Hey everyone! I just wanted to say hello and thought maybe we could support each other here with prayer and praise to God. I'm Kelly, last year was my first Nanowrimo. I finished my Christian fiction novel Food for Jackals and self published it. It sold well locally. I'm super excited for this year!

So come in, introduce yourself and God bless you!

Though my NaNo project will not be Christian, I am definately a Christain author. I am currently working on a spiritual warfare thriller. I am on what I hope will be my final draft before I propose it for publishing, and I REALLY hope I can finish it before NaNo begins so it can be processing during Nov.

But that being said, though my NaNo novel will not be Christian, being a Christian author, it will show itself through my work.

Kudos to you kellyjene! How awesome that your novel did well locally. Do you plan to expand your marketing? Please share some details.

And now for an introduction. I'm a Christian as well. Until yesterday I had planned to write a dark novel that explored the dark recesses of a mentally ill person's life. I thoroughly researched for an entire year. Then, yesterday while sitting in bible study, a spunky young lady (imaginary) sidled up next to me and demanded that I should care one iota why she discarded her diamond engagement ring into the offering plate of a church she has never stepped foot in before. She seems to believe that others need to know her story and where her "Freewill Offering" will lead her. At this point, I can only assume that her story will be a religious journey. Especially since bible study was about stewardship. I think my sassy new mc was a wake up call from God to use my talents on a new level.

Do you mind if I buddy you?

Hi! Good to know there are Christian Wrimos! :) I'm Tina, 22, from the Philippines. I'm currently dabbling on Christian chicklit (gotta love those Christian chicklit authors :D), and I am really hoping to write the first Filipino one. The chicklit that we have here is kind of disappointing. I wrote my first one last 2006, but I haven't finished it until now. I'll get around to it. Hee. :D

Thanks Dragonchilde! and Irish one...

FencerforJesus, my last novel was spiritual warfare. I enjoyed writing it!

Lexicon, I added you! Sounds like a great couple of novels you have there. I self published and sold via my blog and my church. I got a good response. Everyone liked it and I learned some things that I will put in place for this year.

Tina, that's a great idea. If you can get in the market where there is a lack, you're sure to do well! My church has a ministry center in the Philippines. It's a beautiful area!

Hi there! I'm a Christian too, though I don't that I'd call myself a specifically "Christian" author. That said I think does affect my writing somewhat, in that I at least try to keep things fairly tasteful.

Great to see you all here though! :-D . It's good and heartening to see so many other Christians here on the NaNoWriMo forums!

Hey everybody! My novel this year is not going to be Christian themed, though I am currently working on a fictional retelling of the book of Esther, in my spare time. Of which I have not much. I am still young (almost 14), and only on my second year of NaNo, so I don't think that I will get this novel published, but I can always hope! I think that my style of writing is Christian, in ideals, if nothing else, since I write fantasy. Examples being my characters are not immoral (unless the occasional mentally ill character, or imbalanced villan is considered immoral...), and I occasionally have allegorical themes to my stories. Anyway, I was delighted to find that I have some fellow WriMos who are Christians! I am definetly bookmarking this thread.

Hi. I'm a Christian writer. I submit 'sweet' (no profanity, no sex) short, short stories for publication in "Woman's World" magazine (one day, hopefully soon, they'll buy one!). I write NaNo novels with a Christian theme. I'm looking forward to my fifth NaNo!

Welcome to the group Aelyn, Lady N and Writeagain.

I think, as Christians, we aren't stuck writing only in the Christian genre. I would hope that we could write things that would affect and entertain the whole world! My first novel was definitely Christian fiction, but this year I'm hoping to aim more at just basic fiction, with spiritual tones to it.

Aelyn, I gotta say I'm impressed! One so young, joining Nano. That's wonderful. I would have done it at your age too, except most people only had typewriters, not computers then. : )

Take care! And if anyone wants to add me as a buddy, feel free. I'm available for chatting, prayer requests, and encouraging!

Hi ya'll,

i am not sure what i will be writing yet, ideas range from a book of poems to book of prayers to warfare and some other ideas which might never see the light of day.

I have not written anything since last years nanowrmo.

God bless you and i will be praying for you all.

Hello all! I'm 22 years old from Australia, a recent newbie to the Revival Fellowship and I adore my church and everyone in it. It's so nice to find a thread of like-minded people!

My NaNo probably won't be a Christian novel, but like FencerforJesus it will show itself through my work also. I want to write something that's NICE and uplifting to read, rather than all the sad and meaningless violence filled works which are currently out there.

