I just got my "official count"! 54,000+

But my story's not done yet! Far from done, actually. But, I just wanted to start a topic for us Kentucky writers when we hit that 50K mark! Please feel free to post here when you get your official count, and let us all know how you're going to celebrate this momentous achievement. After all, 50,000 words in one month is no small feat!

What am I going to do to celebrate?

I'm going to write more! One of my friends pointed me to this in an effort to help me break through the writer's block I've been suffering with for the past two years. She told me, " The goal is not to write the next bestseller, the goal is to write! Write for yourself, rediscover that love and that passion that used to force you to the computer evening after evening. Remember that simple joy you used to find in sitting and writing until you could see the sun beginning to rise."

To my friend, I say "Thank you!"

And to NaNoWriMo, I say "Bless you!" You have helped me to reconnect with that fire and passion I used to have. You have made me remember the part of myself that I always took so much pride in. But more importantly, you have made me remember WHO I was.

And who am I?

A writer, of course.

I have reached the 50K goal, however, the novel is not yet complete either. I am going to set the goal for myself to finish it before the deadline, no mater what the word count. I am lucky that I have reached the point in the story where if I were the reader I wouldn't put it down, so as the author, I am finding it difficult to walk away to sleep.

Congrats all!
I made it as well, but should have crafted a story that could have been wrapped a little closer to 50-60k. As it is, I'm afraid this one is going to weigh out at around 120k, so I probably won't finish for a few more weeks :(
But all is well, that just puts off starting the next one a few days as I plan to maintain my early morning writing schedule going forward.
Blessings to all who have put pens to paper and finger tips to keyboards this month.

I passed 50,000 on Thanksgiving and finished up the day afterwards. This is my first year doing NaNoWriMo, and I'm very proud of myself for finishing it, especially earlier than the deadline.

I also think that I'll celebrate this accomplishment by writing. Haha. It opened up a whole new realm of creativity that I never knew I had, and the problem I have now is actually choosing what I want to write.
