Week 4 Progress!

Can't wait to share your awesome progress during week 4? Inspire the rest of us! Don't hesitate to post in this thread.

Keep writing, wrimos. And don't give up, even if you think your word count is dismal. Great, amazing things have happened in the last week of November. Who knows, perhaps the holiday will just be the thing to get your progress soaring!

I hope all of you have an excellent Thanksgiving break--and don't get so comatose from the turkey that you forget to write!

As a handy guide, here's where you should be on each day this week if you're doing at least 1667 words a day:

Rexburg Wrimos

Hay,

I know that there's at least two other Wrimos here at BYU-I, but is there anybody else here at college or in the town of Rexburg who is taking on this challenge?

By the way, I'm Casey Jewels. I've been writing for the Boise region for the past two years, but now I'm at college. I've been writing since the sixth grade, but I haven't actually completed a novel... I'm nearly finished with my NaNo novel from last year. I'm actually planning on getting it published.

This year I'm doing a fanfiction, because I'm just not really in a position to start a brand new book that could possibly be published. It's a Pokemon fanfiction, but it's not the usual storyline. My character is a double agent in a land at war, but not even she knows whose side she's really on. I've had this idea in my head for years and this year is finally giving me a chance to write it down.

Anyways, enough about me.

What about you?
Week 3 Progress!

It's week three--the week of possibilities, the week where everything opens up and the words come pouring out. You're out of that maze, and you can now find that treasure, defeat those monsters, and finally figure out why there's a flood control dam smack in the middle of your story which really wasn't about floods or dams at all.

As of November 15 it should be the halfway point. I challenge all of you to get to 25,000 by the end of Sunday. And if you're really behind and feel like that's too much of a stretch for one day--I challenge you to at least DOUBLE your current word count before midnight. By the end of week three, you should be at 35,000. I know you can all do it--just put that pencil to paper or fingers to keyboard to keep that word count going up!

On this thread, post about your week 3 progress! Inspire the rest of us and don't hesitate to post in this thread. If you feel like you're struggling with those words, query here and I'm sure someone in the region will post encouragement and suggestions that may help jump start your novel.

As a handy guide, here's where you should be on each day this week if you're doing at least 1667 words a day:

Nov 15: 25006
Week 2 Progress!

Yes, it's week 2 - the dreaded Doldrums. But don't let yourself get stuck like those 19th century whalers in the South Pacific who resorted to gnawing on their fellow sailors' bones! Keep writing even if it does feel like pointless huffing against a warship. Whether it's one word or a thousand, remind yourself that you are making progress. You are far ahead of anyone who claims they want to write a book but have yet even to start.

On this thread, post about your week 2 progress! If you've written just one paragraph or several chapters, we'll all like to hear about it and cheer you on.

As a handy guide, here's where you should be on each day this week if you're doing at least 1667 words a day:

Week 1 Progress!

I hope you're all having a terrific November 1 and are scribbling away on your novel. The first couple of days are always full of excitement so I'm hoping you're using that to keep up the momentum.

On this thread, feel free to post about your week 1 progress! Are you hitting your word count goals? Has your plot taken an unexpected turn? Or has a couple hundred characters named Steve crashed your novel party? Whatever the case, just keep those words coming.

Upper Valley Wrimos - Rexburg to Island Park

Hey, would anyone like to get together for a write-in in Ashton? Maybe a Wednesday evening? I'm checking around for a suitable place. Possibly Trails Inn, since they have WiFi and room for groups. Maybe the Moose Knows if they have room. And there's another bakery/bookstore/coffee house that's about to open up. It looks like a good writer hangout, but I'm not sure if they will open before the end of November.

It is definitely encouraging to see such a delightful collection of Twin Falls area posters.

I am open to coming to a Write-In during November, and I can attend either on Sunday or Wednesday, as long as I know about it in advance. Either the Java Cafe by Blockbuster or Moxie Java Tuscany would work best for me, as long as my laptop can plug into an outlet.

For those who are new to NaNoWriMo this year: welcome aboard! It really isn't impossible to win NaNo, it just seems that way.
Welcome! And Introductions...

Hello Idaho Elsewhere!

I hope you're all as excited as I am to start another noveling season. Whether you're a newbie or a returning wrimo, I want to welcome you all to this forum! First off, if you haven't affiliated with a region yet, please do so. Not only will your word counts be added to the region totals, but you'll also get access to the regional e-mails the MLs will be sending to inform you local events.

The region of Idaho Elsewhere, however, includes all the communities that don't already have their own ML. In this case, I strongly urge you to take the initiative to plan your own Nanowrimo events in your area. If you want to publicize one of your events, just nanomail me the date and location of your event and I can put it up on a calendar for you.

Whew, enough about the preliminaries. A little about myself: I'm Thea, the ML for Moscow. I'm currently a microbiology grad student at the University of Idaho. I've been doing Nanowrimo since 2001--which indicates that I'm either nuts or really, really persistent. If you have any comments or questions, feel free to contact either me or any of the other Idaho MLs and we'll be happy to help you.

And now, how about all of you? Anyone all ready to go yet?
----------
Adding Local Events to the Events Calendar

Finally figured out when and where you're going to have your local events but need to publicize it on the forums?

Then let me know the date, time, and location of your kick-off parties/write-ins/TGIO parties via nanomail and I will put it up on the forum's event calendar for you. It's that easy!
