thanks
I honestly thought I had set myself up for failure this time
when I signed up to do this last month
after all I don't write much of anything these days
but if I can do it, so can lots of others
go team go ~:^)
I just made to 51,127. I still have lots of plot left so for the next few days I will be expanding and complexifying things. I'll be doing this again next year for sure.
My mantra is "Finish something, so you know you can". Have it pasted to the monitor. I swear I will meet you all at the finish line. Have water waiting, please. Had about 6 days away this month, though. I was just talking to an online writer friend who manages about 6k a day. She's a brilliant best-selling writer and I'm hoping for tips. LOL.
Did it at Starbucks! My novel's almost done too, it was barely long enough. Debbie made a ridiculous movie of me counting the words of my longhand. I'm sure you'll be seeing it soon enough, and there's nothing I can do about it. I think I'll reward myself with another overpriced latte.
I am no longer a tragic grasshopper... from now on I shall be known as thequitecheerygrasshopper.
If anyone else is struggling to finish then keep going! On the 15th of Nov I was on 1k but I managed it, keep at it folks!
Here's my final figures...
Words: 50,051
Caffeine Consumed: Heart stopping amounts
Characters killed: 6 - including burning, drowning, freezing and being kicked the shit out of. (it's really not as morbid as it sounds lol)
Number of all-nighters: 7
The 50,000th word: Ghost (Oooo)
See you all on saturday for a proper celebration :D
*licks winner certificate to see if it tastes like success*
I'm happy to join the 50k club at 50,215. There's more to this story, but no freakin' way I'm going to keep writing it right now. It can wait now until I sleep the next week away :)
I was thousands of words ahead a few days ago and then had the misguided idea of thanking the pep talk authors for their contribution by buying their books. Damn you Naomi Novik for sucking up my last few days! I move that the volunteer authors for next year should not have written interesting books. Maybe a dictionary author, or someone that writes jingles for used car lot commercials.
Tim, you weren't the only one to make that mistake! I've read the first and half of the second Temeraire books this month, as well - though I managed to refrain from cracking book 2 until I had reached 50K :)

Now - one day off and then I continue - my story isn't finished yet, either.

I won by four words. I think I've written more words this month than in four years of university. The sensation is simply amazing!
