I'm kinda new to writing and have been working on this 4ever! I've got most of my plot together but i don't now where to start my book.
It an amaturer detective work, about a 14 year old boy who's best friend died 6 mounths before the book starts( he writes to channel his emotion) his other best friend is a charity working girl running a clothing run ,several things happen and eventually her charity ends its run she decides to throw a party to clebrate(themed to Alice in wonderland, her obcesssion) she never makes the party and is found murdered the next day. i'm feeling like I should start at least two weeks before the little party but that's as far as i can figure out any ideas?
P.s. the book is supposae to the first in a series. the feel howeveris like:
murder she wrote
scooby doo
lizzie mcguire
one tree hill
nacncy drew
and the hardy boys
thrown in a blender. thats for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"I'm feeling like I should start at least two weeks before the little party, but that's as far as I can figure out. Any ideas?"

I think you should start with the girl planning the party.
That way the readers could get to know both this girl and the boy, who in the near future starts acting as an amateur detective.
Also: you can in between all party planning tell the readers of the death of this boy's best friend bit by bit and how it affected him.

Two weeks before the party is backstory, which you have to know and write down, so you can refer to it later, when needed in the story.
