Hello Albuquerque writers,
Upon seeing the Santa Fe TGIO thread, I got a wonderful idea of opening this thread. I'm so creative. No wonder I have cliche writing, wooden characters, and plot twists seen from a mile away. Okay, back to subject at hand. The TGIO party is "Thank God It's Over" Party held after the mad dash of November. Last year, we had a pot luck at a writer's house. Other ideas had been meeting for dinner, for coffee, etc. This year, any idea is great. Although, it needs to be an all-ages affair.
First of all, not everybody will be able to make it. So, there's no reason we can't have more than one party. More parties are always good.
Second, we'll need to establish a date and time for the event(s). Since Dec 1st through 3rd fall on a weekend, that's pretty nice.
Third, we can discuss via this forum and at write-ins as well. Tabulating votes might be difficult via this forum. So, if a consensus is formed, I encourage a writer to post the event so all will know about it.
Good luck, everybody, on the stretch run!
Jim

Are the regular meetings still on, as per the post three weeks ago?
Amazingly enough, I find I am not only not otherwise busy but actually in town at the time of a meeting ... even though the month is nearly over. Assuming all goes well, I plan to be at the Frontier at 3 this afternoon -- it's in the John Wayne Room, right?
As for the TGIO party, I have a prior engagement Dec. 1 (anybody want to join the Rio Grande Sailing Club at the Turtleback Mountain Resort in Elephant Butte?) and will probably still be at the lake Dec. 2, but a Dec. 3 thingie might work if it's late enough in the day.

Hello,
I'm not sure if I have any more words to give this evening after finally catching up to where I should be, but I'll try....
I have to say that I'm am at the whims of my final exams, class projects, and work. Right now Dec 1, 2 and 3 actually look like they may work as those are the only days in the coming weeks that aren't completely filled with appointments and group study sessions.
I'd be there on any of those nights, just forgive me if I'm spouting French or bumping into walls while reading about research methods.
As for a place or type of get together? I'd like to suggest St. Clair Winery. They have a back room that we could use (if it is available - may be tough with holiday parties). They are not super cheap, but I've gone and just had an appetizer and soup and it was enough for me. It's also located not far from UNM and the rest of Albuquerque (just off of rio grand blvd near old town). and for those of us over 18, we can choose to share some bottles of wine.
Other thoughts?

I'd be ok with that - I could call and see if any of those dates were open just so we have the info
the food is great as well.

The only day they have the backroom open is the 3rd - and we can have the whole room if there are 35 of us - so... I guess I need to know soonish if that works, and for how many people - (we can still meet there if there are less, but we can't have the entire room)
I've gone ahead and reserved it and told them I'd call back and cancel tomorrow - so! feedback time.

Oops, calendar lag ... attribute the lapse to wild sexual fantasies. It's Dec. 2 that I can attend if the party is late enough in the day -- I have to work Monday night.

Alrighty - multiple parties are a good thing, right?
So, I canceled the entire back room, and just made dinner reservations for 630 on Dec 3rd - we'll see how many can make it
and the reservation is under the name Nanowrimo - figured everyone could remember that, even as brain dead as we may be by then.

This post is reminder that an Albuquerque TGIO Party is being held at St. Clair Winery at 6:30PM on Monday, Dec 3, 2007. St. Clair Winery is on (or just off of) Rio Grande Blvd, south of I-40 and north of old town. It's on the west side of the street. Come one, come all.
