I just crossed the halfway mark (25,290 words). Okay, I know it's two weeks late and still another 25K short but I'm still working on it. Anyone else still plugging away?

I’m still beavering away at my NaNoscript, which as of tonight stands at 47,984 words. It’s an execrable, featherweight stream of nonsense, and I love it. I only hope I can love the process as much when I get back to work on the “real” novel I’ve spent the last couple of years researching and drafting. Sigh. Hang in there!

One of my goals for 2007 was to submit a piece of my own writing for publication. Two weeks after setting this year's Nanonovel aside, I realize that there isn't enough time to whip it into shape for an editor's eyes. Thanks to my ever-handy procrastination, last year's novel also needs more time than I have before Times Square erupts.

So I'm starting today on a short story that I hope to have clean enough to send out by Dec 31.

On my way home from the TGIO party at Three Brothers', I picked up a book of writing exercises, and I do one each day. I've kept to it for two weeks now. Maybe 2007 will turn out to have been the prep for 2008 and beyond.

Thanks,

Joe

Joe, that sounds wonderful! I know you can do it.
