Welcome aboard for another year of NANO!

The Informations:
Place: 608 Berkeley Ave
Alamosa, CO
Time: 6pm-whatever
Food: Potluck it! Bring something - cookies, drinks, whatever you like. Doesn't have to be fancy, but if you want nomming food, let there be nomming food.
My Number: 505-793-3349

Coming? Please to be leaving a message here letting me know. It's fine if you can't be here right on time, I'm there all night. ^_-
Some Fun Stats for Colorado!

I got a little bored tonight, so I did some math (and for those of you who know me, you know what that means...)

(these are as of 11 PM Nov 14)

Denver has 588 writers, 8,304,158 words with an average of 14,122 per writer.
Boulder has 220 writers, 3,051,949 words with an average of 13,872 per writer,
COS has 216 writers, 3,031,460 words with an average of 14,034 per writer,
Ft. Co has 179 writers, 2,791375 words with an average of 15,594 per writer,
CO Else has 108 writers, 1,414,377 words with an average of 13,096 per writer,
Durango has 49 writers, 757,151 words with an average of 15,329 per writer,
Grand J has 42 writers, 663,444 words with an average of 15,796 per writer,
Greeley has 37 writers, 515,121 words with an average of 13,922 per writer.

This give Colorado a total of 1,439 writers. Our total state word count is 20,523,035 with an average 14,262 words per writer!

THAT'S OVER 410 NOVELS ALREADY!

Just thought you might like to know...

(writers are counted by home region, not by affiliated regions, so only writers homed are counted for each region--)
Larkspur Write-Ins

We're halfway between Denver and Co Springs, and a not bad drive from Elizabeth, and we're lucky! Larkspur Pizza has offered to let us use their restaurant for write-ins on Wednesday nights from 7 till 9ish.

http://maps.google.com/maps/place?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:officia... info here, or contact me, Thystle, through nano- mail.

They have free wi-fi, but limited outlets (we're working on it) and great food. They also have the luxury of being absolutely dead on Wednesday nights. Look forward to seeing y'all there!
Four Corners Region

CALLING ALL COLORADOANS IN THE FOUR CORNERS REGION!

Introduce yourself here and tell why you're joining and what you hope to accomplish. As for me, my name is Katie and I hail from Cortez, the unheard of town tucked as tightly as possible into the western bottom corner of Colorado. I live near Mesa Verde, and if you haven't heard of that, then you are hopeless. TT.TT
Any NaNos along 285 or around Evergreen?

I'm in Conifer and this is my first NaNoWriMo.

Now that Winter is trying to hit us hard (I'm still waiting for Summer of '09 to show its face), I was wondering if there were any NaNos who don't want to brave the trip down the mountain to join in the NaNo meetups in Denver or, heaven forbid, Saudi Aurora! (How DO you write without any mountains and trees outside your window?)

I figured we might be able to meet at the Conifer Safeway - they have a few comfy chairs, lots of outlets, free wi-fi and a fireplace - they close at midnight these days, but we could still hang around until then. Alternatives during the daylight hours include the Evergreen Library.

Perfectionism Problems?

When I write, I tend to overthink things, which explains why I'm at 10%. Does anyone have a way that I can let myself know that I don't have to think of the perfect way to say something on the first try? I'm having troubles managing that perfectionistic tendency of mine...
Thin Air

Breath deep everyone, don't let the thin air get to you. Living up here I know we got what it takes. Breath deep keep going.

I enjoyed my first write-in with little_one, et al, in Alamosa last Friday. As a first timer, I had a lot of questions and I got some good feed back. Learned the value of communicating with other Nanoites. How do you like my un-editing? I'm getting better at it.:-) So just wanted you all to know you are not alone up here in the thin air.

To adamcarb's class especially, best wishes and don't, make that do not, use contractions. You might try giving your characters cute two word names like Ellie Mae or Bobby Jo. Hey, every word counts!

I figure most people are going to the Colorado Springs forum for Pueblo, since it's about 40-50 miles away, but I just wanted to see if anyone out there was in the Pueblo area?

Is there anyone out there?

With a week and a half to go I was just curious to know if there is anyone in Mesa/Delta/Ouray county participating this year, and if so, I could use a few extra writing buddies.

Thanks!
