Weekend write ins, the wrap party, & other important stuff

Hi everybody!

This is just a reminder of this weekend's events. Tomorrow is the normal write in at Crispers, from 6pm-9pm. If anyone wants to go longer, we can walk over to the Starbucks right across the parking lot. Sunday is another write in, the final write in. That one's at Panera, in the Page Field shopping center, and is scheduled from 5pm-8pm. If anyone is interested in starting earlier, let me know!

The wrap party is Monday night, at Olive Garden in Fort Myers, from 5pm-8pm. The address is 12870 Cleveland Avenue. This celebration is open to everybody, those who finished, those who didn't, whether or not you ever came to a meeting or not. If you would like to bring your significant other, please feel free! I would appreciate it if you would RSVP by Sunday to me in whatever manner you'd like if you plan on being there, so I know how many people to reserve space for.

This is important: make sure your time zone is set right in your profile!!! If it's wrong, you could actually lose time for validating! To check, go to My NaNoWriMo, Edit User Settings, and scroll down until you see Locale Settings, Time Zone.

If you haven't donated to the Office of Letters and Light, I want to encourage you briefly to do so. These guys run a pretty awesome show around here, and help out a lot of different people with their Young Writers Program. You are certainly not required to donate, and times are tight enough that it's understandable if you can't. Every penny helps, though!

On that note, just a reminder that our very own ladyhope21 is providing an incredible service to us by donating her profits from her November Avon sales to Letters and Light. If you haven't checked out her thread, it's HERE.

I will also be doing a couple of raffles this weekend and on Monday for some cool prizes, so bring a few bucks if you think you'll be interested. I'll provide a receipt of donation of the funds here on the boards, so you know your money went where it was supposed to.

Well, I don't know about you, but I'm having difficulty believing it's almost the end of the month. However, my calendar says it is, so it must be true. Yikes!

As per tradition, we will be having a little party/get together on December 1st, to celebrate our survival. Whether you reach 50k or not, I would love for you to join us! Feel free to bring a favorite portion of your story to share with the group, or tell us about a character you really loved...or hated. ;P

I've been thinking about having the party at Olive Garden, in Fort Myers. How does that sound to everyone else? I would greatly appreciate input and suggestions!

Rachel has succumbed - cancelled write ins

Hey all,

I'm so sorry to do this, but I've finally succumbed to the sickness that's been going around. Since this means I'm sniffling and hacking very nastily, I'm going to have to cancel tonight and tomorrow's write ins. That is the main write in at Crispers, tonight, and the write in at Naples Panera tomorrow. I am so, so sorry.

Please feel free to go to Crispers tonight anyway and still hold the write in. All this means is that I won't be there.

My Naples friends, I can't tell you how sorry I am to have to cancel! If any of you are up to a weekday write in, let me know and I'll do my best to figure one out!

I hope to get better quickly, so I'm not canceling my attendance at Tuesday's Fort Myers Panera write in, yet. I'll make sure to let you know what's up ahead of time.

College NaNo complaints

If I could count the words of all the essays I wrote this week I'd probably be almost caught up in my word count. But psychoanalyzing Dido has no place in my story (despite the fact that is it almost utterly random and involves the trojan wars in some respect).
Tonight will be my third all-nighter, but I still don't get to novel more than just a few hundred words when I take breaks from the history and literature essays.
All I can say is that I am looking forward to Thanksgiving break and my 3 hours of flight and a 3 hour layover.
NaNo is not easy in college!

Naples Write In plans

Hi everybody!

First of all, I want to apologize: I was supposed to post this on Tuesday. Now it's Friday. How the heck that happened, I'm not sure, but there we are.

Anyway, I've been thrilled to get responses from Naples etc folks who want to meet further south than Fort Myers! So, here's the deal. Sunday afternoons are the best time for me. Is this Sunday too short notice for you guys? If so, we can do next week instead. I think the best suggestion I've gotten for location is the Panera on Naples Blvd. and Airport. Any other ideas? Problems with the suggestions?

