OK, here we go:

The penultimate official challenge involves an animated rock.

Now this rock can be in any form - a lump of granite, or a perfectly sculpted statue. it can happen in the 'real' bit of your novel or in a dream sequence.

There is only one rule - its coming to life (and what it says, if it speaks) must form a solid part of the plot.

Easy, no?

Now this one really tempts me.

Given my plot, it would be really easy too. Belisama, my omnipotent deity character, would have no trouble bringing a statue to life. Or even animating an entire mountain range and it's exactly the sort of thing She would do, too. Trouble is, knowing me, if She animates a mountain range it would extend the plot by about another 50,000 words. At least. I don't need that. :-)

I. Must. Be. Strong. I. Will. Resist.

Ah superb! What I originally had planned involved a much larger special effects budget but I think this will work out rather better actually. Plus it's given me a quite unpleasant fate for the "bad guy" which I was having a problem with. What's the deadline for this one?

Ha. I've already started a bit where my MC is living as a hermit, and in the bit where I left off, he is staring at a rock. It would be a relatively simple thing for it to start talking to him. Nice.

Deadline for this one will be next Thursday evening. Shall we go to the Caxton again?

Oh, and my excerpt's up already. It's a bit rough around the edges, but it's there.

If it's a Thursday and I've met my word count I'll do my darndest to be there.

You've had that excerpt up for ages =)

It is nice though ... I just set mine up for writing on Monday and it's a lot less pleasant.
