WOOHOO!

Now here is an incentive to finish if ever there was!

You are cordially invited to:

The biggest, most star-studded night of the year,

The 2007 N'Oscars Ceremony
(Novelling Oscars, that is)

to be held at

The Garden Bar
Darlington Arts Centre

at
8pm
Saturday 1st December

Think gold statuettes, red carpets, melodramatic speeches and cocktail dresses, not to mention nervous anticipation and over-enthusiastic paparazzi!

Glamorous dress is highly appropriate! Partners, guests and Nanowrimo Widows very welcome as well.

N'Oscars official statuettes for award winners, specialist categories are considered too - not just for 50k winners! If you wish to be considered for a special category award, please post an excerpt of your novel on your Nanowrimo profile for our highly impartial judges to peruse (categories to be announced at a later date, bribery of judges is actively encouraged).

Please please RSVP on here or directly to my email, and let me know if you'd like to bring any plus-ones so I can get a rough idea of numbers.

(I've bitten the bullet and hired the room, so a contribution towards costs would be muchly appreciated too - not much, about £3 per person? *looks pathetically embarrassed* Any profit will go to the Nanowrimo charity)

Ok, categories will be posted by the end of the day (I hope)! It just requires conflab with my judge (who isn't me, by the way!)

Hils, I'll call you later, but of course you are welcome to stay, and bring lighting. And D.

Transcriber, don't worry about the tux, ball gowns are perfectly acceptable!

Bel - I won't be at home until sunday as have been roped in to the video team covering the big Scout celebration at the millenium dome.
downside is that I have 25,000 still to go and am doing brekkie shifts all next week. Argh!

Apologies in advance for being unable to update wordcount tommorow.
Dunno if D can come - he's working sat morning, not sure about the sunday.

YAY! Me and Rachel will be there, without the sprog so we can drink :D. I want to put myself up for the best erotic scene. Or person with the most spare time. I'll have to try and change my excerpt tomorrow.

Can I pencil Bill and myself in?

Don't know if I can get a babysitter, but we would love to be there! So if I can give a provisional yes, then I'll let you know slightly nearer the time. :) … Oh, Lord it's next week! *cringing copiously at the thought of getting a last minute babysitter*

Uh, I suppose I should finish this novel now, huh?

Sorry, I think I've seen The Lion King 2 a few too many times:-

(Pumbaa falls on Kiara) Timon: "Pumbaa, let me define BABY-SITTING!"

LOL. I love that film! :)

So, have we got categories yet?

I would have boosted my wordcount by now, but I'm enjoying letting my inner-ed run free for a while. Actually my inner-ed and my 'storyman' are having a bit of a Highlander-style, battle-to-the-death sword fight. I think my 'storyman' may be winning. :)

Hmm, I wonder if I can fit that in somewhere towards the beginning of my novel - before Bailey went psycho I mean... ;P

Ok dudes, here's some categories. I am in Sheffield at the moment and can't unfortunately conflab with the Judge at present so this is subject to change when I get back from university and reenter the real world (this doesn't happen often!)

Since there are so many of you finishing, I don't think having too many special categories is really necessary. Every 50K winner will get an award, and there will be the Hyperactive Smugness Award for the person who finished first (!)

Other categories are:

Best Sex Scene (in any genre)

Sci-Fi Prize

Prize for Most Original Randomness

Most Pathetic Word Count.

Just to encourage the winners - I might do a price for the biggest overall word count too if anyone fancies carrying on after 50k, for Special Contribution To Word Wars or something....

I'd like to actually celebrate the novels themselves in whatever form - for many it might actually be the first time you reread what you have spent the last month frantically scribbling. If you want to print them out - or at least, extracts of them and bring them along, then we'll give a table at the N'oscars to display your works, have a look at other people's, etc.

Also, we want SPEECHES people, be prepared to talk a bit about your novel, about the experience of doing Nanowrimo etc Sob, thank your parents and the guy who does your dry cleaning.... DRAMA!! It won't be a huge event, its a very informal thing so don't be scared about talking in front of the group... we're pretty friendly!

Finally, 50k winners and Noscars nominees - if you want your name on your trophy or your certificate, you are going to have to let me know what your real names are, otherwise I will have to use your screen names. Email me if you don't want to introduce yourself publically on the net.

that's all folks! see ya soon

And if anyone wants to have a look at what went on at last years N'oscars, here's some pretty pics from my rather self-indulgent blog.

You all have a fun time.
My extract is posted as an example of writing while asleep. If you have the time and inclination I'd like to know what you think - have read a few and some are very good.
Anyhoo - was fun - will keep a weather eye posted - take care.

I did mean post them on your own profiles on here, that way we can see them only if we actually look.

Right, one more thing for all you winners: (Jurgen, I am including you since I'm confidentl you'll do that last 999 words today!!)

You will of course be getting your super dooper winners certificates at the N'oscars ceremony. I just need to know, do you want your real names on them? Or your screen names?
I know Jurgen's and Becibear's and Rumbababaa's and Doc Hilda's real names from emails etc but do you want those or will you ever be henceforth known as Becibear?

And also, are your novels going to be immortalised with the titles you have given them on this site? I will gladly calligrapher them on to your certificate if desired.

please let me know ASAP! ta loves. see ya tomorrow! Its gonna be faaaaaaaaabulous.
