Hey all,
As everyone knows, we've all been up to our eyes in novels and Thanksgiving Day travels.
One of the giant question marks hanging over our heads has been: "Where are we going to do the TGIO Party?"
And after much thought, pulling of hair, gnashing of teeth, and battling the recalcitrant characters...we are still stumped.
We have a vague idea that it'll be in the evening. Probably it will also be on a weekend night so as to accommodate busy work schedules.
We need a place to have it. As you know...there are many of us. So the place has to be a decent size.
As Chuck noted early on, we've had them at various locations that range from apartments to community rooms.
Do you have, or know of, such a location?
If you do, please post it down thread or let one of us, your MLs, know via email.
Thanks...

Now get back to noveling...

Hi there. If people don't think Pentagon City is too far to travel, I may be able to offer the common rooms of the apartment building I live in (the Metropolitan at Pentagon City). I'd have to check out details tomorrow, as I'm not quite sure how it all works. But I was just saying the other day to my partner that it's too bad we don't actually know anybody here, because it'd be a great place to have a party. The building is just steps away from the Pentagon City Metro stop (blue and yellow). I have to confess I haven't made it to any write-ins, but I did meet some of you at our kick-off party and would be happy to host something here. Again, I'll need to check out details. They do have a tendency to be strict with all the public-facing areas...

That'd be great.
If you could find out the details and all, it's good idea.

Good golly molly. These common rooms actually have a $100 per HOUR fee attached to them. I thought there would be a charge of some kind; I just didn't realize it would be quite that steep. I guess the policy changed dramatically this year after a bit of a mishap last holiday season. So, alas, I think we are still in search of a location. So sorry--seemed like the perfect solution!

There's a really cute little bar in Adams Morgan on 18th street called Rendezvous. Right on a corner next to Soussi. It's never seemed to be crowded, at least not when I've passed it or gone in. I'm not even sure if they keep normal bar business hours, but it might be worth checking out. I know they do comedy nights and stuff like that and they have both a downstairs area and an upstairs lounge. It's a pretty low key place. I'm sure they'd be happy to have the guaranteed business. Also it's not too far deep in Adam's Morgue, so might not be too offensive a location even if it's a weekend night.
Thems my two cents!

Only problem I see with that, would they let people in who are under 21?

Why don't we do it at SoHo Dupont Circle on December 1 at 8PM? That seems to be a location that has been used before for write-ins, and it dodges the problem of age barriers.

No worries. The other MLs and I are in discussion.

Given the number of people who showed up last year, SoHo might not be big enough.
