Psssst.....hey........you.........

Yeah, hi. Listen, do any of you write all the time? Or want to turn your NaNo into something....bigger? Or smaller, or cleaner, with a few less rough edges?

Because, see, here's the thing.

I want you to come to my house once or twice a month and drink coffee, soda, whatever, and write. And relate. And give honest feedback to each other. And learn some new tricks. And share some old ones. and I have free wi-fi!

I'm really, really into this idea of getting together a group of dedicated writers for a year long writing group/workshop. I see a summer trip to the home of a famous writer, or a weekend writing retreat in the spring, manageable monthly word count goals, cool prizes for those who meet it, and best of all, the continuous flow of creative energy.

If any of this sounds good to you, PLEASE let me know!

I could definitely get in to something like this. Send me a NaNo mail (or if I remember I will send you one) and we can exchange real world contact info!

I'm interested. I don't know about logistics, but I'd definitely like to keep the writing going.

I would totally love it! I was hoping someone close by would want to keep this going. I live in Salisbury, the next town south from Seabrook.

Would you want to meet in a public place rather than your home? Keep us posted.

Ideally, I'd love to.
But realistically, I don't think I have the -time- to commit to anything on a week to week basis. Between work, school, and riding various horses, I don't even time to breathe some weeks.
Would perhaps be interested in going to meetings on an "as I can basis" if that's not too much trouble.

I'm with Ashley on this one....Would love to be part of the group but can't guarantee I'd have time on a weekly basis to commit. Between my weekday job, my horse (that is sadly in need of my attentions), and my makeup/face painting business I never know when I'll have time to do what.
However, if you're willing to let me pop in whenever I can make it I'd love to participate! I haven't been this motivated to write in many many many years.....and I was so dead set on finishing my nano this year and disappointed when fate intervened that I almost trashed it. I didn't, mostly because even though I didn't finish it for nano I want to finish it eventually! So maybe this will be a good way for me to STAY motivated! No matter how many meetings I might miss.

Oh...on that note....can I put in a vote for a day? So far my Thursdays and Fridays are taken, but any other day is still open. :)

Wow! The reponses are more than i dreamed of.

Ill be sending everyone a NaNo mail with my real world contact info. It will include an outline of what i am looking for, what the group goal will be, and so on.

I honestly don't mind people at my place, but i don't really know how many i could fit. Perhaps other places would work better.

I'm definitely not thinking of weekly meetings. Definitely not. I've got a fat new promotion, complete with an increasing of my already packed caseload, plus a child and a husband and blah blah blah, so weekly is out. But if we could make an afternoon, say every second sunday or saturday of the month, we can all mark that day and hopefully plan for it.

But that being said, there will definitely be times when not everyone can make it. So i would propose that if you know you won't be able to come that day, just email me with what you're working on that you want submitted for review or help or discussion, and i'll have it printed up to pass out.

I know reviews can be terrifying, but we all writers and we are all sharing this same journey, even if we are on different paths.

I sent letters to everyone interested prior to the new year, but received only one response.

Regardless, I am still going ahead with the workshop. I'll be at Barnes and Noble on the 19th from 1pm-2pm or longer. I'll also be making a LiveJournal for it. As soon as i can think up a catchy title. Hope to see all of you there. Or any. Or even one.

I don't know how I missed this entire thread until now. I will try to be there this weekend. Unfortunately, this will be the only Saturday I can make it for quite a while. My usual work schedule is Tues-Sat. So, unless it's in the evening, I can't make it.

I will try to get there this week though.