I'll add this as a comment on the other thread, as well, so hopefully no one misses it.

Naples Write Ins

Hello Naples writers!

This year, I'd like to have at least one Write In in Naples, so those who can't make it to Fort Myers have a chance to be a part of the meetings and get to know their fellow writers. Those of you who would be interested in attending (it doesn't have to be a definite yes or anything!), give me your thoughts and ideas! I don't get down to Naples very often, so I'm relying on you guys for good locations!

Also, I need to know what days and times are best for you guys. I work till 4:30-ish, and have class Monday nights, but any evening other than that is fair game. Sunday during the day would be my ideal, but I'll do my best to work with everyone.

Will I miss the Saturday night write in. Yes and no. I wont be there so yes. I'll be with friends (30) from here and across the US enjoying getting older and rehashing old times with a bottle of two so no. Have fun and don't let Tia or Shara win all the word wars. If they do tell them they are going to be the next character in your story to.... Let their imagination fill in the rest. I'll be back next Saturday. I am also thinking of having a Write in at my house (in the cape) on the 28th black Friday for those who don't want to do that day after thanksgiving shopping.

Due to the lack of limozeen transportation and our busy schedules, Sundays will no longer work for the Cape coral gathering of the Royal Writer's Society.

Due to this, the Cape Coral group will be joining the Fort Myers Writers Circle at Panera's. For those who do not wish to ride that far, It is suggested that we meet in a central location and will gather in one or two capable carriages and continue our journey from said location.

Other dates for the Royal Writer's Society of Cape Coral will be announced when they become available.

Cape Coral Write Ins

Hi guys!

Although I attended last Sunday's, I just wanted to remind you all that I will not be at the Cape Coral Write Ins on 11/9, 11/16, 11/23. These were planned by another NaNoer, and so are not "official" Write Ins. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't go! Although it was just me and Dan last Sunday, we had a great time and got a good amount of writing done. In addition, the location is very nice. But I don't want anyone to be angry with me if they show up and I'm not there. :)

Final Kick Off post (finally, lol!)

Alright, here's the good news! Crispers, in Fort Myers, across Daniels from the Bell Tower, in the same plaza as the Barnes & Noble, has agreed to give us meeting space for every Saturday in November! They have delicious food, coffee, free wifi, and outlets. I've decided that they would be the best location for our Kick Off Party, as well.

Now, I know they're more centrally located for at least four people who are planning to be there, but what about the rest of you? Were you going to go to the Kick Off, but won't, if it's at Crispers? Will you go to Crispers, when you couldn't have gone to Panera at Coconut Point? Tell me what you think, everyone!

Awesome write-in Nov 1

So, for those of you who like to write to music, you might be interested in coming to the Ave Maria Write-in this evening. At 8:00 the Celtic "Adrenaline" Fiddle band Scythian will be playing.
The concert is at the fountain in front of the Oratory (the big Church building in the middle of the town, you can't miss it). The Bean (which is where all of the write-ins are held) is at the back of the Oratory, making it the perfect place to sit and write while enjoying the free concert.

So come hang out in Ave tomorrow night!

So it's October 27. Nano starts in four days (not counting today).

I don't know about the rest of you, but i'm starting to freak out a little. I'm not used to this feeling, either. Excitement, some trepidation, more excitement, a little bit of terror of the, "I'm about to do what?!" variety. Right now, though, I'm actually freaking. o_O

I think part of the problem is that i actually had the starts of a novel idea (something I NEVER have before November 1. I usually just start typing and see what kind of story comes out), and i was kind of excited about it, and then it...just kinda...died. heck if i can figure out why it died, either. :( Now, though, because of said dead story, i'm sorta without anything to write? o_o While this shouldn't bother me (see previous four years of winning without having a clue beforehand), i'm still freaking out because i *HAD* an idea. and now it's gone. and omfg. D:

...well, that was pointless. ~laughs~ anyone else ready for this shindig to get moving? or would rather it be december? or maybe even april? XD
