I'm just wondering how many of us have written fanfic in our time? I have some, it's actually set in South East Queensland so people would, I think, recognise the locations. I sort of consider my fanfic as practice run for writing actual novels, you know, the stories got better and longer over time.

Yeah, when I think of the first version of my fanfic, I tend to cringe with horror at what I'd written. But over the years I rewrote pretty much every story until I reached the point where I could sit back and say, yeah, I'm proud to have written that.
So I'm pretty proud of my fanfic *now*, I'm quite happy with those stories.

My NaNo Novels are fanfiction. More or less. They're parody, but I'm told they still count as fanfic, and who am I to argue? (They've been drifting away from their starting point over the years...) Just to show I sorta know what the fanfic communities are like: I guess they'd be AU with more than a few OC. ;-)

Having said that, I've been keeping up with some of the fanfic goings-on recently, and feeling the urge to try my hand at some "real" fanfic... Maybe next month! ;-)

I started with fanfic, which basically consisted of me rewriting movies and games whatnot to include my own character (a written representation of what I wanted to be/what I was, etc.), and eventually decided to scrap the fanfics and move to original, and now three of my stories have their own fanfics. :D

Hee... I've written a *lot* of fanfic. So far in... lemme think... X-Men, X-Men Movieverse, Harry Potter, Firefly/Serenity, Smallville and I know I'm forgetting one. Search under 'Dyce' at ff.net for the HP, Firefly and Smallville stuff, but the X-fic was years ago and I'm not sure where it would be up now. I started about ten years ago, so I'm quite a dino now!
