I hope everyone has had a GREAT NaNoWriMo! Congratulations to everyone who hit 50,000. And super congratulations to everyone who kept writing, still writing even now, even if you aren't going to hit 50,000. The important part is that you wrote, write and keep writing!!!

Now, I'm going to overstep my bounds a little and challenge everyone who hasn't donated to NaNoWriMo to do so. I did the math, and based on word count & average words, in DFW we have 368 people who've updated their word counts at least once. As a region, we've donated $810. That's $2.20 per writer.

I know each one of you who wrote at a coffee house spent more than that this month at write-ins. Some of us spent WAY more.

Give $10 to NaNo, and forgo lattes for the next week. It's time we all weaned ourselves off the caffeine anyway. Don't even try to give blood right now. Your type is Columbian Supreme. :-)

Anyone who has enjoyed this month needs to give back to the crazy people who motivated you to do this. Anyone who has complained about the website needs to give twice as much. Anyone who has hated this month but has learned something about yourself needs to give. Anyone reading this needs to give.

I'm not a big fundraiser person, ask my kids for proof there. But NaNoWriMo has pushed me to a point where I feel like a writer, not just a person who calls herself a writer. And everyone else who has gotten something, anything, out of this month should give back, so this insanity can continue, improve and inspire more people to take pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard).

Hey, where's my halo???

On my original post, I don't have a halo, but on this one, I do. Weirdness...

I agree. I'm not the sort of person who makes many contributions, but Nano was a lot of fun, and its only fair we contribute something to help defray the costs of this project. I bought a shirt and made a contribution. I hope others will do the same.
