Hey, Greeley! I am here to gather your input! In the last week of October we will have a Kick-Off Party for NaNoWriMo! The KO Party will basically be a super awesome get-together where we'll get the chance to meet each other and get free things! I'll have, at the very least, free NaNo stickers and PLOT NINJAS! We'll get to talk about our novels, meet each other, discuss NaNo tips, and even play games! It will be rad.

So my question for you is:

1) Do you have a specific day or time you would prefer to have the KO Party?
2) Do you have a specific location that you would like to have the KO Party at?

This year October 31st is conveniently on a Friday, so I'm planning on going to the midnight KO Party for Fort Collins - they always have awesome events and I am willing to drive some people there if you want to go with me. So we could even have our KO Party on Friday evening before theirs starts if we so desire, or some other day.

~*~*~* Weekly Write-Ins ~*~*~*

Every week we would have a write-in on Sunday at 3 pm at Margie's Java Joint, which is located right by Frasier of the UNC campus. We'd just get together and work on our novels - and the sessions were really productive. People are always willing to help you with your plot and sometimes it's nice to get away from the house and write without distractions. I noticed that the majority of people who attended write-ins finished their novels - excellent!

We also had weekly socials on Friday evenings at a fellow WriMo's house. Those were mostly unproductive, but definitely fun.

My questions for you:

1) Is Sunday at 3 pm a good time to meet again? Or would you prefer a different day, time, or both?
2) Do you like Margie's as a meeting place?
3) Is one write-in and one social a week enough or would you like more on a different day of the week?

All input is greatly appreciated.

Also, November 12th to the 16th I'll be with Robin (Spleen, former ML of FoCo) in California - we're going to the Night of Writing Dangerously, so unfortunately I will not personally be there to host any write-ins. However, I do know people who would probably be up for hosting write-ins during that time, or we could always host an online write-in as well. Whatever works best for you.

Thanks again, Greeley. You rock!

sadly, I have no suggestions for either, but I will say I am up for anywhere, any time. well, I might prefer some time to give candy away to the youth of my neighborhood on Halloween, but I essentially have no other plans for that night or any other that week. (man, what an awesome life I have.) and I will consider infiltrating the Ft Collins party with you, although at this point I am really eager to start writing, so I might want to stay home and start at midnight. (assuming there is no writing at this kick-off party - is there?)

1) Is Sunday at 3 pm a good time to meet again? Or would you prefer a different day, time, or both?
I would love Sunday at 3pm.

2) Do you like Margie's as a meeting place?
that works for me.

3) Is one write-in and one social a week enough or would you like more on a different day of the week?
I think one social per week is good. however, I would not be averse to another write-in on Saturdays, mostly because it would keep me from wasting a weekend day watching ridiculous tv. :)

Candy is good. I'm thinking another day is probably good for the KO Party - the weekend before NaNo starts, perhaps? Unless anyone is really super set on kicking off on Friday. If you are, though, I totally have four spots in my car that people can occupy for the trip to FoCo. They have really fun parties and a great group.

The FoCo Party will indeed include writing. The first X amount of hours will be full of fun and people and whatnot, but, as I believe it, at exactly midnight, everyone will start writing. I plan to, anyway, and I'm sure that's the plan. As they don't have the thread up in their forum yet I can only speculate. But keep in mind that if you want to come with me, I'll probably be leaving FoCo no earlier than 1 am, probably no later than 2 am, so it will be a late night. But at least it's on a Friday night!

Skepanie - thanks very much for your input! I definitely would not be opposed to a write-in on Saturdays and my goal is to go to at least one FoCo write-in a week (they have write-ins practically EVERY day) so I'm always up for giving people rides to those as well.

I have a problem with watching ridiculous tv as well. Yesterday I blew through the Terminator series episodes of season 2. TV hurts my brain. NaNo will kill my tv-watching habits.

Sundays would not be such a good day for me; between one to four-thirty, I take a break and game for a while. [However, I may be able to get this changed to a later time. Will have to see...]. Would work fine for Saturday though!

