Hey all!

I hope your novels are coming to fruition for you in the last few days of November. To those that have already finished, well done, to those that aren’t sure if they'll make it, remember this "It's not about winning or losing, it's about taking on the challenge and giving it all you can. Some have heaps of time and no commitments, and others have many. Do what you can, when you can, or you'll never know "if" you could!"

Now, to talk of celebration!

First off, everyone is welcome, weather you finished or not. We are there to celebrate the end of November, and EVERYONES involvement. So do come, regardless of your final wordcount.

And so to location and details -

A big thanks to miss.y (otherwise known as Yasmin) who has been running the Write-ins at the Stanton Library in North Sydney, because she's also managed to snag for us a venue!

Place: Stanton Library Conference Room, Level 2, 234 Miller St, North Sydney.

Time: Sunday Dec 2nd 2007. We plan to start at 2pm, and finish up around 4:30pm, with 30 mins to clean up before we need to leave at 5pm.

Getting There:Paid parking is available in the Ridge St Carpark behind the library, or train to North Sydney Station and 10 min walk uphill or 202, 207, 228, 230 buses to the door.

Also, Info on accessibility: http://www.northsydney.nsw.gov.au/www/html/2284-disabled-access.asp

Bring: This is a BYOE party, as I promised, so we NEED to bring all our own food and drink. Please bring a plate and something to drink. I would be great if you could bring more than you need for yourself, as we aim to share the food around. Drink sharing at your own discretion.

Looking forward to seeing you all there. Please let me know below if you are coming so we have some idea of numbers.

Any questions on the day, or if you get lost, phone me on 0433256430.

Ray

Too much on on Sunday... but arent we also holding a TGIO party at the end of the Star Bar Meetup on Friday? ie - when it clocks over to midnight?

Killraven - a comment?

Sadly, I have neither completed NaNo this year, nor will be able to make the TGIO party.

My excuse for the first is that I have been travelling since the1st October, and spent 10 days touring Europe at the start of November which completely threw my writing off.

My excuse for the second is that my mother is throwing a rellies bash that afternoon which I cannot escape. Not that I mind too much - our family relations are generally okay. (All right, well, there is this one aunt but...)

I have been overseas for most of this NaNo, and so will merely be a vague memory of a face to the people who have participated in previous years, but I just want to say congratulations to all the winners for this year, good on everyone for trying, and thank you to the regional organiser and the people who managed the write-ins.

Sel.

Unfortunately, there is no TGIO party at Star Bar after midnight.

When I had initially set up the Write-Ins, I tried to book the 'Mad Max' table that night, but it was unavailable because from 10pm Fridays that area in Star Bar becomes a nightclub.

I'm afraid that I won't be able to make it to the TGIO Party, as I already have a previous commitment for that afternoon...

...but would anyone like to meet up afterwards at a pub or restaurant or wherever in either North Sydney or the city?

I'll be there - and killraven, would totally be up for meeting afterwards in the city proper.

Yes definitely interested!
I already have three things happening on Sunday... TGIO from 2-5 is going to be hard to make.
I might make the very end of it - so I'd be much happier meeting up afterward to carry on.
Either North Syd or City is ok for me...

Yeah, really wanted to come and had it in my diary and then my parents invited themselves over and I said yes, forgetting about the TGIO party.

If I can wrangle out of it then I'll be there.

Thanks Yasmin and Ray for organising! That sounds fun. I definitely hope to make it and bring deliiiicious yums of some description. Aha, I do like your advice to Nanoer's who haven't quite made it! :P This month has been delightfully crazy and some unexpected things certainly did come up... I'm afraid still haven't gotten around to typing up anything I've written since the first week, nor to having much idea of what my word count might be - but all the piles of loose papers that have accumulated throughout the month and are floating about still make me happy, as I know that's at least much more than I'd usually do! :P The write-ins have been fantastic and incredibly motivating, and it was lovely to meet everybody. Hope to see some familiar faces on Sunday. All the best til then! XOXO Celia.

For those who'd like to meet up after the TGIO Party:
* I have nothing against North Sydney (I have been working there for the past five years), but I'm unsure what is open there on a Sunday night - the only venues that immediately come to mind are the Rag And Famish pub, the pub above Greenwood Plaza, and the Black Stump Restaurant; does anyone know of anywhere else, either in North Sydney or close by?
* if we meet in the city - I'm thinking that the cinema precinct could be a good option, as it's close to Town Hall station and there's a lot to choose from there (eg: big restaurants like Maccas and Pizza Hut, and big bars like Star Bar)

What do you guys think?

Sorry, but I used my one-meet-up-a-year one the KO party. I tried, and failed, to get the 'rents to agree to the TGIO party. Nada.

Have a good time!

killraven- i say the city area.
cinema region is good- easy to meet up, and good for transport.
um- yeah. im cool with terrorising maccas or soemthing for a while, or there are some all night places down at circ quay, but yeah.
sounds good ^_^
I'm gonna try to beg off work early if it's quiet, but if not, how about extension = meet in the city for anyone who can't make it to the TGIO at town hall steps?
sometime around 5.30/ 6 ish? i guess a lot of people will be coming from thr TGIO party, but for those who miss it, there's a central meeting point and we can go from there?

im happy for it to happen.
my mob. is 0407787501... just inc ase it happens/ doesn't happen etc.
*shrugs*
we'll seeee!

For those who are interested in a post-TGIO Party meet-up in the city

I, and most likely my friend and fellow NaNoWriMoer AussieMike as well, will be at Star Bar at around 6pm. We will most likely be sitting at the Mad Max table again (where the Star Bar Write-Ins were held).

Star Bar is what used to be Planet Hollywood, and is directly across the road from the Greater Union cineplex.

If you''ve never been to Star Bar before, here's how to find us inside:
1) Walk in through the front door of Star Bar
2) Go up the stairs
3) Walk ahead to the Rotunda, a large enclosed area
4) Walk around the Rotunda to the right and look straight ahead towards the main bar
5) Look up and to the right, and you'll see a black Mad Max car hanging from the ceiling
6) Underneath the Mad Max car is an alcove with a large table - that's where we'll be

Suggestion - we could use Star Bar as the place to stay at, or the place to meet at and move on from.

My mobile is 0418 673 250

Yay! I CAN make it today! It'll be awkward, sure, but nano brings out my most desperate, and all that desperacity takes a while to drain out over the course of december... i better stop now before you all think i'm crazy. Hey look! i invented a new word! (I got into heaps of trouble doing that in the middle of an english essay....)

Fantastic! I get to be the first person to say what a great time i had! It was pretty cool, we chatted, ate, drank... read excerpts from each other's novels. I have some pictures, and I'll put them up in some way as soon as possible.

Dang! I wish i had stayed till 11:30! But i had a great time till 7:30... I know it would have been nigh impossible to get home later with all the track work... plus with my lift from the station...

'twas great! Good to chat to you all, and nice to meet another IC fan!

As it was, I went to sleep at a normal time for the first night in almost a month... (i wasn't being kept up by nano, it was just a tool with which i procrastinated more effectively! :P)
