An editor from a major (unnamed) publishing house in NY, blogging under the pseudonym Moonrat, is holding a raffle where you can win editorial services.
Prizes are:
-One winner: A full manuscript evaluation (up to 120,000 words)*
-One winner: A partial manuscript evaluation (up to 50 pages)*
-One winner: A query letter and revised query letter critique*
-One winner: A children's picture book manuscript evaluation (provided by Tracy Marchini of the Curtis Brown Agency)*
-One winner: A first chapter MG/YA novel critique (also provided by Tracy Marchini)*
-Five winners: A choice from select titles in Moonrat's library
*Please note: these are critiques with an eye toward editorial suggestions, and will in no way be considered submissions to Moonrat/ Tracy or their companies. I was informed, however, that a full manuscript evaluation can easily cost $300/£170!
The raffle runs until 7 October. Prizes have no expiration date and are transferable, so you can gift it to a friend if you like.
Proceeds from the raffle will be used to pay for the treatment of an uninsured cancer patient.
More information can be found on Moonrat's blog (http://editorialass.blogspot.com/), Tracy Marchini's blog (http://www.tracymarchini.com/) and the site for the raffle (http://mischieffightscancer.blogspot.com/).
Thanks and good luck in November, everyone!

Hello! We've just released the free version of our online novel writing tool, and would like to invite all nanowrimo participants to give it a try. Our tool, called writefree, helps you organize your chapters, keep notes on ideas and plot points, and share your work with others via RSS feeds, links, and downloads. It autosaves your work, and keeps track of your word count for you as well, so you guys may find it useful.
I built it because I've had so much trouble trying to finish a novel myself, and I wanted a central online place to access my novel and write (so I could write at lunch during work, in the coffee shop, at the library, etc.) We've decided to make it available for all to use, as our first released tool.
Head to http://www.allthingshappy.com - it'll take you less than 30 seconds to sign up and its free.
Have fun this November! We hope to you see you on our site and forums!
Thanks,
Tony Alicea

Perfect Imagination is a unique, searchable directory of beta readers for a growing range of fanfiction and original work. Whether you are looking to help others improve their work or you need help with your NaNoWriMo project, Perfect Imagination can help. The site is always open to new beta readers and writers, and our services are free of charge.
Beta Readers are asked to take a short test to demonstrate their expertise. When a passing mark is achieved, a beta can choose their preferred fandoms and create an individual profile for each. Information such as the genre and length of fanfiction, as well as the preferred relationships and the beta reader’s strengths can be listed and are factored into the search process.
Writers can search our database of beta readers by fandom, story length, genre, relationships and beta strengths to find the perfect match for their work, whether it is original or fan based. If the fandom they are writing for is not currently listed then writers can recommend it for addition and, in the mean time, contact a general beta reader who is willing and able to look over any form of fictional piece and provide a technical critique.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
