That their typing becomes worse and worse the closer they get to their word goal?

I am particularly having trouble getting my typing rows correct... for instance, that last bit read before correction:

"I an patriculary ahing trouble getiing my tyrping rows correct."

FRENCH PRESS FRIDAYS!!!!

Our weekly write in at French Press on Williams Blvd in Kenner will start a little early this week, beginning at 4pm and stretching until closing, or our fingers cramp up horribly, or pass out in fits of creative agony. Regulars include Me(Kahunah), Raneboe, Vandalheart, and Brouhahah, but all are welcome to attend for a little camaraderie, a little coffee, and lots of writing.

Again, that's French Press Coffee house, 3236 Williams Boulevard, Kenner, LA 70065, on friday, the 20th from 4-closing(11pm). Hope to see you there!

And all it truly inspired was a nightmare about me and my writing posse falling victim one by one to rabid Koalas as we slogged across the outback.

So, how's everyone doing? I know our French Press writing group has had a few casualties this weekend, but I'm curious about how other NOLAWriMos are faring as we plunge fearlessly into week three.

word count

OK I don't know if my word count is realy 10,221, I forgot what the number was when I hit the "recount" button but that was in the ballpark. When I left the 'Press I needed less that 50 words to make the 10,001 word budget. By the time I got home, filled Sondra in on what transpired after she left and got R2 all setup and turned on I noticed that it was 11:50.

In a panic I scrolled down to the end of the page, scanned the last 1/8 inch of type to see where I left off and started typing like the wind, brain nolonger fully engadged.

I finished the last little bit I had left and after I edited out (I know, no editing allowed!) the bit about "The adventures of Cloud, Gentalman Chocobo Rancher (my wife was playing Final Fantacy 7 in the forground and my mind wandered off task). I saw that it was 12:10 am and I was a few hundred over the quota.

I've decided that, Frack it, it counts!

I'm only +89 on the budget. Kind of "hit the wall" so to speak.

Tried writing at home last night, that dosn't really work for me. Way too many distractions. The night before I forgot my wife's IPod and had to put up listing to a bunch of snobby "Suburban 40 something" women complain about everything.

I realize that when I go back to revise (in December) I'm going to add a lot of bulk to my story, that now I'm just trying to get it done I'm not really fleshing it out enough. Maybe in week four if I run out of story and I don't have 50K I'll do a few scenes, but not now.

I'm so not editing, I doubt I'm even writing in english anymore, but have invented my own gibberish language.

I've even skipped a whole seen, I just didn't want to write it. Well not right now. It's kinda a crucial scene so it has to happen, I really like it, I just don't feel like writing it now. I'll do it this weekend, after I rest up and unwind.

Ok I'll shut the hell up now.

Touro Hospital question

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know how many floors Touro Hospital has? I think it has three floors, but I can not find out if I am correct or not
from the hospital's web site. I can not remember and since I have, since Katrina, always been "delivered" to the East Jefferson Hospital's Emergency Room, I am not really sure anymore how many floors Touro has in it. I know it is one of the few hospitals left in New Orleans besides Ochsner Hospital that actually still has an emergency room and is still open.

A bunch of us will be getting together for an impromptu write-in at French Press at 3236 Williams Boulevard in Kenner on friday night at around 6 in hopes of getting ahead of our word counts. I personally intend on being there till around 11, or my eyes start bleeding from staring into the monitor. I'll be the one with the power strip (Just in case) and a T-shirt that says:

"English doesn't borrow from other languages... it follows them down dark alleys, beats them over the head, and rumages through their pockets for loose grammar"

It really does pay to have your outline before hand. This story is just whizzing by...I'll probably be crying in my coffee around 30,000 because it's falling apart, but we'll see when we get there.

Good luck (NOLA - NANO's)...even a few minutes two or three times a day can really make a difference.

Everyone that I tell that I'm doing NaNoWriMo has been very supportive.

Some are encouraging, some tease to egg on, most are in aw checking in my office to see the new daily word count.

Everyone that is except one...That person just told that I'm wasting my time for nothing and that if this is one of those things I want to accomplise durring my life I must be a very, very boring person.

I think I'm going to have run her over with a street car now. ;-)

Hello all NOLA Wrimos:

I could get my Uncle, a library worker, to let us use a big, comfy library room on Saturday, November 14, 2009.

We would be at the East Bank Regional Library.

The room would have electrical plugs, so we could bring our surge protectors and laptop chargers.

I think there will also be beanbags we can borrow to lounge around on; chairs with tables can be used, too.

I was thinking we could go from around 9:00AM-2:00PM; you could come and go as you please.

After, or even during our write-in, we could all possibly go eat lunch in the library's little cafe.

If anyone is interested, please post the times you feel are convenient.

Is anyone in New Orleans a teenage participant besides me?

A little interaction, anyone? It seems like all us New Orleanians bury ourselves away for the month of November! I know we've got some WriMos out there, and even if no one's planning any NaNo events, we can still hang out on the forums!

So hello there. I'm Mary-Catherine, and this is my second year doing NaNoWriMo. I won last year, despite two computer crises, one jump drive malfunction, and a mysterious case of a disappearing scene. I don't think I did ANYTHING on the forums last year, but I'm hoping to change that this time around.

To all you first year NaNoers, I have some advice: 1) Always back up your stuff. 2) Don't let yourself get behind in your writing. and 3) You're in New Orleans! We have some pretty strong inspiration on our hands! If you're stuck, sit in a cafe in the French Quarter or grab a notebook and walk along the river. It almost always helps!

And if any experienced WriMos have some advice, I'm sure everyone would love to hear it. Even if you don't have any tips or stories from last year, why don't you come by and say hi to your regional buddies anyway?

First one to reply gets a cookie. : )
