The TGIO party is a go for Saturday December 1st at the Pizza Shope (on the north west corner of Appleway and 95) at 6:00 (not sure when it will end, probably around 7:30).
The Pizza Shope's address is: 501 E Appleway.

It doesn't matter if you made it to 50k or not, or if you came to any of the write-ins, everyone is welcome! The more the merrier! :-D
Also, please drop me a quick note if you are coming so I know how many to expect. Thanks!

I've got some really cool NaNo parting gifts for everyone and a few left over plot bunnies who need good homes. How can you say no to pizza and fluffy little plot bunnies? ;-)

name meanings

i know it's a bit late to get a lot of forum goers on this corner of the wobsite, but

the meaning behind the username?

for me, Elouise Gilbertz is a silly name that I'm using as the character who writes my story. (ie, the 'editor's note' at the end says that the novel you have just completed was found in the remains of a shark along with the author, Elouise Gilbertz.)

Gilbertz was my great grandma's maiden name, and I think it's terribly pretty. :D

Wow, where has the month gone? I hope everyone is doing well with some last minute noveling.

The TGIO party is scheduled for 12/1 Saturday, 1 pm at Sister's Brew. Everyone is welcome to come--whether you've finished or not--and join in the end of Nano festivities. It'll be a time where we can swap tales of our writing woes and joys and of all the crazy turns our novels have taken us. And if you'd like, you can also bring a short excerpt (a few paragraphs long) of your novel to share.

Post here (or pm me) if you're planning to attend or have any questions/comments/suggestions about the meeting.

Meanwhile, we still have a few more days left. Write on, everyone!

Twin Falls Write ins

Becca and I were the only ones to show up for our planned write-in last night. At least I thought we'd planned it. :) Hope everyone is doing well on their word counts. Becca and I both added a good bit to ours at the write-in.

Moscow: Write-ins

November is just around the corner and I hope everyone is getting ready to go, whether it be fingers to keyboard, pencil to paper, or practicing your smoke signaling mojo. November also means that there will be write-ins, and several of those will be scheduled in Moscow throughout the month.

If you haven't been to a write-in before, it's basically a meeting of Nanowrimo participants where everyone can compose their novels among fellow writers. It's not required that you attend, but a write-in can be a bit of a social break too--after all, writing is primarily a lonely business. People can write on their own, brainstorm about the next part of their plots, or even chat and vent out frustrations when the novel isn't going so well. Just bring a laptop or paper plus writing utensil and you'll be set to go.

Currently, the write-in schedule is as follows:

11/3, Saturday, 1-4pm, Sister's Brew
11/10, Saturday, 2:15-4pm, TBD
11/17, Saturday, 1-4pm, TBD
11/24, Saturday, 1-4pm, TBD

At Sister's Brew (the corner of 3rd and Main), we will be meeting in the back room with the nice big table. Right now TBD = Sister's Brew, but I will be calling a couple places to see if I can reserve some other venues. If anyone wants to organize their own write-ins during the weekdays rather than the weekend, feel free to post when and where you're meeting in this thread. Also, the TGIO party is tentatively scheduled for 12/1 Saturday, 1-4pm at Sister's Brew, but tune in late November for an actual thread to discuss the times/places which might work for everyone.

For up-to-date info on the Moscow write-ins and links to other write-ins in the area (Pullman), check this thread frequently as well as the Events Calendar ( http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/og_calendar/21 ). If you have any questions/comments/suggestions or just want to say that you will be attending one of these events, reply to this thread or feel free to contact your municipal liaisons (me or Kamiah).

Idaho Falls Write Ins

I have listed our first write in already mentioned in the Forum, in the Events Callender. You will want to check there to find about future events as they occur. I will repeat event info here.

We'll be meeting Saturday November 3rd at the Villa in Idaho Falls from 2- 4 pm. Come meet fellow writers, get some writing done and have a chance at some of the free goody bags I'll be giving away.

