Hey everyone! I'd love to hear how you introduced your main character, or one of them. Please include an excerpt in this forum if you take my challenge!

This is the introduction to my antagonist: Apolla Umbrium, CEO of the Moon Mining Corporation...

A woman in her young middle years approached them. She was obviously a Daughter of God, with her scarf, but her scarf didn’t cover her face. It was pinned on her chestnut brown hair, halfway down her head, and instead of robes, she wore a modest business suit with a skirt. She could have almost passed for a regular person.

But Kane saw her face and he knew that she wasn’t a regular person. He could see passion and zeal in her eyes. She believed in her life. Probably both in the Church and in the Mining Corporation. He would be careful with her.

Write in report

Hey! Our first write-in at Hunter Activity Center, Westminster Campus was quite a success! We had at least 3 word wars and got a chance to share our novels with each other. Two nanorocks came along to support our writing endeavor, and one, (Mine) came for the ride, but seemed to hide out in the car. (Nervous about being around all that great talent, I suppose.)

The facilities were great, we had plenty of plug ins and we all managed to add to our word count.

We missed everyone who couldn't attend, and look forward to hopefully seeing you next Saturday, same place, same time, (1-4 pm) so that we can go up even farther in the world's word count!

Write-ins

I've got Write-Ins scheduled for Saturdays throughout November, and it looks like we're going to have a room available at Westminster (Christopher's mom ROCKS!). More details to follow on that. Is there another day/time/location that you would like to request a write-in? And . . . we're flexible, happy folks in this region, so impromptu write-ins are always encouraged!

If any of you happen to be in Columbia during the work day, let me know & we can do a lunch write-in!

Pre-Nano Brainstorming Meeting?

'ello.
I was wondering if there were going to be any meetings before November.
I've tried to Nano the last several years and have never gotten beyond, I think, 13k words.
I have an idea for what I want to write, which is both more and less than I've had in previous years, and I would enjoy a chance to talk to anyone else who's writing in Fulton about their books as I try to define mine.
I could really do for some enthusiasm leeching considering my track record, but this is the first year I've worked full time (previously was a student) and so this time around I'll have a set number of hours at the same time each day to devote to this. Hopefully that'll be the difference, because I remember last year writing 90% of my attempt during Thanksgiving break and then becoming swamped.

Anyway, how about it?

Book Sale

We're putting together a book sale to benefit the Office of Letters and Light. The idea is to sell books ($1.00 for hardbacks, $.50 for paperbacks) and then split the profits between our local group and the awesome authorly peeps at the Office of Letters & Light. Thursday evenings (4-6) at Bek's. Let me know if you'd like to donate books or work the booth. And tell everyone you know to stop by and browse our selections!