Margie's, however, would work brilliantly for me; just a nice walk through campus, and I can be there -- provided that I could actually *find* the place once I walk over, that is! So there are some perks of being a UNC student, it would seem! I will leave the veterans (or more so than I, anyway) to decide if one is enough... although, perhaps we could just start with one, and if breakdowns occur, plan for more?

I would love to go to the FoCo party/write-in though, and getting a ride there would be even more brilliant.

As for TV... while I'm not much of a hog about it, if Torchwood keeps getting uploaded, I'm screwed. I'm rather far behind on that series, and would sit down and watch them straight for a week to catch up if I can! ('Tis what I did with Doctor Who. All four seasons, anyone?) However, having said that, the roommates watch a lot of TV, which is highly distracting, and I find myself turning away from my laptop to vaguely watch with them! Save me!

Cool, let me know if things for Sunday work out, we can always do a different time. In the past I've gone to FoCo on Saturdays for their write-ins, which vary depending on time, so we could always schedule around theirs - they have a good group of people and I like to go to their write-ins. However, since they have so many, I can always go to non-Saturday ones for them. I would like to have a write-in time that works best for everyone here - you guys are my #1 priority! And thanks for the input, it's very helpful.

Margies is really easy to find - it's just across the street from Frasier and on the corner of 16th street and 10th ave. It's in the same building as the campus bookstore, too!

And I am always up for adding impromptu write-ins if anyone wants them. Heck, I could do a write-in practically every night, and you guys are always welcome to schedule your own if I can't be there for whatever reason and you really want to write.

Ooooh Torchwood. Good choice of watching material. I finished Season Two a bit ago, after watching Doctor Who (the newer seasons, haven't seen the older version yet ). My doctor-character is currently unnamed and I am so tempted to keep calling him The Doctor all the way through November.

Mwahahah - I see your dark plans to infiltrate our kick off party. You and the other Greeleyites who come will be known for what you are - spies!!!!! Spies from the stink that is Greeley.

(Skyla will have details when we have them, and yes, writing will commence at midnight. Costumes are encouraged.)

in that case, count me in!! I am getting more and more excited about starting my novel, and I am daring to hope that I will exceed 50,000 words, thanks to my careful and detailed plan. who's to know though, since I have no real measure of my capabilities in this area. anyhow, a write-in at midnight sounds like just what I need. (and the late night shouldn't be a problem for me.)

Most excellent! It should be lots of fun - I've always wanted to go to their midnight KO Party, but have never been able to because of school the next day. Woo!

Alright, so for OUR KO Party - As long as no one has any objections on the matter, Saturday the 25th at Margies at 4 pm? And for write-ins, Saturdays at 3 or 4 until 5 or 6? We can also stick some on Sunday as well as or instead of on Saturday.

Waaahhh Saturdays do not work for me, but Sundays do. So please post when you are going to have the Sunday write-ins. It seems thought that I have talked my brother into doing Nano this year so I am going to their write-ins in Denver this year. (they are on Saturday)

Anyway if anyone else is interested in having a write in during the week, just let me know and I am sure that I will be able to meet somewhere and write!

Saturdays I sometimes go to Fort Collins to write - so perhaps I'll offer my car up as a ride to FoCo and/or set up eveningish write-ins for Greeley on Saturday. Sunday we'll still have write-ins, so no worries, Michone!

So the current plan is looking like this: (And, please, if you have any days you want to write, let me know!)

Friday - socials in the evenings
Saturday - write-ins in the eveningish time or late afternoon
Sundays - at three pm.

And we can definitely, definitely set up weekday write-ins as well! Does anyone have anywhere they like to meet besides Margies for a little variety? Delicious restaurants that wouldn't mind us staying for a few hours? Free places that wouldn't require us to buy things? A cozy corner in a computer store? We can make it happen! (Besides, I always think weird places to write are fun. Normal places are awesome, too, so if you think it'd be fun to write somewhere, let me know!)

Torchwood and Doctor Who are fantastic!! You're lucky there's only the two series of Torchwood, though. It'll be easier to get through them than trying to do all 4 of Doctor Who. I'm trying to finish off Angel right now, so I completely know what you're dealing with.

You should look for the radio episode of TW, too. It's really fun to listen to!