I will be setting up a write in once a week unless I hear that people want to meet more often. In some regions they meet twice a week, but we are small so I don't think that will be necessary. It appears most people preferred nights and weekends so we will try both. If you have a weeknight preference please send me a email with your preference and I will pick a night that is preferred by most people. For those of you who live far away and do not want to travel for a write in, feel free to schedule something in your own town. Attending a write in is not mandatory, just a fun thing to do. I hope to see you on Saturday.

I see several people signed in here from Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Sandpoint, etc -- are you guys organizing any events or write-ins for your area?

It looked like last year things were starting for form up for you, and I was hoping that you folks in the Panhandle would become your own discrete region this year, instead of being part of the greater elsewhereness of Idaho.

I know it's a bit of a drive, but feel free to drop in on any of the Spokane events, if you don't have something scheduled on your side of the border. I'll get the Spokane schedule posted just as soon as TPTB activate the events calendar -- in the meantime, feel free to affiliate with Spokane if you want to keep in touch with what's going on over here.

Yikes, I’ve just realized that October is already more than halfway over. And all I’ve got is a bare-bones outline. Not that it’s a bad thing, of course, but there are probably a lot more people more prepared then I am.

So how is everyone’s novel planning (or lack thereof) going? Do you have a plot? Putting on the final touches to your twenty page outline and raring to go? Going to sit back and write by the seat of your pants? Or maybe somewhere in between?

Moscow: Kick-off Party

Okay, I figure we should start planning when and where to do a kick-off party as early as possible so people can put it on their calendar. A kick-off party, for those of you not in the know, is basically a party where all the Nanowrimo participants in the area get together--usually at some eating establishment--unless someone is brave enough to loan us their house--and eat and talk about the craziness that will ensue during November. There's also the possibility that the Moscow kick-off will be combined with the Pullman kick-off. The more the merrier, I'd say.

So if you're interested, just post in this thread (or PM me if you're too shy) the answers to the following survey questions and we'll muddle through some consensus before the actual party.

I have few preferences--I will happily go along with whatever everyone decides.

1. Are you available at any of these times: a) 10/26 Friday evening; b) 10/27 Saturday afternoon; c) 10/27 Saturday evening; d) 10/28 Sunday afternoon; e) 10/28 Sunday evening. Out of the times that you could attend, which would you prefer?

2. Where would you like to have the party? Suggestions?
I can only think of The Ale House and Casa de lopa--or whatever its real name is--at the moment. Any other place is fine with me though.

3. If the kick-off party happens to be in Pullman, do you need transportation?

4. Unrelated, but I figure I'll ask this anyway: For write-ins during November, what day of the week would you prefer?
I would rather it be Saturday or Sunday.

5. Any other questions/suggestions/comments?

Idaho Falls Kickoff Meeting.

Hi this is Kate and I am the ML for the area. Of what I can tell it looks like we have 14 people so far, although we have some from Jackson and Blackfoot and they may not make it to any events. I mentioned before I thought it would be fun to meet at the Pizza Hut near Fred Meyer on the 26 or 27th. So far Maple said she can't come. What about the rest of you? If there is not enough interest we'll just cancel that and concentrate on Write Ins.

I am suggesting the first one for the Villa on November 3rd 2-4 pm. Other options for future meetings could be the new Starbucks on Broadway,which is small or Dancing Dogs which may be too far for some people to drive. Are there any of you who would like to meet during the day for a write in ?

We are not affiliated with the library group but I will be talking to Jen about their group and possible joint events.

Please feel free to fire away any questions you have.

Moscow: October Meet-ups

So the Moscow ML (Jo Ann) and I were discussing about possible times and places to have an October meeting. The idea is to have a get-together so that everyone can meet and introduce themselves to other Moscow Nanowrimo participants, talk about their novel plans (or lack thereof), brainstorm, and other writer-ly stuff. If we end up picking a cafe or other similar location, it might also be a good idea to bring along a dollar or two for coffee--if you're into that kind of thing.

We're planning on meeting this coming Sunday (October 14) at 2pm.

UI Student Union Building
One World Cafe
The Co-op
