Sunday 11/30 Snow Update

Sunday may be a bust for our last write-in/write-a-thon. Snow is being predicted for the Fitchburg/Leominster area.

The current predictions indicate that most of the snow will happen after 4pm.

Here is what I am planning to do:
- The write-a-thon begins at 1pm.
- If nobody shows up by 2pm, I am leaving so I don't have to drive in too much snow.
- If people do show up, we won't be working past 3:30 or until the snow starts to fall... whatever happens first.
- If it is snowing at 1pm, I am not going to make it and I encourage you to stay home as well.
- If the snow starts before 2, I am also going to leave early.
- If it is snowing by you when you want to leave, I encourage you to not do so.

Once the snow starts, I will be here on the forum until 8pm. Look in this post for challenges. I will post a new challenge every 15-20 minutes.

Friday, November 28- Update

I know I said I would be at Starbucks tonight, but I changed my mind. I have won and need a break before I help others reach 50K tomorrow and Sunday.
I will be at Starbucks tomorrow (Saturday) morning as I am now going to help everyone who shows up! Plus, after we are going to grab food and see Twilight as a reward.

Oxford/Auburn area anyone?

Hi guys!

I hope everyone is keeping up with their word counts. I'm a little ahead at this point, but I'm losing steam fast. I was wondering if any of you are in the Oxford/Auburn area and if you'd like to meet up... The Oxford library is open until 8pm Tues-Thurs. They are also open on Saturdays until 4pm.

I know I had mentioned it in a previous thread, but there is a bakery/coffee shop in Oxford too but I haven't had a chance to get ahold of them for their hours. (I tend to write at night so that's when I think of calling... but obviously they are closed then).

Anyway, I don't know if there is anything in the Auburn area that would work but I am willing to look into it!

Ok. Enough procrastinating.

I will be at B&N in Lincoln Plaza again tonight, hoping to put some serious wordage down on laptop before Thanksgiving festivities rev up. I may not be there right at 7pm (hair appt at 6) but don't let that or the dreary weather stop you! Starbucks has super yummy caffeinated drinks to warm you up again.

Leominster Write-A-Thons to Hit 50K

This is it: the homestretch. How close are you to 50K? How much writing are you really going to get done this week?

I may be ahead now, but come Friday I will probably be behind again. I am sure there are many others who will find themselves a bit behind on Friday. This weekend we will be having write-a-thons to get all of us to 50K!
Leominster may be far for you to drive, but consider coming out this weekend for one of our write-a-thons.
Here are the days, times and locations:

- Saturday from 1pm - 9pm at the Starbucks (off of rt. 2 by the Mall) in Leominster.
- Sunday will start at 1pm at Starbucks (same one). How long it lasts will depend on if people come. I will stay until I finish my novel, but if I am still alone when that happens I will not stay much longer. If people show up then I will stay as long as they are there.

There will be scheduled breaks for food. There are a number of places to eat: Quiznos, Papa Johns, Wendys and BK are right there.

We will be running challenges to get you to 50K. There may be some prizes.
There will be winners!

If you are planning on coming to any of the Leominster Public Library Write-In on Sunday afternoons you may be wondering where to find us.

You can find us on the first floor of the library in the back meeting rooms across from the children's room. The door is open and there are a few signs posted.

No, I didn't accidentally delete my novel. But I signed up for the free Netflix trial for my family and discovered the "View Instantly" feature. I have over 40 movies in a queue that I can watch instantly on my computer. This morning during my prime writing time, I was watching Monty Python's Meaning of Life.

Leominster Weekend Write-Ins: 11/14 & 11/16

Hi All,
I am doing a poor job at keeping my numbers high. I hope I am the only one though.

Friday night (11/14) you can find me at Starbucks in Leominster for a Write-In. I will be there from about 6:30 until closing (9pm-ish). I will have challenges and a few prizes (yea, they are still a little girlie).

Sunday afternoon (11/16) Rebecca and I will be at the Leominster Public Library from 1 - 3:30pm. I will have more challenges and more girlie prizes.

Tuesday 11/11 Worcester City write-in

Hello all!

Because the past three/four write-ins at the Q and Espress Yourself have had no participants show, I will be moving tomorrow's location closer to home for me. I don't mind driving 20-30 minutes across town as long as people will be there, but if no one will then I'd rather drive only 5 ;-p

So tomorrow's venue will be the Barnes and Noble in Lincoln Plaza. I intend on setting up laptop in the Starbucks area, and will tape a flyer to my laptop. Don't forget that everytime you show up you are entered into a raffle for the end of the month (it's looking really good for the Morning Kick-off attendees!), plus we've been wanting to give away a book every week.

Please come out and help get each other going past the Slump of Second Week!

Worcester City WriMos I will be at Espress Yourself on Pleasant Street in Worcester this Sunday, 11/9, from 2 - 4. It's small, quiet, and has wifi. I'm checking it out as another possible location as I have never been there before. Anyone who wants to join me is welcome whether you want to vent about your struggles, need to cry a little bit, or require some help breaking through some blockage.
LadyBrie and I have also been talking about write-ins for Tuesday (11/11) and/or Thursday (11/13) this week. Any feedback feel free to post here or shoot us a message. Let us know what you think, prefer, etc.

So I was planning on an evening thing, but that's not at all possible, seeing as I already have two other places to be simultaneously. So, afternoon anyone? The specific time is still a little loose at this point, but I was thinking probably 2-4.

I can easily get to Starbucks, and I'm going to bring a powerstrip for anyone who needs it. The Leominster Public Library is also an option. If anyone has a preference, please let me know (quickly, we will need to reserve a room in the library).

Anything else? Um, I don't think so.

Kickoff for Worcester city

It's official...the Worcester Kickoff Party will be held in the Banx Room of the Main Worcester Public Library from 9-noon on Saturday, Nov. 1st. Breakfast style refreshments will be provided (though any left over Halloween candy is most certainly welcome), and we are ready with all sorts of games, challenges, and other little tricks to get November started the "write" way (I know, shoot me now).

We're still in the process of arranging our weekly write-ins, but the current plans are to have an official write-in on Tuesdays and an un-official common drop-in ground for Thursdays.

There are many ideas floating around in our heads to help you all, so please come out! We have some pretty sweet raffles in mind for the Thank Goodness it's Over party which you cannot get into unless you show up during the month ;-)

NaNo Site Troubles

I was just wondering if anyone else is having serious NaNo site problems... I have been trying to get onto this site for days now. I suspect the only reason I'm getting into the boards now is due to the election. Even at this time last night I was having major difficulties.

Anyway, I hope everyone else is doing well with their novels. I'm trying to stay ahead in my word count and I'm hoping to keep "The Wall" at bay. :)

Nov 1: Panera Bread. A Diary

I am at Panera in Leominster waiting for somebody, anybody to show up. It is 9:34 now and I have taken over two tables in the front cubbyhole of tables. When you come in, go to your right. I will be here with prizes and games and goodies until noon-ish. If nobody shows up by 11am I am packing it up and heading out.
FYI- the internet is slow here today.
