Does anybody else come back and check these boards once every couple days?

I've been checking it almost daily. :)
It's the calm after the storm around here...

How's everyone doing? Anyone start editing yet?
I've done my first pass, and had two friends (whose opinion I trust) read it and give me notes. I got some good feedback and incorporated some of their ideas. They found a few spelling and grammar mistakes, and more importantly pointed out some parts that were awkward/confusing/out of place. I'm fixing those now....

Hope everyone is well!

Hi there,
I check in every few days. Sometimes I get Nano admin emails to say there's a new thread in 'a forum I subscribe to', but when I try to open it up via the link provided, it tells me 'access denied'. Weird!
I haven't had a moment to touch my manuscript, and really, I'm flattering it to call it that,. But friends who have read excerpts tell me they'd liked it, so I am determined to get on with it.

Hope you had a good time at the Bondi last night, Jason!

Dave says it's freezing up in Seattle - very cold and continuously wet air that you couldn't really call rain! Fun, huh?
I'm off to Disneyland right now ...

not me...

I'm stil writing the last two chapters. Won't this novel ever end? I'm at 59,000 words. In January I'm thinking it will be good time to start editing.

Hi Erin. Nice to see your name pop up, today. I'm like Lesley. I don't log in a lot but I do get email when somebody posts, which helps me keep an eye on it.

Hi Jason. I'm torn between being jealous and wanting to model your NaNo experience for 2007. I'm at least 25000 words from being finished with a first draft and I can't imagine how long I'll be working on it before I'd ever let anybody see it. Hearing where you were at reminded me that was what my goal was for this year's writing. Oh well. GLad to hear you're making headway.

Keep going, everybody and best of luck.

Kip

Lesley, thanks! We had a great time last night. We were treated well despite me not being able to drop David's name (which I guess is a sign that the service is good even when I'm not pow-wowing with the owner!!). My friends enjoyed it and the food + drinks were excellent.

I still get the e-mail notifications. And, of course, I'm still intending to run the editing get togethers around Jan. 15 - Feb 15th approximately.

I've been checking in periodically too, but I haven't had anything to say. I was laid low with a bad cold and I'm just getting back into my routine. I haven't touched my novel and I still need to finish it. I'm looking forward to Mike's writing group in January to get me back on track.

As soon as I hit post on this, I'm heading over to Yahoo! to set up the Cosmo's Crowd group. The first Sunday in January is the 6th. So mark your calendars and check back here soon.

Happy Holidays!
Bettina

I've been checking in periodically but I haven't had much to say either. Now that NaNo's over, though, everything has calmed down and there isn't a flurry of activity anymore. I haven't had a chance to add more, but I will one of these days.

I'm impressed to see so much forward progress from everyone!

I've completely ditched my mockuscript =) I'm on to a completely different obsession now -- training for the 2008 San Diego Rock 'N' Roll Marathon. I like to rotate obsessions so I never get tired of anything. That, and it gives me a lot of insight as to what the heck I actually want to accomplish in life.

Jason - Congrats on trusting friends with a NaNo manuscript! I'd be afraid they'd all laugh at me and ditch me for my incoherent babbling, afraid to ever have a conversation with me again.

Lesley - Never ended up getting a group together for the trivia, hmph. When does the new "season" start again...?

Matt - Way to go on only being two chapters from the end! What a nice, optimistic place that must be =)

Kip - Always nice to see your name pop up as well, thanks for the shout!

Michael - I can't wait! Once we get back from the vay-cay, of course!

Bettina - So glad you're feeling better. I'm still affected by those same allergies from NaNo, and still addicted to the same steroidal nasal spray, but it keeps me from feeling sick all the time. I plan to kick the habit before Jamaica... Just not sure when. Speaking of Jamaica, I won't be at the first Cosmo's get-together, but I plan to hit the second!

Nicole - I take it you're going to hopefully make a post-NaNo write-in or two, then? *nudge* =)

Thanks. It was a bit daunting. :) The real test will be if/when I let my wife read it!
I'm actually looking for volunteers to read it. I feel like I need someone who doesn't know me very well to give me some feedback. I'm a bit worried about editing too much before I hear a marginally unbiased opinion.
If anyone is interested, let me know!
