So, hi. I'm Jenna and this is my first year really participating in the forums and whatnot. I did NaNo last year but really sort of avoided this site other than to update my word count. So hi =)

Anyways, I finally got to my 50k words sometime in the wee hours of the morning and now I'm finishing off my story. Needless to say I'm feeling mightily proud of myself at the moment. I noticed that there are like "official" events going on that I didn't even know about for awhile which is awesome but I didn't know if there's some sort of party at the end? Cause after all of this writing I am sort of feeling like having a few celebratory drinks and would love to celebrate with other participants. If there's something official going on pardon me for stepping on any toes but if not is anyone up for some Friday night drinks in the city somewhere? We can pat each other on the back and bask in our awesomeness.

Hi Jenna,

Your MLs haven't scheduled anything for Friday night -- the last write-in is Thursday in Cambridge (info: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/1057726) and the TGIO (Thank God Its Over) party is on Sunday (see http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/1066347 for information), so that those of us a few thousand words behind you have right up until midnight to achieve the 50k goal. Friday night fits right in to that schedule, so by all means, please do set something up. Please post when you find a place to meet.

Meanwhile, I hope I'll get to see you on Sunday at the TGIO.

Cheers,
Travis (tkphotog)

Hey Jenna - a few of us had discussed doing a write-in on Friday afternoon in the city. I haven't made a post about it yet, but we did one last week at b.good in the back bay and I was thinking of suggesting the same place for this week because they're really nice and don't care if we sit around for hours and all of that. So my point here is, if you pick a place in the city and I can get to 50k by the evening, which I'm planning to do, I'll come!

And you're welcome to attend the write-in, of course! Although we might scowl at you for being a winner already :)

I'm too far behind to even think about partying just yet, but congratulations on your success!

Bandanna: tell me the time, and I'll be there.

I am way, way, way behind. (My word count is not currently up to date, but it's still not much better than that.) I am not going to bed tonight till I have 30k. And no sleep Monday night till 40k. 45k before the write-in on Thursday, at which point I should be able to get within 1k of finish. I absolutely HAVE to finish Thursday, though, because I move to a new apt on Saturday morning, so Friday night is going to be spent in the glamorous pursuit of packing up our apartment. Grrrr!

So if anyone wants to rendez-vous on Tuesday or Wednesday for unofficial write-ins and motivating, I am 100% endorsing that idea. I need all the help I can get. I am determined to finish, even though it just keeps getting shittier. It WILL happen, dammit!

SocioTom, you and I are pretty close in words, if yours is up to date, so we can yell at each other. ;)

Irascible, we are very much on the same page with this. I just updated last night; in order to finish, I have to pull 5,000 a day. Not quite as much as you, since I have Friday free, but I would definitely be will to yell in the name of motivation. ;)

I could do a lunch time thing either Tuesday or Wednesday (or both, really), so let me know!

I will gladly bring my laptop into work for the next few days if people want to meet up around lunch time. I'm near the Espresso Royale on Comm Ave (B line to BU Central), and I have an hour for lunch, whenever I feel so inclined to take it. I'd be happy to meet up with people whenever works for them. I will suggest 1:30, because that's about when I usually take lunch anyways. Anyone interested?

At this moment, I may or may not be carefully shirking work to frantically hammer away at my word count. ;) I am determined to do at least 10k today before I can go to bed. I will make this happen!

I'm already on the B line, so I'll be there. Maybe even be there a little earlier than 1:30, since I can probably get a good amount of writing done there.

I'll see you there!

PS: Do you happen to know if they have any plugs?

I think they have plugs, as I see people with laptops there often, though it's a matter of getting at them.

I have a NaNo badge sticker (from a few years back) and a big banner sticker that says "write shit down" on my laptop. I also have the crazed look of panic about me. So if I am there first, that is how to identify me!

Come one, come all, Espresso Royale around 1:30 tomorrow! Possibly Wednesday too if it goes well!

Sounds good. My laptop is black with a bunch of stickers on it, including a "Denounce Torture" one, one for my old college radio station (WJMF 88.7), and the Newbury Comics smiley face guy.

I'll see you there!

So, uh, I managed to break during the night. I just got home from the emergency room, where I've been since about 4 AM. The doctors were pretty adamant that I need to try to rest/etc, and not go to work. So I cannot make Espresso Royale. :( If anyone wants to come out this way to Roggie's or Presto Pizza (Cleveland Circle/Chestnut Hill Ave, on the C and B lines respectively) I would still love to do some group writing. But I definitely can't make it all the way out to the BU Central area.

I'm sorry to have managed to miss just about everything :(

Hi Irascible,

I hope you're going to get better very soon! Please let your MLs know if we can offer any assistance.

So, can anybody swing by Irascible's way and offer her a lift into town? It sounds like she needs definite, dependable rides to and from -- assuming she's still able to make it, even with a lift. Let's come together and see if we can help out a fellow wrimo in need.

Hm....so, Presto Pizza it is, then. I'll be there in 20 minutes or so, same laptop as I described above.

I don't have a car (and I'm never around for the official write-ins anyway), but I could probably get my hands on a roomate's car (or a Zipcar, now that I think about it) for the end-of-the-month party, if you're going.

Well, I'm going to set out. So, hopefully, I'll see you at Presto's. And I hope you get better quick!

EDIT: I have to get going to work. Sorry to have missed you today. I'll be back to Presto's tomorrow, around 1 or 1:30, if you want to meet up then.

Happy writing!

Ahhh! Tom, I missed you. I am so, so, so sorry that I missed you. :( Since I didn't see any replies I ended up just passing out. This November has been a real fiasco.

The good news is, I should be fine for the rest of the week. I'm going back to work as of tomorrow (knock on wood) now that I've slept and drank gallons upon gallons of orange juice and vitamin water.

If you want to risk trying Espresso Royale again tomorrow, I would be delighted. Otherwise, I don't blame you for not trusting my flakiness ;)

Glad to hear you're doing better already. :)

Alright, Espresso Royale attempt number 2 it is, then. I shall see you there! Hopefully!

irascible, sorry I didn't show. It's a story involving oversleeping, and I'm really, really sorry. I did show up, but it was a bit late (just after 2:30), and couldn't find you there.

Sorry again, and I hope you got alot of writing done!

I was wondering about that. ;D No problem, it certainly happens to all of us! I did in fact get good writing done, I should pass 45k before leaving the office tonight if all goes well (I hit 42k at lunch!) but I was sorry to miss you.

Fate is determined to prevent us from managing our last minute unofficial write-ins ;)

I think Fate's worried that if we get too close to each other, then all of the the tension building up from our final pushes to 50k will cause the table to just burst into flames. :P

Out of curiosity, will I be finally meeting you at Friday's sprint to the finish?

Haha, that's definitely a danger. I think the sheer tension in my office today was enough to cause small brushfires (I kept setting things in piles, to be attended to "tomorrow" or "the next day" so I could keep the novel action going!).

I will be at the Friday explosion of 50k if people will still be there around 5:30, as I don't get off work until 5. I will definitely be at the Central Square write-in tomorrow, though!
