So I was wondering about everyone's muses... do you have one or more then one? What are their names? Do you absolutely hate them right now? LOL

My muse last year was a girl who stalked me on the internet. We'd been friends for a few years by then and had met in person ((And now she's my housemate))
I had a really amazing story last year, and everyone who read it liked it. This year I dont know. My husband is TRYING to support me, but he's not very good :D
I'm not sure if I have a muse this year. Well hopefully I will when I eventually think of a plot!

I have two kinds of muses. 1) Original Plotline Muse 2) Fanfiction Muse(s).
The first Muse's name is Silver (her real name is Ariana). And no...I can't hate her right now, because my NaNo is actually about her.
My fanfiction muses are all Korean. And are very stubborn. They like to argue with each other...and me. (I write fanfiction for Korean boybands.)

I have one muse. Had him for years. His name is Daemien and he's slightly sociopathic. I love him to bits.

My Muse doesn't have a name as yet (I know, SHOCKING!) or rather I just don't KNOW her name. But she's extremely sarcastic, backbiting, and likes to lure me in with a good plot bunny and then DUMP me, all alone, with no help.

I have a variety of muses who alternate between inspiring/bothering me. Right now, Chopin happens to be my main muse (in which all the other muses take orders from) and he definitely has my ear. ;)

I have..., one muse, which surprises me, because I thought my characters were my muses, but, apparently they're not. Okay, if anybody has read the Clique Series, then you know what Massie's like, well, that's basically my muse, and actually, her name is Massie, she's very helpful..., most of the time, the only time she's not is when I'm trying to write something, and she's out shopping. Oh wait, I have two muses, the other one's practically my alter ego, her name's Arynna (pronounced: ar-in-uh), and she has these gorgeous purple eyes, and long flaming red hair.

I have one muse. She's an egotistical brat who demands she be called Calliope. I'm settling for Cal -hey, at least she's not nameless anymore. Like any muse she can be incredibly awesome or she can be an incredible pain. For the revision of my 2006 Nano, I love her, but she refuses to cooperate with this year's.

My muse is a transvestite named Angel (who is not the same Angel from RENT). He has a freaky tree-branch wing and odd makeup, and he enjoys hiding in dark places and jumping out to scare the crap out of me.

I don't have a muse. Muses tend to be very annoying - they won't show up when they're needed and if they do show up, they do so at the most unconvenient moment possible - so after a couple of years, I fired mine and am very happy with it. How do I get proper ideas for my stories without my muse? Well, I just do it myself... :P Now I can't excuse myself from writing anymore by saying that my muse has left me - I fired her myself, so I'm the only one to blame when I'm stuck in a story.

I have had muses over time, although rarely real people in my life. Sometimes it's something easy like red wine or jelly beans and sometimes it's the voice of history in my head telling me what should happen. Last year, however, my muse was a teacher of mine who inspired me to reach for something I still don't understand.
This year, however, I have a feeling that I'm building on my own, personal muse. I shall name him Ansuz, after the rune I will wear as my totem to him this year. He will speak beautiful things to me and together we will create glory!

I have loads. A new one (or two) for every story, depending on the characters. Each of them has their own individual personality and they're all demanding brats who constantly want their own way.
It doesn't help that I give in to them every time.

lol it's so great to hear about everyone's muses/insperations! :)
I guess I could answer my own question now. I have two muses. My female muse has one of my nicknames, Cherry she pretty much helps me out with the love stuff in my stories, be it romantic or naughty. ;) She's got kool-aid red hair and big green eyes. I think she's a pinup girl. lol Then there's Pompeii, he's usually the one who helps me out with everything else. Yeah he's named after the city of Pompeii which I'm obsessed with. He has long blue hair and wears a red blindfold... hmm... he's weird. lol

When I started writing, I had several writers. Key, Akemi, Daimond, Rylyn and Arina. In Nano '05, I had a very minor character named Lane. Lane went from being a minor character to an extremely pivotal character in that novel. I went on to write an alternate version of that novel from his point of view, then a sequel from his point of view, then he fired all my muses and hired himself on in their place.
Lane is a complete narcissist with unbelievable good luck, a gryphon-shaped topiary that fetches him coffee, and an irrational loathing of reporters. I do adore him. He's toned down a bit over the last few years and has started taking his job seriously... but he still tries to insert himself into my novels. He succeeded last year and now has a miniature twin with superpowers running around. in my superhero universe.

My Muses tend to manifest themselves into my characters. There's not just One Muse who tells me everything, the characters will tell me what they want to do. Zach tells me, Atrus tells me (and is so damn STUBBORN! I hate him. I want to put him in the electric chair right now), Allu tells me....Em basically *is* me, so I wind myself into situations with what I know book Em would do. Allu's really quiet but she has made me cry before. I love Zach; I love when he's around and when he just sits and talks about nothing. Atrus....as I said, I want to have him electrocuted. He has crossed the line and two of my friends encouraged his plan and now he's not backing down. D=
----------So, yes, more than one Muse. Multiple Muses.

My general muse is a character I created with a friend about five years ago. She was originally a fanfiction character, but nothing we used her in ever worked out, and now she exist solely to give me writers block mid-chapter.
I currently also have a muse that can't talk, in the form of the evil race from my books, running around in the velociraptor esque shape they form when they're about to eat people.
Tea also inspires me greatly. It is very hard not to feel serene and content when you have tea.

