I saw it too. That's awesome to hear.
They didn't do it last year, but Lulu did it the year before.
I got a copy of my aught six book, and I love it.

I'm sure it's true. Trouble is for me that by December I've lost all desire to write anymore. I'm not too interested in publishing this book anyway. I've still got 2 outstanding WIPs waiting to be finished.

BUT I'M HERE BECAUSE I'M ADDICTED TO NANOWRIMO.....W0000000000000!!!

But ... that would mean I'd have to EDIT it! I haven't even touched last year's piece. I should. I know what needs to be done to it. I just haven't gotten ambitious enough to actually do it.

I'll probably do it, without editing. I'd love to have a first draft in actual book form, in all its glory. Reading crap can be fun.

You would think that they would make a big announcement about it seeing as they have been trying to get this to work for at least a year (when I learned about NaNoWriMo).

I want to know how long we will have to finish and edit our novels.

Is this for real? Is there any way to tell what rights we have or so? Are rights involved? *puzzled*

Even if all of us wrote crap for the next month it would still be worth it. Instead of having this data file saying "we wrote 50,000 words of crap in one month..." we now can actually say "WE WROTE ONE BOOK FULL OF CRAP IN ONE MONTH!' Some how that sounds exciting to me.

It's basically self-published. You can, I believe, make the book available to the general public, but most people who do this sort of offer via NaNo just get their one free copy and are happy enough with that.

https://www.createspace.com/Products/BooksOnDemand.jsp

It's just a POD (Print On Demand) site, there are tons of them out there.

And it's not free; you do pay to have the book made but it's a nominal amount. POD sites tend to all be the same. Here's a few worthy ones that are decent to work with:

http://www.cafepress.com/
http://www.lulu.com/

But I'd stay away from iUniverse. I wrote to them for info once and no matter how many times I ask them to stop sending me info, they keep doing so.

HAHA it doesn't take much to be better than Eragon. I have no doubts that anyone here can write something better. LOL

I swear to the many and varied gods, if I hear one more fourteen year old extolling the (non-existant) virtues of Eragon then looking at me like I'm insane when I suggest they read Anne McCaffrey... I will not be responsible for the consequences!

I think this'll be the motivation for finishing this year. I want a published book, even if it's a load of junk. =) It was supposed to be my motivation last year (I was going to pay though, I don't think they had it for free last year), but life got in the way. =) This year though... I wanna book I wanna book!

A book is proof you can do it; whether it actually read-worthy or not, the point is you worked your fanny off for it. You got to the word count, that's the hard part in my mind.

I tend to write short stories because I can't seem to properly pace myself. If I can turn my 5K short into a 50K novel I'll be a happy happy little girl.

I'm going to put the title of my book on mine with a big subtitle that says: Editor's Edition or Rough Draft Edition or maybe Uncut and Uneditied. I guess I could also put NaNoWriMo Edition. We'll see what works best after I pick my title.

I plan to make notes in the book as I go if I find any terribly embarrassing mistakes. I hope it arrives by Christmas. I also hope we don't have to pay shipping, but that seems unlikely.

I agree with putting "Editor's Edition" or "NaNoWriMo" edition on the copy I get from this offer! Then I can edit it and see what it will look like as a "real book" in my hand.

Do I actually WANT a free copy of my novel? It's not looking very pretty so far. O_O
Will I have time to edit it before it gets "published"? If so, that'd be amazing!
