Desoto County/ Northwest MS Get Together

Myself and a few other local NaNo's from the area will be meeting at around 2:00pm on Sunday at the Olive Branch McCalister's till whenever. We'll be the one's with laptops covered in stickers and I'll be there wearing a black skii mask thingy. We'll try to put a little poster up by our table that says something like "DANGER! NaNo's On the Prowl, Character Death Imminent!" or something silly like that. So watch out for us! If you think you can come, please post something on this thread or drop me a message. We look forward to meeting you!

I just went over the 40,000 mark and scouted out the people in my kitchen for a few more ideas to move the story to the grand finale which has been planned from the beginning.

Kind of like a 25th wedding anniversary; you know you'll get silver, but you have no idea how you will be getting there (most days).

Hang in fellow crazy people. This is truly nuts. But I know we can make it if we superglue our butts to the chair.

As of right now November 13th we have FOUR mississippi wrimos who have over fifty thousand words already which is so exciting and several people who are very close to hitting it also... I just wanted to congradulate those four and everyone else that is still plugging along on their stories keep up the hard work and before you know it you will be here to!

Gulf Coast get-together?

It seems we have a decent representation here, would anyone be interested in a get-together? Barnes and Noble is a bit busy but maybe someone can find us another place with wi-fi.

Please post suggested times and dates and places. Then hopefully we can find a common denominator.

Me, this week I am free today, tomorrow and Saturday. Next week :mon, tue, Sunday. And all days after 8pm. So if it's one of those days you can start without me and I'll catch up:)

I ended the weekend with just a bit over 3,000 words and I figure I'll need to write about 1700 each day to make the goal.

I don't know if I'll be able to do a day-by-day entry. I might end up writing in spurts.

What about everyone else? How are you progressing? What is your process? Do you think you'll knock out smaller numbers daily or bigger numbers weekly?

Since this region is so big I was thinking about having some meetups online so that we can still do some write-a-thons with a lot of people there... Please let me know if this is something that people would be interested in.

We can vote on times and days that would work the best for everyone.

If there are a lot of people semi near Columbus we could also have some actual in person Writing sessions!

I'm starting classes today, as well as working and everything else--like I don't have enough to add a challenge to NaNoWriMo already? By some miracle, I am only about 1500 words behind where I should be, which is a heck of a lot better than last year! I wanted to be ahead, but c'est la vie. ROFL

Almost Half Way!

We are almost at the half way mark...

I just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing! :)

Just think in another 17 days we can all actually sleep and maybe even get caught up on some TV. Okay I will admit that it will be December then so that means that I will have a lot of christmas shopping to do and I live in a place where there are is not really any good shopping. Okay maybe it should stay November for a few months so I do not have to think about getting ready for christmas...

So who is with me in wanting it to stay November for a few months? Or are you looking forward to December? Why?

Hi everyone *waves*

I am your new ML for Mississippi and I just wanted to stop and say Hi to everyone! I just recently moved here to Mississippi but I was one of two MLs for Northern Indiana for two years. I have also done NaNoWriMo for three years before this winning in 2006 and 2007... 2005 was a rough year and I well did horrible *laughing* !

I just wanted to remind everyone that we now have less then two weeks until November 1st and all the fun (and all the tears too) we will have writing! I hope to see everyone there and that you all do well and meet your writing goals but most importantly I hope that everyone has a lot of fun. :)

If anyone has any questions or comments please email me or leave a message on the region board. Because of the size of this region I was thinking about doing our write-a-thons online so more people could participate.

For all of those out there interested in participating in NaNoWriMo and live in the Greater-Memphis and Desoto County Areas, there will be a local kick off party/meeting taking place on November 1st at 8:30 pm at the Starbucks in Olive Branch, MS (right across from Wal-Mart). Feel free to bring your lap-tops or good old fashioned pen and paper to this meeting. There will be plenty of opportunity to discuss your noveling ideas and to share your goals with other writers from the area, but most importantly, a brief moment to relax before you take the caffeine induced plunge into the complete and utter madness of NaNoLand. Please drop a message if you'll be able to attend. I look forward to hearing from you!

Just thought I'd get the word out to everyone in the greater-Memphis and Desoto County area that there will be a NaNoWriMo kick-off meeting/party on November 1st at 8:30 pm at the Starbucks in Olive Branch (right across from the Wal-Mart). Feel free to bring your laptops and/or some good old fashioned pen and paper as we sit down to discuss (and possibly write) some of our novel ideas. Most importantly, this meeting is intended to get everyone excited about writing their novels and to provide the opportunity to meet some other WriMo in the area. That way, we can all jump into NaNoLand on the same sinking ship and, who knows, we might be able to meet again during the month. Please send a reply if you will be able to attend.
