This is my first year doing NaNo, and I'm insanely excited! Can't wait to see what November will bring. Good luck to you, too!

Seems like the time is about upon us to sharpen our wits and loose some sleep! Heck, I'm not even sure of what I'm writing yet.

Welcome to all. I am a new NaNo, too. What excites me even more than the upcoming November rush is that I have finally located some other local writers.

Now, THAT is exciting!

Maybe we can get together and talk about how the writing is going, from time to time. What do you think? And please... someplace where we can relax. A pub, the Riverwalk, someplace where a mind can stretch out. Even an Applebees is not out of the question. No Borders, Coffee bars, or places where closed minds sit around and talk about how intellectual they are will do. I need to have a place where the imagination can roam free.

I won last year, this will be my second, I'm hoping my insanity will last out again this time.
November is the perfect month for novel-writing, though...what else is there to do?

I'll be working on children's novels this year, and probably overchronicling as "anachred" on LJ.

A nice imaginative place to meet and talk abotu what works (or not) in the stories is a great idea. This is the first year I have a full time job - scary for the writing process but exciting that I don't work nights...

When is a good time for everybody?

This is year five for me. My Wednesdays are spoken for, but most other nights are flexible.

Hi everyone!

This is my first NaNoWriMo and I can't wait to get started. I have outlined and plotted what I plan on writing. I am usually available most nights, as long as I have some advanced notice.

A little about me:
I am a SAHM to three little ones, ages 5, almost 4, and 2. My husband is a restaurant manager in Broken Arrow. I run a book review site in my spare (ha, ha) time. I have written a couple of short stories, and hope to finish my first novel this year!

Well... then the question of where and when to meet boils down to preferences. Beer? Coffee? Neither? Pizza, or sandwiches? And since I work odd hours... I'm off weekends at 6 pm, and have Tuesday and Wednesday as my normal days off... is a Saturday a good day? Or, in this case, a good evening? Like 6 pm.. ish?

And where are we all located? I'm central to everywhere in Tulsa (129th and 31st) and Broken Arrow.

Anyone have suggestions on where to hook up and chat? I know there's a place called the Blend on Main and 81st in BA, which is a cool kinda coffee shop, run by a neat young lady from... New York, I think. But heck, a Pizza Hut would be just as good for me. I'm not a very fancy sort of intellect.

I work overnights Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Since I'm off at 7am the following morning, I usually sleep most of the day Saturday. Weeknights before 8p , Saturdays after 6p or all day Sunday or Monday work for me. I live in Owasso, so I really don't have a preference.

While I have to agree with a previous poster about the attitudes of certain people at Borders, it's usually fairly quiet and relaxing, so the one at 81st & Yale is my favorite place to go and write for an hour. I'm up there every evening sometime between 6 and 9 (though the exact time depends on my mood). I'd be available to meet with people in the evenings or on weekends, and think it would be very useful to do so.

The 81st & Yale Borders is usually less crowded than the other big box bookstores (never, NEVER try to get a table on Scrabble night at the 41st & Yale Barnes & Noble).

However, when I worked there, the place was a study hall nightmare for Jenks and Holland Hall kids every night. Granted, I've been gone for almost 2 years now.

I still have some pull with the GM there, and could check to see if we could get a space reserved, if anyone is interested.

Since Borders switched to Seattle's Best brand, the coffee is MUCH improved.

Agreed. There are quite a few students studying there, but they usually stay pretty quiet. The really bad night is Chess night. I only know that it's on a Friday, I don't know how often.

Halloo, the group! This will be my third attempt, and possibly my first win. Here's hoping.
I work Sun - Thurs, 9 PM to 5 AM, so Saturday evenings are usually pretty good for me. I live on the north side of TU, and prefer not to have to drive across town, but I'm a terrible snob about things, so as long as the locations aren't in deepest darkest Broken Arrow I will try not to complain too much.

I am all kinds of excited about this year's attempt. I have a horrible track record for finishing anything, really, and I think that I will feel all kinds of grown up and evolved if I can knuckle down and do this.

