Does anyone know what the process of becoming an emancipated minor entails, and how long it might take? Thanks :)

From what I know the process tends to vary widely depending on state law. This site is a list by state with links to the relevant documents. I know next to nothing about how it may work in countries other than the US.

In most states, you have to prove you are self supporting.

What state? This tends to be specific to the state's family code, or whatever your state calls it. You can probably look this up online if you know where you're setting your story. The word "emancipation" might not be there, but the phrase "removal of the disabilities of minority" or something like that might be.

I've accumulated a lot of information on the topic given that I answer questions about it on another site.
In general:
Only about half the states even have a emancipation statute.
Those that do typically require you to be at least 16.
----------You have to show that you are capable both mentally and financially to support yourself and your needs.
Your parents or guardians have to be informed. It is easier if they agree, but if there are mitigating circumstances, a judge might over rule their wishes.
