Anyone need a spring project?

Hi all (if anyone is still out there),

You may have seen an earlier post from me, back in November, about my upcoming show in the Orlando Fringe Festival. Well, it's late January now, and the time is creeping up on me faster than I'd expected. So I'm sending a general announcement to anyone who might be interested in participating...

The show is called Fluency, and it's a two-person romantic comedy. Because it's Fringe, the running time is just under an hour. There will be 4 performances, exact dates/times still TBD.

I'm about to start casting, and will be looking for one man and one woman (ages 18-35). Rehearsals will begin in March and will be held somewhere in the Boynton Beach/surrounding areas.

Also, if anyone's interested in helping out at rehearsals or during the performances, please feel free to be in touch. I could always use an assistant director or a stage manager, or just someone eager to learn about the process of creating theater.

I've done a lot of theater work in NYC, but this will be my first production in Florida. Since I'm still a fairly new transplant to the area, I can use all the help I can get!

You can check my credentials on my website (www.thinkingviolet.com) or on my theater company's rather out-of-date site (www.raketheater.org). For more information, please feel free to email me at raketheater@earthlink.net.

Thanks!

Kimberly
TGIO Party

Ok - I am very late in posting this, but you all should be writing and not reading forums or emails anyway at this point. It's time to celebrate, commiserate, and just generally party. Whether you made it to 50K or not, join us for our ritual Thank Goodness It's Over (TGIO) party. Bring your friends and family (and anyone else who has had to put up with your writing demons this November) and come out to bid another year's NaNoWriMo farewell.

Our TGIO celebration for the Palm Beaches will be held:

WHEN: Saturday, 12/1/07 from 4:30 PM - ????

WHERE: The Historic Blue Anchor Pub
on Atlantic Ave in Delray Beach
We will be there early enough that all ages are welcome!

DIRECTIONS:
http://www.theblueanchor.com/

Hope you all can make it to celebrate and to pick up your NaNo goodies - yes, that's right - I have official NaNo STICKERS for you (wooot!).

RSVP on this thread so I know how big of a table to stake claim to.

Thanks!
Before we all disband and return to our normal lives...

Hi all,

Hope you're all having fun finishing up today! I'm exhausted, and my novel isn't quite finished, but I hit my 50,000th word this morning.

My next project will be a play in the Orlando Fringe Festival in the spring. Since I'm new to the area, I wanted to put out a general call for... uh... help?

I'm looking for actors (1M, 1F), possible places in Boynton/Boca area for rehearsals, referrals of anyone who might want to help out with the production in various ways, suggestions for extremely wealthy people to ask for donations, etc.

If anyone has any info or suggestions, please feel free to send them my way! (you can send emails to raketheater@earthlink.net)

Thanks! Happy last day!

How's everyone doing?

Hey folks,

I'm new to NaNoWriMo, and new to Palm Beach County. Late in the game to join in on the posts, I know, but I wanted to shout out, say hello, and see how you're all doing. This is my first year with NaNo, and I've had a blast with it so far. Never thought I'd actually sit down and write out all the creativity in my head.

Hope you're all doing well in the home stretch!
Shall we catch Ft. Lauderdale?

Hey guys,

A proposal - I know our region will never be among the front runners, but I bet we could improve our standings. As a goal to shoot for, what do you say we try to pass the Ft. Lauderdale region? They've been consistently ahead of us, but I think they may be within striking distance. I figure with 53 people in our region, if we each have one fantastic day and write 2000 words more than our goal, we can just about catch them:

Coincidentally, at just past the halfway point, you can see that I'm just about a couple thousand words behind my 100K pace. I'm not too worried since I'm taking next week off from work, which should let me make some great progress, and as a bonus, if I manage to do 2000 extra one day, I'll be doing my part to catch Ft. Lauderdale. What do you say; who's with me?

Post Write-Ins Here

This is the thread for posting upcoming write-ins. If you plan on heading out to a local coffeeshop, restaurant, library, or other clever public place to get some writing done, post it. It will feel like an appointment that you can't break - you never know if someone else will show up to write with you.

Yes, you will have to do some talking, but bring your headphones and play music so people think you can't hear them and then they won't talk to you (much) and you can write! In public!