Aside from that... a note about me: I am a pessimist and an optimist, I talk too much sometimes, and I'm a Leo, so I tend to see everything in terms of how it relates to me.

Hello, I guess I am one of the official ML this year. This is my second year in Nanowrimo and I just got the word that I'm assisting with the Tulsa area ML. I completed Nanowrimo two years ago.

I have a facility that we can use for writing, I have my own business in Broken Arrow and my shop has lots of room and great internet service. I am happy to provide some time for writing during daytime or evenings, the only exception being that Wednesday eve and Friday eve I volunteer.

That would be fantastic!! Although I do live in Stillwater, I typically work in Tulsa (I'm in-between spots right now). Hopefully I'll be able to find that career opportunity soon in Tulsa, so that I can finally move back AND feel much more comfortable participating this year.

But having a facility for the specific purpose... that's just icing on the cake!!

I am new to NaNo this year, and looking forward to connecting with fellow writers in the Tulsa area. I live in Broken Arrow and have been working on polishing up my first full length novel for the past couple of years, with bits and pieces of other projects simmering on the back burner.

Hullo, everyone! I started late last year and never really got the chance to connect with anyone. Unsurprisingly, my wordcount was depressingly low. This year is a fresh start, and a chance to really focus my efforts. Borders at 81st & Yale sounds fantastic, though I'm not much of a coffee drinker. I've been there only a few times, but I remember it as a nice, quiet environment.

Can't wait to get together with you guys. This is going to be a great year!

My only obligations are on Thursdays (4-10PM) for two OSU classes. Otherwise, I'm free! This is my second time with NaNoWriMo, though last year shouldn't even count as I was so caught up doing ANYTHING else. Looking forward to meeting up with you guys (though I may be a no-show Nov. 1st, what with planned holiday festivities the day before...mixed with candy...). My main goal will be to find the drive to write for fun (and volume!) while also having to turn in multiple term papers the same month. This will be interesting!

Maybe I should write something...ooh! Shiny things!

This is my first year and I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I'm not even sure I'm going to have time to write this because I'm still writing something else at the moment. And I'm still not sure what I'm going to write about... I'll figure it out in time... Surely... Anyway, it's cool to see how many writers there are around here.

Hi all!

I'm so excited because I finally moved to Tulsa this year (from Oologah) and I'll actually be able to participate in local meet-ups. This is my third year to attempt NaNo, and last year was my first and only win. This year, I'm unofficially participating to finally finish my four-year-old WIP. I'm sure it has more than 50,000 words left to go, and I'm hoping the positive NaNo energy will give me the focus I need to finally finish the darn thing. So I'm not eligible for a shiny winner's button, but a purple bar and a finished first draft are all the satisfaction I'll need this year.

I'm looking forward to meeting everybody next week. Good luck in November!

It depends on who you ask. There's a thing called the Zokutou Clause that says you can use an old project, but you still must write 50,000 new words on it. Look in the NaNo Rebels forum, or google it. I would do all the linking and such for you, but I'm lazy.

This is my first year to participate. I'm glad to know that I can talk to local writers, especially in week two....which I hear can be the breaking point. I'm doing this to prove to myself that I can finish a first draft. NaNoWriMo is just the kind of pressure I need to shut up my inner editor.

Glad to see such an active forum for Nanoers in the area. The alst couple of places I've been in have been woefully quiet. I've just recently moved back to Tulsa and more than ready to begin Nano. Sadly, work demands I be awake at the butt-crack of dawn to be there on time.

If anyone wants to meet, for the next couple of weeks, I'll be off work at 5PM. I can meet anywhere on the bus routes or, if there is someone who I know (there is that slim chance), we can arrange transportation. For now, I am without a vehicle or driver's liscence so times and distance are limited. :( Wed, and Thu next week and Tue, Wed, and Thu the week after I am off so I've got entire days to meet up for help bust writer's block or toss ideas into the air for those needing help. I know I'll be needing all the help I can get. Until I have my own apartment, a flashdrive will be my best friend with Nano. :)
