I see that Phoenixwaller has crossed the finish line - Yaayy! Congratulations! Where's your purple bar?

What about everybody else? WIll there be anybody else posting 50k today?

Anybody truly worried they won't? Don't, you'll be fine. Just sit there and type, type, type away. There'[s nothing on TV anyway. Has anybody seen Cybele's wc?

There are always those nanoers that stay about 5 or 10k behind most of the month. It looks like they can't possibly finish by the 30th but they always surprise us.

Schnedar is one of them - how are you doing Schnedar? IMKathleen does that too - Nora? Just like Chris Baty.

I'm waaaayyyyy behind. But I'm not worried.

I'll cross the 50k line, then it's on to nanofimo. Anybody want to joine me?

I'm at about 37,200. I don't know if I'll make it but I'm going to try. Being sick as well as having small sick children has been somewhat disruptive. But I'm going to make that push.

I'm snuggling up to my green bar for a little while longer. Don't worry it'll turn purple before the end of the day.

I'm trying like mad to actually finish this novel by the end of the month, so there may not be anything left for FiMo, but if I'm not actually done I'll join you.

Made it past 50k this morning! And the book is nowhere near done, unless....maybe it's going to be a trilogy! Anyway, I've got another November deadline (Bead Journal Project) to finish, and then there's Christmas presents to make. But I do intend to keep working on this book.! One thing I wonder is, where's my halo? I donated early, and still no halo. Oh well...the purple bar is enough reward.
Good going, all!

Thank you. I am going to stick a very large E-pen in my eyes and poke them out. There are other Mo's? I thought it was over, finished, completed, done, rushed to ending and filed away without thought or hope of seeing day light again but now I see there is a FiMo and all other kinds of things and the creature has stuck a finger from its electronic drawer, it has the strength and power to emerge once more into the darkness of my mind and in the last minute since learning of these terrible and horrendous Mo's, it has rewritten not only itself but also my sourve code and kernals and I am now enslaved once more. Perhas this is like Ringu (The Ring) If I pass on this curse to others, I may escape its destructive powers. Thanks again

Brendan.

i had heard about this edmo thing, but not the fimo. very slick. and as my novel is no where near done, it appears i'll be participating in yet another month of goodness.

i'm 800 words shy of 50k, and i find my brain just doesn't want to work anymore. anyone else feeling this way?

and you can try with passing the curse, but i wouldn't hold my breath, brendan. :) writing seems to be something that infects us for life.

Congrats EggPlant, I think that you are right in we being cursed with this affliction called creativity. I was in danger of going to 70,000 with my piece and chose to limit it somewhat when I got to 45K so I cut out a lot of characters and plots. I was at 47K when everything came to a close faster than I thought, had a hell of a time getting the last 3,000 words and had to reinvent the whole ending 2 hours before I hit the last keystroke. I finally thought it was all complete though but now I see another chance to add 30K to the story and the parts I removed are coming up again to seek re-admission, hehehe.

DesertWillow, thanks. I hope you manage to catch up on the word count soon and if not, fimo is only a web click away.

Brendan.

Whew! I did it!

That last thousand words was the most emotionally complex piece of erotica I have ever written, and between the afterglow of that and the thrill of victory, my husband is in trouble tonight ;-)

Yay erotica! Last year's was absolute unabashed gryphon pr0n. Sadly, it was a wretchedly conflicted story and although parts of it were HAWT... it needs an awful lot of work.

Geez! You guys are starting to make me wonder if I'm in the wrong genre. You get to get all hot and steamy, and I get to write death and destruction.

*thinks about it* but death and destruction are good too!

Even worse, mine was a family comedy but two characters were involved in the porn trade and had a site I had to incent, then I wondered about how much trouble I would be in if the site was already in use, it wasn't but, could have been and so, necause of NaNoWriMo I now wn a porn site URL. Odd how things happen eh?

thanks for everyone's kind words of congrats. i offer my own to all of you who have now finished! (there are too many of you to list, which is quite the good thing.) i would have to say the hardest thing i confronted was realizing that one of my MC's brothers is essentially useless. so, the second half has only one. and rather than satisfy the editing need within me, i pillaged on, writing mass chaos that edmo will have to fix. i'm jealous of brendan though. i'll have to fimo the rest of my novel out.

between steamy erotica, the acquisition of a porn site URL, and internal debates between death/destruction vs. steamy lovin', you have all left me laughing. thank you. i just got off work, and i needed it.

Thanks for asking desertwillow. My secret is taking a day off of work, which I did today. 10K later, I'm in striking distance (at 44K total). Congrats to all who made it.

As for steamy sex vs. death & destruction, why do we have to choose? Give me both or give me bland reading!

No, you don't have to choose between sex and destruction. The steamy sex in my NaNo novel happened during a thunderstorm and tornado warning, and the tornado, with its destruction, passed within 50 yards of the house.

Oh, yeah, and another character was murdered during the storm.

BTW, my current novel excerpt is the part that leads up to the steamy sex. If you'd rather read the scene itself, vote here, and I'll paste it in.

lol you guys

I don't know though... the last sex scene I wrote somebody ended up dying (well sorta, for the purposes here yes) at the end. He didn't even get to fully enjoy himself before dying.

somehow that doesn't seem too hot and steamy to me, lol

I guess I should write more gratuitous sex if I'm gonna write it at all. So far I've only ever written it in if it's gonna directly influence the plot. Which usually leads to people dying.

umm..

WHEEEEEE!

Congratulations to you all! Whoever wrote even one single word is a winner!! Every journey starts with that first step. For a writer that means simply one single word followed by others over time.

Sadly, this will make my very first year of not reaching the 50K mark. However, I must say it has been a banner learning year. lol I've finally discovered a writer's block I couldn't overcome: Stress.

It had to happen sometime! Sympathy and empathy are not needed for the writing! lol a JOB is! I'm not worried about it though, It will happen. Life goes on and change is a constant. As far as the writing? Four years of writing success wiill keep me going as a writer. I hope your writing will continue successfully and all your dreams will be realized! And :) There is always: next year!.

That's your secret! Wow! And I've been trying to write through my lunch hours and in the evenings! I wasn't able to write at work as much this year so I guess it slowed me down. I should be posting 50k later tonight or tomorrow.

It was harder this year for me - more stress. The first couple of chapters were much better though. The rest was pure crap. One of the other threads is raising words for Chris Baty. I may give him some of mine.

JDB_Educator, I'm sorry you didn't make it this year but I know you. You'll keep up the writing. I hope everything settles down for you.

lol, good idea everyone else I know does.

I finally just finished and I'm not really finished but at least I'm not in a panic anymore. I'm off to actually finish. Maybe I can today although probably not. I think I have another five to ten K left before I finish.

50,000 words? Check. Actual end of novel? Um... Well... not so much.

After a couple weeks off, I might return and try to polish off the first draft. It went pretty well, all things considered...