This is your month, NaNoWriMoErs....make it great by creating write-ins all over the county....and even in other counties. If you do plan something kind of far-flung, post in the Florida:Elsewhere forum, too.

Write-ins can be greatly productive. Really.

Krista

PS - If you subscribe to this thread, you'll always get emails about posts and know when and where (but not why) people are writingl
ML Appreciation Day

ML Appreciation Day? I don't think Hallmark makes a card for this occasion yet, but with the success of NaNoWriMo, it won't be long before they catch on. Meanwhile, just a note to say...

Krista, great job organizing this group! Even if you never see me at write-ins, I'm glad to see you here on the forums and I have no doubt that this year's crop of writers is benefiting from your support. Keep up the good work; have fun, and I hope your novel's going well too!

Mid Way Day Party & Mini-Write-In - Saturday, November 17th

Every year, half way through, we take a break and party (guilt-free). This is the write in where it is okay to socialize a bit and no one will be annoyed at you for talking too much (or so the theory goes....).

Can I get some of you to chime in with ideas of locations and what time would be best for you? Maybe 4 PM - ??? like the Kick Off? Later? Earlier? Central WPB? Boca? Jupiter? I am pretty flexible, but I know it is hard to work these meetings so that they are convenient to everyone.

You do not have to have 25,000 words to come out and celebrate, but it does help add to the guilt-free feeling of Mid-Way Day (which is actually 11.15, but we do better with turnout on Saturdays). I hope to have more NaNoWriMo Official Swag by then, so please RSVP once we have all the details posted.

Thanks for your ideas and input!
Krista

Kick-Off Party/First Write-In

Ok, so every year Halloween is upon us right before November 1st. You'd think we would have gotten the hang of it by now.

For those who plan to trick, treat, or stay home and starting writing at midnight, we salute you. The rest of us are still trying to figure out our plot (what plot?) and plan how to fit 50,000 words into an absurdly short amount of free time.

Let's get together to celebrate, say hello and (of course) WRITE. I figured I'd wait till the weekend since our weather is bad news today (and probably tomorrow, too). This is the perfect "It was a dark and stormy night" opening line type weather. That doesn't make sense, does it? Well, it doesn't have to! It's (almost) November!

So join us for our 2007 NaNoWriMo Palm Beaches Kick-Off Party and Maybe We'll Do Some Writing Event

DATE: Saturday, November 3rd
TIME: 4 PM - 5 PM Socializing & 5 - 7 PM Writing (later if the the writing spirit continues to move you)
PLACE: Panera Bread on Village Boulevard (this is right off Palm Beach Lakes Blvd about 3-5 minutes from I-95)

Hope to see you all there - bring your fully charged laptops (but there are outlets at this location - and I'll bring the plug strip!). I have goodies from NaNo years past (stickers and stuff) to get you in the mood, and we'll just chat a bit, and then spend some time WRITING.....really......I promise.

Please post an RSVP if you plan to attend so I have a head count for goodies. If we don't have enough peeps to make this time or place, let me know where you are all located and I can plan future events closer to our most active folks.

Krista

Hey folks,

How's it going? You do know it's October 13th already, right? Too early for NaNoWriMo, you say? Not for me, so I'm checking in. Got my outline and character sketches done (well almost); working on some notes and printing out some research materials. Hope you guys are similarly or better prepared!

As usual, I doubt you'll see me out and about at write-ins, but I'll be checking in here to update my progress and see how everyone else is doing.

My story this year will be Oilpunk, a modern fantasy involving the oil industry and other aspects of energy production, taking place in Texas, Florida, the Bahamas, Norway, Spain, and maybe some other places.

Forgiving the newbie

Taken up in the euphoria of finally being able to “write” amongst the NaNoWriMo’s, I committed a most egregious oxymora of newbie mindless thinking when I entered my actual name in the user name space during sign up. (Don’t ask.)
Not that it makes much of a difference in the long run ... but since I did change things up a bit and I DO want to be able to attend a few write-ins I figured it best to throw this post out there. Should anything in the profile look strangely familiar to another WPB-er’s profile well, that’s why. It’s all me and I accept, and am able to live with the shame. My bad. Wah.
(AND, considering the likelihood of this post listing right next to the afore mentioned faux pas it’s not likely I can outrun the shame, now can I? :) )
