Greetings, Wrimos!

After scribbling feverishly and nonsensically all weekend, I am caught up and thinking I might just pull this off this year. I hope most of you are the same, or are at least impressed with yourselves for all you've managed to accomplish so far this month.

I know there's this goofy holiday coming up this week, but if anyone wants to get together for write ins (or away from family gatherings for a bit) reply to this thread with some times/ places you might be free. We also need to start thinking about a possible TGIO (Thank God It's Over) party. I'd love to hear creative ideas on how we can do something despite our varied locations around the state.

I think I can make myself available Friday and Saturday for some writing event or other. Maysville? Anyone there still up for a gathering at that pub you told me about?

Keep writing, everybody. It's almost over!

Dear Neighboring Regions (and Australia),
Greetings from fly, the ML for NaNo Nashville. This year, we are having our own ginormous write a thon, which we'll be holding the same time those out in Cali are having theirs (well, mostly). We would very much like you all to come. In fact, I would very much like to have so many writers that our total writers word count EXCEEDS that of the Cali event.

Details are as follows. Please post here if you can come.
NOTE: You only need to RSVP to one thread for this event.

The Evening of Scribbling Recklessly is on 11/22 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Nashville.

Where: 2300 Knights of Columbus Blvd. Nashville, TN

Where? - From I-40, exit Briley Parkway South (exit 215A), take the first LEFT onto Knights of Columbus Blvd.

When - 11/22 from 4-10 PM.

Important Notes:
$10 donation required for admission. This is in addition to any donation you've made. I will waive this for anyone that can prove they came from Australia.
Bring a side dish to share. Remember, we're pretty much all going to have computers handy, so stay away from really messy stuff. :)

We will be having a ton of giveaways.
You can get tickets for these givaways in a number of ways:
- Admission fee. Yes, you automatically get tickets for showing up.
- Bringing a dish to share like you're supposed to
- Wear a NaNo t-shirt. This can be from any year, and can be national or regional. I'll also accept Script Frenzy and Office of Letters and Light shirts for this.

- Additional tickets can be purchased.

Made me wonder if anyone else is trying to take advantage of this beautiful hiking weather and managing Nano at the same time. I'd anticipated being behind, and I'm practically unemployed at the moment so I should have no issues catching up.

EKU--Brockton Apartment--Write in?

Okay. So I need some serious butt kicking/encouragment to write. I BLAZED through the first 20k, but for some reason it's not been so easy after. I am willing to invite a few of the Richmond/EKU NaNos over to my apartment in Brockton at EKU to come write. You'd have to bring your own pop or whatever (hell, bring alcohol, I don't care) but the point of this is I know you guys did this in Powell last night, but you probably had to leave around 1AM. You can bring microwavable food :P I'm also making home made veggie soup soon, so someone could dig into that.

The Monday write in was a no-go for me. I have a friend in a band, and they always kidnap my computer for recording. Meh. LOL. That was another impeding factor on my word count... I wrote two pages on paper, but one of the guy's friends came over and through off my writing groove by introducing me to his chinese crested.

Any takers?

Virtual Write Ins, and Thanks

Greetings, Kentucky Elsewhere Wrimos!

Thanks first of all to all of you for your kind words on ML appreciation day, and in general for being so supportive of each other and Nano in general. I have met some of you in person and others in the chat room, and I hope to meet more of you before the month is out.

When I started as ML, I had not really attended many Virtual Write-ins; I either worked at home alone or went to meet ups in the local area. I now see that I need to set some guidelines so I don't feel the temptation to be in the chat room all the time procrastinating, and at the same time people who drop by don't feel so lonely when nobody responds to their greeting.

Live write ins tend to have a short period at the beginning and end where people talk as they're unpacking or packing up their laptops. Other than that, they are focused on the all important task of beating each other's word count.

So what I propose is this: I commit to being in the chat room for the first 5 minutes at the beginning and end of the scheduled write in. If anyone is there, I'll be happy to talk. Other than that, feel free to leave a message for the room with your word count/ observations/ encouragement and everyone will see it when they next log in.

I also commit to being wherever I've said the live write in will be. Monday Nights are the Kenton County Library branch in Independence KY. Saturday Mornings I've decided on the Bean Haus in Covington as a venue. One Saturday I hope to get out to Maysville, but that is still being worked out. Sunday afternoons will be Reality Tuesday in Park Hills. Others will be added to the Calendar as time permits. If anyone else wants to commandeer the chat room for your virtual or real write in, let me know so I can put it on the calendar.

And now, I really have to get to it. My husband gryphon is leaving me in word count dust.

Hey all. The Richmond Wrimos are going to be hosting a write-in on Monday, November 9th. It will be starting around 5pm, and will continue until people get tired. We may get food if several people show up, but we'll be meeting in Middle Powell, so food is right downstairs if we don't end up ordering. We may also talk about doing one on Tuesday as well, depending on schedules. I don't have any kind of indicator, but we'll try to come up with a sign or something so people know who they're looking for.

Hey everybody! I see we already have some eager folks from around the state chomping at the bit to get started (or with waaay too much time on their hands. I'm envious of that.) We may not be able to all meet in person, but I've gotten some of my best ideas chatting with people during virtual write-ins. I'll work on setting up a google calendar this weekend-- if you have any closer to home events you'd like me to post, send me a nano mail with the details (date, time, place).

I'm in Northern Kentucky and was hoping to convince Nano to make us our own region this year, and not the stepchild of the very fun Cincinnati Region. If any of you live in that neighborhood, drop me a line and we can do some live write ins. But I am excited and humbled to be able to serve all of you, no matter where you live Elsewhere in the great Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Anyone have particular preferences for dates/ times of Virtual (or real) Write ins? I teach a Thursday night class and several morning/ early afternoon ones as well, but other than that I could probably make myself available on AIM.
