Donation Derby - We're #11

Right now the Lubobck region has collected $135....we are just $30 short of being in the Top 10 in our region!

Everyone should be able to donate a little bit. Not only do you get some cool stuff, you help the young writer's program get funding so we can help support future writers. I think of how nice it would have been to have this program when I was a teenager who loved to write.

Let's make Lubbock stand out!!!

I just have to share that I finally made it to 10,000 words! With three kids sick, a softball tournament and a surprise in-law visit, my Nano time suffered but my fingers are flying now. I hope to be caught up by this weekend.

Is anyone else amazed at the people that appear to have hit 50,000 words in the first 10 days? Does that seem impossible to you? I was just reading the '20s Age' forums, and I saw someone with a word count of over 100,000 words. They have to be cheating, or not sleeping.

Is there a Facebook tool/widget for Nanowrimo that would post my Nanowrimo status each day on my FB account? I've been following the advice of "tell everyone you know that you're writing a book in November so that you'll be too embarrassed to fail" and I thought that a tool to post my word count to my FB status each day might inspire me to write faster. :)

Your Novel's Soundtrack

We were discussing this last night at our write-in (which was AWESOME by the way...I love meeting new people who are as crazy as me). Anyhow, we were discussing soundtracks for your novel. I'm very interested to see what type of music you would use to build a soundtrack.

Here's what I have for my novel (so far)

2) Battle of the Heroes

Chapter 7
1) Holla!
2) Sim the Blues
2) One Way or Another
3) Jurassic Park FInale

Chapter 8
-Something creepy as demons have gotten into the house.

When you tell people you are writing a novel everyone gets this weird look on your face I mean, is it really that hard to believe ta people can do other things in Lubbock besides play sports or go to church (no offense meant to anyone who goes to church)???

I guess I'm annoyed because I'm not just computer geek....sigh........

Donate a New Book

I know...I'm harping on donating stuff this week (sorry for that)...

BUT

The mall is hosting a donate a new book to the Covenant Children's Hospital. I have donated quite a few new books and I know the Children's unit would appreciate some new books. Paperbacks, hardbacks...I know they have a need for pre-teen or teenage type books for the older kids. I have a special place in my heart to help preteen and teenagers so I'm passionate about this type of stuff.

How do you promote your work?

I'm just curious as how everyone else promotes their work? I have found another website, called Fan Story which allows you to publish your work and allow others to review. It has been a really great tool for me to help me refine weak areas of what I wrote last year.

Can I just say that Lubbock, TX has the best regional slogan out of all of them. I don't even know that it's supposed to mean, but "Our novels taste like burning!" makes me smile every time I see it.
