I'm getting ready to send out a regional email, and I figured I should start a discussion thread so it will be here for the 1300+ subscribers to chime in on.

The Pan Bay TGIO is Saturday, December 1st from 7-10pm at Root Division.

Would you like to have a San Francisco only party, Saturday December 8th or Sunday December 9th?

Note: The SF TGIO is now aimed for January. as of 11/24/07 or so.

Where? When? What? Who? Huh?

Speak up folks!

Rob,

I think that's a fantastic idea! In terms of venues, I'm not sure what "type" of festivities these typically are other than quaffing some drinks and talking writing, so it definitely depends upon how many attendees you expect. We could try for Mars bar in SoMa or 12 Galaxies in the Mission if there are decent numbers of people. Regardless, I do like the idea of an SF-only get together.

Cheers,
Rich

Yes. The Brickhouse has always accommodated us in the past, but I'm receptive to any location within the city.

I love the idea of an SF-only party, but I'll be out of town December 4-14. Oh and I think my boss is doing his annual thing on the 15th. So if you wanted to wait till a bit later in December.... :-)

I like doing a post-nano party a little later on. It is so busy right afterwards, and we have teh pan-bay. Maybe a few weeks after that, we can reconvene.

I still want to get a regular thing going, maybe once a month dinner or beers or something to keep us chatting.

I chatted with Shannon (and Kevin, who is not yet an ML (= ) today, and I think the timing is bad for a December event.

* First weekend is Pan-Bay
* Second weekend is bad for Shannon
* Third weekend is bad for me
* Fourth weekend is Christmas
* Fifth weekend is New Year's

and suddenly we're out of weekends.

So here's an idea,...

* January 16 (Wednesday), 2008, maybe at the Brickhouse... a dinner meeting (of the style we used to have year-round) and celebration of our 2007 Nano accomplishments.

We could make this the start of a year-round resurgence... we used to do a weeknight dinner at Brickhouse and a weekend writing event at Royal Ground every month, and we could do that (or more) again this coming year.

What do you folks think?

I'm expecting to be a lot more available this coming year than so far this year, with the job in Potrero Hill and the predictions that I'll be moving back up to the City in the spring. :) So hopefully I can help rally the year-round crowds again.

If we can't arrange a December party, the Jan. 16 option sounds good. i won't even be able to attend the Pan Bay party, because my office Christmas party is the same night. Although, given that there is karaoke involved in the latter event, I can't tell you how strongly I am tempted to skip out.

January 16? A Wednesday? Gosh, I mean, Saturdays are all right, just not in December. :-)

I could do the 16th, or even the 19th. What say all?

I'd love a TGIO party for SF-wrimos, b/c I won't be here for the Pan-Bay TGIO on Dec. 1st :-(

The Brickhouse on Wed Jan 16th sounds good to me, as it looks like the holiday season has everyone really booked for December.
Altho maybe we could do it in December if we met during the day instead of evening? like a weekend afternoon?
just a thought...

Anyway, regular get-togethers throughout the year would probably be fun and maybe even inspiring :-)

As far as I know, Jan 16 is good for me.

And yes definitely on the monthly meetings.

I usually work on Wednesday nights, so probably would have to take a pass.

Wow - we're all busy?! Once NaNo is finished, we should have all the time in the world - heh heh heh!

I cannot make Jan 16, but I'm interested in the informal get togethers between now and next NaNo.

Keep me posted, though!

Cheers,
Rich

I'll send a note via sfnanos about planning the January gathering...

It will go out after December 1.

If you haven't registered on sfnanos.org, you should probably do so. :)

Yes, I'd love one, and January works best for me, although many blessings on you lot if you do it in Dec.
I didn't make 50,000 -- only got half-way there -- and am very interested both in finishing and then figuring out next steps.
I'm a professional writer, but not a novelist, and one of the things my very first Nano has taught me is that I CAN write novel-length, and maybe there is a future here -- but I'm not sure how to develop that future, and I'm hoping wiser folks can advise me :-)

January 16th works for me...I did not make any write-ins this year, so I am looking forward to seeing everyone.

We missed you, even with the shiny new username (I think that's you)... and hopefully we'll get things going on a twice-a-month basis again starting in January.

Keep an eye on sfnanos.org for details on the upcoming events. :)