This is my fifth NaNo, my fourth as a Municipal Liaison, so if any of you have any questions as to how this all works please don't hesitate to ask, I love helping :)

Whooho! I'm Christian! :D

My Nanovel this year isn't going to be Christian-themed much, but it's also not going to be un-christian...if you know what I mean XD I'm currently working on another, larger, novel that is definitely very christian-centered. But writing that one is a slow process. For Nano this year, I hope to have a bit of a laugh and to write something not quite as heavy-themed.
Before I forget to introduce myself: my name's Marieke, 21, Dutch. I'm currently in my fifth year of Nano, and I'm really really excited! Yay :D

Hi everyone! How cool, so many Christian Wrimos! :) I hope we all get to 50k this year. I'd also love to get to read some of your excerpts. :D

BTW, who reads Christian fiction here too? Frank Peretti, Ted Dekker, Francine Rivers and others? :)

Hello!

It's good to see so many other Christians are also writing.
My project this year is going to be my first overtly Christian story, and I am very optimistic. It's based on a stage play I recently wrote - backwards, isn't it? - which drove me NUTS because there was just so much I couldn't say in forty-five minutes of dialog. I will probably have lots of theoretical questions, but at the moment I'm still too flustered by actually having a plot and time frame and characters all in a row to articulate them.
Oh, and I love reading Christian fiction. I introduced my brother to Frank Peretti and he hooked me on Ted Dekker. Their collaboration was squeal-worthy (and I am not one to squeal often). I don't think I could write suspense/allegory/whatever, but I'm glad somebody can keep track of all their loose ends and tie them up neatly.

Hi everyone! I'm a Christian, and this is my 4th year doing Nanowrimo. I'm 18, and I write science fiction and fantasy mainly, not necessarily Christian, but I do have several ideas for allegorical or Christian stories, I just haven't gotten to them yet. :)

I like to read Christian fantasy such as Chronicles of Narnia, Dragons in our Midst, the Door Within, and especially Binding of the Blade! I have also read some of Frank Peretti's books, mostly the ones for teens (Hangman's Curse, Cooper Kids, etc.) but I also read This Present Darkness and its sequel. I am amazed by his books. The authors of all these books are my role models.

I want to be a children's/young adult author when I grow up, to the glory of God.

It's good to meet all of you, and God Bless!
~Evergreena

P.S. Any of you familiar with John Piper? Just thought I'd ask.

So true!

Like quite a few of you, my nanovel would not necessarily fall into the "Christian" genre. It is a coming-of-age tale (my first attempt at such) that happens to be the prequel to the novel I wrote for NaNo 2006 and 2007, called Healer's Quest. (I had to break it into a two parter, and it still is not quite finished. I got stumped near the end, but I am working on fixing that.)

Anyway, it is about a noble boy disowned by his father, pursuing his dream to become a physician, and ending up a knight, sworn to protect a certain person's life no matter what... This nanovel will end with the dramatic "event" that opens Healer's Quest. It will touch on some deep issues, such as the struggle of someone who wanted to dedicate their life to saving others but ends up taking lives instead... for king and country.

Hi, I'm JannyLynn and I have no idea (as of today) what I'm going to write. I have so many ideas floating around in my head and on paper, I don't know which way to turn. Some are purely Christian, some Christian themed (like Narnia), and others--while not Christian based--will have God showing up in there somewhere...seems these days I can't write anything without God showing up and saying "No, you really don't want to go that way...go this way, it's much better." And of course, it always is.

Good luck, everyone, and see you around the boards!

I was praying the other day, and a thought popped up in my head that I'm sure is not new to most of you: We, as Christians, can influence the world, even if we don't write exclusively Christian works. How many nonchristians actually read alot of Christian literature? Not too many. So if we write books that they might read, we are being just as much (if not more) of a light than we would be if we wrote only Christian stories.

@kellyjean - Thanks! I actually sorta cheated by starting NaNo on this site when I was twelve, but I made it, didn't I? The younger site didn't appeal to me, and, as a lone writer, without a class of any sort, I would be totally alone. (I can't find my other account, for some reason. I think the name was Darkira or something.) I knew that if I didn't have someone encouraging me, (other than my family and friends) I wouldn't make it all the way.

This is true! That is exactly how I want to write - not christian stories for christian people. I want to write stories for all the people and ahow them God. So you wouldn't find me writing about some priest coming to the rescue :D
Right now I'm writing a (Dutch) story set in a rather grim, post-apocalyptic word and three people struggling to find reason for living, and atonement. I'm not going to point and say: look, this is Christianity. But I will have the characters come to ponder Christs grace. So far, christians as well as non-christian readers seem to like it :)

I agree. :) There's always a way to write about Christ without being overly preachy. :)

And, of course, I will to stop writing on it come November, because this Nano I'm going to write something silly and brainless :D

Greetings! Is anybody writing a character who is not of the Christian faith? My MMC is a Dutch Jew during WWII. He's been in hiding for the duration of the war and his entire family was taken very early on, so he doesn't know a great deal about his religion and its practices. So, I guess he and I will discover it together (I'm Baptist). I just wondered if anybody had any tips for me. Hope to see you around!
