One hour and thirty seven minutes to go here.

And having to catch up nineteen thousand five hundred words to go in the last two days.

And twelve thousand and five hundred today alone.

And being sick for almost two weeks with the flu because of my stuffed immune system.

And after having to pull out of TAFE this semester due to a nasty illness that has had me barely able to walk.

BUT I WASN'T GOING TO GIVE UP!

Winner's bar, you look so very, very good.

P.S. I'm rather chuffed with myself! Yay me! Yay everybody! I'll never take novelists for granted again! :-)

With just 40 minutes to go, and an astounding 17,000 words today ...

I DID IT!

my fingers are numb now. But I don't so much care.

With one day to go I was 12,000 words short so I took the day off from work so that I could bash out that last few pages.

And everything that could go wrong...

First I had a call from a real estate valuer saying my landlord was 'refinancing' and he wanted to take a look at the place. So I lost all of Thursday night to cleaning , cleaning, cleaning, disposing of the cat, cleaning... Come 9am i'm on my couch trying to write with a guy in a suit stomping around my house asking stoopid questions.

Then my mother calls saying 'have your cat back and also can you look after the Hound of the Baskervilles while someone comes in to look at my smoke alarm. (Okay she's just a golden retriever and not that ferocious but she sheds like a mofo and i'd just vacuumed.)

Then I opened the fridge to get some lunch and found two crusts of bread, an empty tub of butter, no cheese and a bag of shrinkwrapped slime that might have once been a lettuce. So a trip to the supermarket was on the cards.

Then my mother called again to thank me for looking after the hellhound and remind me that i'd promised to go to dinner that night (bugger bugger bugger)

But in the end I prevailed... although I think for the last half hour it was just me wearing my headphones and screaming 'shut up!' everytime anyone came near me.

Purple is my new favourite colour :-D Winner's bar I huggle you!
I'm not going to let any of the voices in my head that are trying to mumble things about editing say anything for a solid week while I give myself RSI patting myself and everyone else on the back!
I spent the last day of NaNoWriMo at work studiously pretending to be doing what they pay me for whilst I wrote exciting underground fight scenes and clandestine meetings. A higher up came in at one point to ask a question and I alt+tab'd but I alt+tab'd to a game of Solitaire :-p Luckily they weren't paying attention...

Congratulations everyone!
