In the Clubhouse- 50,000 words Hall-of-Fame

I did it------- using Q10, my AlphaSmartPro and a good outline of what I wanted to say in the novel.

I wrote my 50,000+ words on three computers. The desktop computer that died last week, the seven-year-old laptop that's still working, and the new desktop computer that arrived on Tuesday.

Way to go, everyone. Who's next?

I've written more than 50,000 words and I'm less than half done with my story. I'm no where near finished!

For those of you who get to 50k, don't forget to validate your word count by clicking on the "Edit Profile" link. I have friends who forgot to get their purple bar during the final week of NaNoWriMo last year and they were not happy campers.

Done is good. Whew.

Just crossed the 50k line. My hands and wrists are killing me and I've got another two chapters to go.

But hitting 50k is so awesome XD

*dances* I did it! According to MS word, I was within 100 words of 50k, so I threw it into the NNWM counter to see how far off I was and POOF! I had won =D

*toasts with her celebratory eggnogg*

Having that purple bar is everything I thought it would be.

You're like the neighbors who don't just mow the lawn, they mow the lawn with that pretty cross pattern. I bet your cars are spotless too. No empty coke cans or old magazines in there, noooooo sir.

Now I'm going back to writing so I can get a little purple bar of my own.

NaNo was more difficult for me last year. I wrote a lot of emails like you've just posted and my friend would always do something to help me focus and stay on track.

I counted.

I'm in San Diego county and wanted to say I got my 50K. Congratulations to all in San Diego who were successful. For those almost there, I wish you energy for the final stretch. It feels good to get the purple bar and the winner's certificate. Enjoy being a winner in San Diego!

Hang in there, all of you who are almost there! It won't be long now...

The advice I found most helpful this year was: Every time you're feeling stuck, or want to check your word count, or take a break, just get to the end of the page. This really worked well for me, and when I was stuck, it unstuck me.

You wouldn't believe how much my characters were bemoaning fate and cursing choices made for them in their lives towards the end of last year's NaNo. I hate to admit it but I raced to finish last year because I couldn't stand listening to them anymore. Hopefully you're having a lot more fun twith your work.

As I'm sure you know, 5000 words per day is completely 'do-able'. You're almost there.

ahh, I think I will enjoy the look of the purple bar. Why hello there purple bar. Do you signify that my story is done? What is that you say? I still have more to write? But, but! NOOOOO!

Ahh well, I hit the milestone. Now time to bask in it, and then get back to finishing this darn thing before I go and celebrate too hard. Congrats all my fellow winners and everyone else who is still sticking in there.

Done. And I finished the story at just the right part (my epilogue put me at about 300 words over).

Finished. Had to compress the action of the last two chapters just to get the stuff on (virtual) paper, but just had to be done with it. I don't think I could have written another bite...

Aaaaaaaaah got it. Now I'm never looking at this novel ever again! Who cares if it's not finished, I am!

Ch-Ching!!!

Well that was a hurricane. Now I have to get back to the gym, I've skipped it all this month to finish this task. This was one heck of a project I'll say that much. I'll try and make it to one of the after parties. Thanks for everyone's support. The madness can now cease...for now.

*staggers across finish line*

Tough month. Pretty much had the flu off and on for two weeks straight, at times I thought I could barely write 500 words a day. The feeling of "GAH! This is the stupidest story ever!" took over more than once. Heck, even this morning. I ended up simply summarizing large chunks of the finish, so really the novel isn't completed since I need to go back and flesh those out. Probably will be 70K or so when done, about right for the utter froth that it is.

But for now, I'm done. Wish I could make tomorrow, though. Work just called, and I'm out of town for Saturday and Sunday. But I'll be there in spirit.

Hand me my beer! Ahhhhh...

Hubby asked me to wait 'til he got home to finish so he could celebrate with me, so he counted down my last sentence (16 words) to hit an even 50k. The story was utter crap, but it was worth it to see Zach get so excited that he splattered our kitchen with a Capri Sun. And we've also discovered that Pogo definitely does not like being tossed in the air.
