Dude, I've been on fire tonight! 36k, man, and I don't even like my plot. LMAO. This is the first time I've ventured out of vampire fiction...and it's been very very scary. At the rate I'm going and as much apple juice and tea I've been going through, I think I might be up all night writing!

My friend is a librarian in western Kentucky and put me onto NaNoWriMo last week. Starting on the 12th of November from scratch do you guys think I can hit 50,000 words by the 30th? Am I being unrealistic? I have written over 14K words in four days of real effort but I don't know if I can keep up this pace.

nearing the end and i finally like my story

as i am nearing the promised land of my first completed nano ever ( after 10 years of trying) I have realized that letting go of trying to write this epic expansive story and focusing on the story my charcters tell the things that would realistically be important to them in their universe well i really like my story now. its still got a long way to go and wont be anywhere near finished at 50 k but its really starting to come into its own. I just wondered if anyone else is feeling this sort of catapillar finally becoming a butterfly vibe ive got going about my story

I have officially passed the 45000 word mark and feel quite accomplished for making it so far my first year participating in NaNoWriMo! Yay me! It feels like some of the pressure has lifted knowing I am so close. How did you feel when you reached this point? pacing issues im in serious danger of going crazy and deleting 35k

I had faith in my story when i first started this. yeah ok its a vampire story but its my vampire story and damnit its a decent one the problem is that being the short story writer that i am im used to a very quick pacing the whole story is done in ten or so pages so things really cant take that long. it being nano and all ive kinda been letting my story go where it wants figuring that id eventually get everything in problem is im at 35 k (very nearly anyway) and im like finally getting to the meat of the story that screams at me that the pacing is off and im having trouble getting past that. i know i can edit later but still knowing things wont be fun to read is making it hard to be fun to write
. the other thing is i dont think ill be reading any of the fourms other than our region forum anymore cause well theres a lot of vamp story backlash over twlight im not saying twilight wasnt a series worth reading and such its just well people seem to think vampire stories arent worth reading or writing anymore. i normally dont give a flying monkey what people think but i dunno my story isnt making me happy anymore and i feel very close to sending all my charcters on an impromptu wordy 15 k road trip to a suicide compound. i swear guys im really starting to hate these folks. any advice folks??

Back from the mountain

As many of you know, on Monday morning I traveled with 44 ten year olds, three teachers and seven parents to Pine Mountain Settlement School. While this has little to do with NanoWrimo beyond the mountain climbing analogy, I wanted to share with you all some of the things that I learned during my 48 hours of "something different".

1) Pine Mountain actually has no Pine Trees on it. (The settlers thought they were pines but they are, in fact, hemlock trees).
2) Despite my previous beliefs, my kids are not as messed up as I thought (By a long shot).
3) You can get stung by a dead bee (just ask my kid, he found out the hard way).
4) Night hikes are not my thing (I have the bruises to prove it).
5) The Milky Way is more glorious than I remembered (This was my boys' first time seeing it).
6) Carrying a 1st aid kit was an excellent idea (one of the kids tripped on a doormat and put her face through a glass window. She came out of it with a tiny cut on her eyebrow, which closed on it's own, two or three nicks on her hands and a bump on her forehead. It was a miracle.)
7) I don't freak out, freeze or puke at the sight of an injury. In fact, I pretty much rock the house. (As I pulled her bloody hand from her face, I just prayed there wouldn't be glass in her eyes.)
8) I can climb a mountain (4 miles round trip), follow kids with a compass around for an hour (about a mile and a half), fix up an injured kid, and dance the heck out of an hour's worth of folk dancing in one day (I'd go on to bed, except I can't get out of this chair (*whimper*)).
9) When asked about his trip to Pine Mountain, one of the boys in my group answered, "Well, it was something different."

Now I will drag myself from my chair, and go to bed thankful that I'm back in Nanoland.

i got this underground vampire chop shop. they wouldnt jsut want anyone as a customer they have a door man and when my MC knocks on the door the door man asks him to ????? i can barely breathe here and well its fing with my creativeity its driving me crazy. Two of my characters went missing today. Carrie and Amy Lynn knocked on their door and they just weren't there, and don't seem to have come back. Perhaps someone at the write-in accidentally took them home. Please, friends, look through your novels and see if you've got an extra two characters that you didn't write, and send them home to me.

Otherwise I'll have to suspect that headless motorcyclist....
