November, as I'm sure you all know, is never a quiet, easygoing sort of month. Never, ever, ever. Highlights of my previous Novembers include 'getting fired', 'working seven straight days' and 'arm in a sling'. This month, though, has been the worst EVER, and I've been doing NaNo for a long time.
Things That Happened This November to Dyce:
- worked seven days straight due to having to work an extra weekend.
- injured dud right wrist hauling boxes at work.
- all-new assessment hoops to jump through at work, killing brain.
- neighbour's cat announced that she had moved in with us by having kittens in our spare room.
- other neighbour's cat also moved in - this neighbour has been known to be violent.
- husband's parents came to visit from the U.S., necessitating Frantic Housecleaning
- had to celebrate Thanksgiving TWICE, sucking up valuable writing time.
I have never been this behind, ever. What bizarre things have happened to the rest of you that Would Only Happen In November?
And does anyone have a loving home available for a kitten?

I might, miiiiiiiight have room for a kitten. If it's okay to hold off for a bit, I will ask on the weekend.
And this month...? The thing that sucked up my time the most... Totem poles. Definitely. We're building them in Art, and we STILL don't have the right colour tiles, and no matter how careful we are with kneading, everything we put in the kiln to fire explodes.
Art, a bludge lesson? Ha. Maths is more of a bludge than art.
Also, myriads of things due ALL ON THE SAME FRIDAY ARGH. I eventually went mad and started sticking butterfly stickers everywhere. Luckily I was ahead by then...

Weeeeelllll...
- I've had to play catchup on my documentary series which has meant huge amounts of overtime at work - working every weekend and the odd night here and there.
- I have to finish coordinating our work Xmas Party by the end of this week - no small task, we always have one hell of a shebang
- I'm real estate hunting. Bad enough in itself, but every inspection involves at least two hours of driving each way - all for the pleasure of three minutes in a house. Plus Brisbane is really a seller's market, and none of the agents really give a toss about the length of travel we have to make. So that's a massive timesink... plus there's the packing up of our current place.
- I'm trying to complete a pitch for the Brisbane Festival next year - something that is taking a lot of time, as the show has only been a street performance so far and needs so much more detail to work in a theatre...
- Basically there are stacks of things that have to be completed before the end of the year, and most of them need to be done in the next week or two. So I'm trying to get my life together for the coming year, while simultaneously trying to NaNo.
What a great venting thread! Whew, now that's off my chest I should do some actual work so I can leave the office guilt free and go have a house inspection this afternoon. Hopefully I can fit some novelling in there somewhere!!!

I love kittens, but alas, I can't have one in my current living arrangements. :(
I got a deadline for my work project which went from 1st of january next year to the 30th of November this year.
As a consequence, on top of my 50000 words, I also wrote:
90 pages worth of technical procedures
30,000 word handbook relating to above procedures
Helped rewrite another procedure manual.
My girlfriend's brother passed away suddenly, resulting in a mad interstate mercy dash. (oh my wallet loves me)
Alcohol happened!

No rush... they won't be ready to leave their mama until Christmas at absolute earliest, and January would be better. Why-oh-why am I the only person on the damned street who desexes her pets?!

Well. November. Where do I start?
November started out OK. Well, that's if you consider having moved to a new city and having to fly my daughter back and forth in between Brisbane and Canberra *every* weekend OK. It was good ... I got to NaNo on the plane!
So, it was a perfectly normal beginning - I worked all day, put my daughter to bed every night, then NaNo'ed all night while my boyfriend pined in a corner. His and my daughter's complaints for food and attention fell on deaf ears. No problem!
I then got a phone call from my solicitor - we were going to court on 26 November. In the meantime (and it was at this point she got a list that rather resembled the 'nice' list that Santa Claus gets out at this time of year), I had some work to do.
So I knuckled down and started preparing for my court date. In the meantime, I NaNo'ed and continued to ignore all other distractions. At this point I also stopped cleaning the house. At work, I got asked to produce not one but two full length documents. In two weeks. Easy!
Then, one night mere minutes after dragging my sorry rear end into bed, my phone rang. A (fellow NaNo) friend had been evicted, could he come round. Sure! The next day he moved in. No problem! We could NaNo together.
Then my court date arrived, so off to Canberra I went. And promptly got told that I had to move back. Well. I was 10,000 words away from completing my novel. What do you think I did? Completed my novel ... and *then* booked the removalist.
So ... apart from having to be in Canberra in less than two weeks, being virtually homeless, (thankfully not jobless!) and leaving my brand new flatmate totally in the lurch, not too bad. My boyfriend is miserable because not only am I leaving, but I've ignored him for a month solid, I'm not sure if I'm ever going to be able to walk on my kitchen floor without shoes again, and some sanity is clearly lacking. But aside from all that - November was reasonably uneventful. I wrote a novel, some stuff happened. Life goes on ;)
And if I had a home ... I would love a kitten. But, unfortunately, I don't. Sorry :(

Hmm November.
- Got evicted, had to move, presently on very shaky ground until I can get the real estate agent to confirm my lease.
- A new girl friend
- Major issues tearing almost everyone I know apart, tearing me apart in the process.
- Uni exams
- Failing a uni subject with 53%, stressing out over supplementary exams and getting expelled from university.
So in a nutshell I've been a stress cookie for most of November and I'm now overwhelmed and giving up.

Yay, I won too. This is my second year. :D
Last year I had the crazy kitten problem too! They drove me up the wall. I couldn't even sit in the computer chair without being jumped.
This year was really laid back for me actually. Except that my husband's birthday is on the 11th and that always messes me up in the middle.
Also about the kittens, I had to say this. You could contact Best Friends: http://www.bestfriendsrescue.com/
I believe that they will probably help you to find homes for the kittens or at least give you good advice. I got a WONDERFUL cat from them about a year ago. It's a great organization.
If I owned a home I would take another kitten or two but I can't at this point. I hope it works out. :)
