go well together; there would likely be much mumbling and stuttering).

There goes my plan to wear my uber-goth-boots-of-doom. Oh well! I do have one 'awards show-esque' dress.

I'll certainly be there, probably without novel excerpt. All my interesting passages aren't exactly work safe.

That's a good point, Chloe - please ensure excerpts are PG rated. We are also happy to arrange for readers if you don't want to read your own excerpt.

And we do encourage creativity in your interpretation of formal dress. :) Uber goth boots of doom can go with a pretty dress! (It can't be any weirder than, like, a swan dress, right?)

RSVPing for myself and the missus! :) Can't wait to hang out with everyone again - these parties are always such a blast!

I also volunteer to help read excerpts of those who don't feel up to public speaking. :)

PG . . . non-skany . . . Dang-nubit, there goes my entire theme of the year! And here I was laying down my bazookas in the name of science and exploration!

I do have a formal dress. Very . . . soft. Ish. Hmm. So guys need to wear suits? Niiiice.

I'm RSVPing for me and a NAP. And could I have a reader? All anonymous like?

OMG! that could be a game!! Guess-who-wrote-this.

Karaoke. (With no accent of terror this time, yo)

See ya there!

I'll be there too! A bit late however. It is my grandfather's 82nd birthday.

I don't think I have any formal wear that fits, but I'm going to show up anyway. Nyaaah. And my wife will doubtless be wearing her finest maternity wear.

I'll hopefully be able to bus in after work, and if worse comes to worse I'll have to phone my mum to beg for a ride. D: It takes me like an hour to get from my house to the university, and it would take me an additional fifteen minutes to get to Whyte Ave... but it's doable. :3 Rock.

I plan on being there. I'm going to see if I can talk my wife into coming as a novel-adjacent-person. She's terrified of karaoke though.

I am GOING TO MAKE IT TO THIS EVENT COME HECK OR HIGH WATER. With one or the other of my parents. Ughhh. Of course, with my luck, somehow it won't work, but I'm going to RVSP anyway because I got screwed out of all the other Nano events this year. =( (So me + mom, or me getting dropped off by dad, but we'll go with me + parent for now in RVSP)

How formal? I don't really... own... "proper" formal gear. Homeschooled, didn't have proms, never finished my grad dress... and my personal choices of dress clothing are a bit more conservative. I don't own any "Oscars" suitable swanky black dresses... and I certainly won't finish my grad dress in time! (snrk)

I shall be there ... no matter the cost.
With a Novel-Adjacent Person (is it right to call them adjacent when they're taller than you and outweigh you even though you can still beat them up?)

And I'll even wear pants. 'Cause apparently EPS doesn't like me without something covering that region. Never bothered my roommates at all ... I think.

Maybe next year I'll have to be Pantsless Ninja.

And this thread went up early ...

I will try very very very hard to get that day off of work, though no guarantees because we have christmas parties galore up until just before christmas, so if I do make it, expect me and a novel adjacent person.

I hope I can make it...

And they say I'M bad.

It's PG13. Wear the pants--at least until 10pm. Then you have to consult SJ and superninja and ChloekEvil and all the other ladies. Arnold may have a say too. EgoAnt too of course.

I"m RSVPing for myself and my husband who's also nanowrimo-ing. It may end up being just me though, (cuz he's not one for these types of things), or none of us if we can't get a babysitter.

In formal wear? Not fair as there are many dresses that cold be mussed. How about this: you don't wear pants and we just take a lot of pictures and laugh for many years like we did with Patrick--who now is keeper of the swag. Crud. Um, I mean admire the golden non-pantswearing men who may or may not also have a shirt on their chest. Or a bathrobe.

Do not withold the swag dear Swag Man when I am so bloody close to 25k. AKA The Swag Count.

PANTS!!!

Kriggi and I will be there, but we won't be able to arrive until after 7-ish. I'm performing at the Festival of Trees at 6.30 and we're doing a 20-minute programme. Then we have to get the kiddies home and put them to bed.

If there's a "no-lates" policy, please tell us now...

Hubby and I will be in attendance, but not until around 8pm or so. Babies need to be in bed before we leave, for the mental health of all concerned, lmao!