My general muse is Called Envy {yes the character from FMA}. He normally does fanfiction, but I've coaxed him into helping me out with my original stuff as well {though normally the MC takes over that role sooner or later because Envy's a bit... sulky sometimes}. I also have RP muses {ie the characters I play}. Miya is being a good girl and being nice to the Nano characters and is great at getting some of the more timid ones to come out of their shells. Kari's being quiet and keeping the Editor busy since I haven't played her all that long {and the Editor is a bossy little creature that needs distracting during Nano month quite frankly}.
All things going well the muses will help me work out the plot stuff and get the characters to cooperate with me at the same time... I hope.

I have three muses: an inspiration muse, a mechanics muse, and a "Didn't I tell you that before?" overseer muse.
The third Muse is the Magic Mirror from my story Once Upon A Time. It's very sarcastic, but helpful. Except, of course, to me. It's always in all of my stories, even if it's not a character in some of them. It's like an omniscient force. Every once and a while I'll start to write something, get really into it and then...stuck. And dear Mirror tells me it's because I'm not doing it right. And then it gives me some valuable plot point that changes the whole focus of the story. I get mad and throw things, and it just says, "I thought I told you that before. Are you sure you just forgot?"
My second Muse is an invisible dragon, Gruffen McSparkly, that follows me around everywhere. With a wrench. He sits on whatever I'm holding and it gets really heavy. He is good about helping me out with simple problems relating to my story—not like an inner editor, that only deals in structure, mechanics, and correct grammar in the words. He also handles poetry.
The Inspiration Muse hasn't told me her name yet, but I call her The Faceless Lady. She's a giant ragdoll. She gives me the very hint of the big picture in every story, just the core essentials, and leaves me to flesh out the rest. Usually, it comes in a big bang when I'm in the shower or in a tight spot and have no paper...

I never thought I had a muse until this year.
Apparently her name is Daisy and she's a lolcat!
I was unaware of this until I was making notes on serial killers (as you do) and came to the hedonistic killer, who kills for pleasure, and wrote "kills for lulz" and that was when I found Daisy.

I somehow ended up with five muses, which I have affectionately nicknamed The Muses From Hell. They've all been characters in my stories at one point or another.
--Lily, the end all and be all, my main Muse. I love her to death.
--Ellandra, Lily's alter ego (although neither admits it) and a great Muse for fantasy. Unfortunately, she and Lily constantly get into pissing contests when they both want me to write something different at the same time.
--Leah, who rarely talks but whose ideas are gold when she does.
--Koji....still working on him. In the last story I wrote with him, I killed off his wife, so he's kinda unhappy with me at the moment.
--Aaron. He's...well, he's a serial killer. Enjoys toying with me. He took the place of Koli, who got all tetchy and ran off to sulk in Museville when I decided I wasn't going to work on one of her sequels for NaNo. She wasn't much help anyway, always screwing with Lily and putting her off her work; Aaron is weird but he pretty much leaves the other Muses alone, so things are more normal and quiet these days. Even if he is a self-centered murderer with too much time on his hands.
And, yes, I've been told I'm crazy many, many times.
Tandra

My muse is Siren. And she's a horrible horrible little creature. She has a tendancy to disappear when I need her the most, and when she comes back I end up in a terrible writing frenzy because of all the neat little things she accumlates for me while she's gone.

I don't really have a muse as much as I have a little deity who keeps me on track... I have a little statue of Ganesha on my desk. For those who don't know, Ganesha is a Hindu god who helps to remove obstacles from peoples' lives. Very fitting, huh? He's been my desk companion for a while now, and I just recently used his "power" to help me finish my undergraduate thesis. Like I said, he's not exactly a muse, but he is my form of motivation haha.

I do have a muse. I believe that it's a guy, but since I cannot picture him, I can't be certain. He doesn't have a name, either. I'm pretty sure that he's very bored, because he spends his time taking some of the random thoughts that float in my head and making them into full-length stories. He waits until the worst time to tell me about these, too, like when I'm in the middle of a test. Then, he won't stop whispering to me about the stupid thing until I eventually have to stop whatever I'm doing and elaborate on his ideas. My muse is rather harsh. He's not afraid to tell me when my story is a piece of crap, or when the excess amounts of romance are making him sick to his stomach. He gets impatient with me when I don't write quickly enough and taunts me by coming up with fantastic ideas for stuff I haven't gotten to yet. My muse drives me mad. But I love wouldn't trade him for anything.

So I don't have a traditional muse, but i do have Norman the Absurdity Monster.
----------He's a little turquoise wind-up plastic dinosaur sitting on my bookshelf, and whenever i'm not sure what to do, he tells me to throw in some absurdity.
Norman has a funny sense of humor...
But considering it fits my novel perfectly this year, Norman is going to become my best friend.
I know I have a plot muse too, and I think it might be my math teacher Mr. Hanes. He has no personality, but whenever I'm sitting there in his class, I get ideas. Which is why my math notes all have scribbles along the margins.
Maybe i'm just inspired by cosines.
when in doubt, write something anyway

Hi Bahnree,
I can totally sympathise. Mine is exactly the same.
She gives me plot point A and maybe a few ideas for a couple of other plot points (not necessarily completely thought through. Usually only half a point) and then decides she's done her job and clears off to help someone else leaving me with a story which is only half completed and of that half only half makes sense!
Either that or she'll sit on the edge of my subconcious and taunt me with loading other proper plots for other completely unrelated stories (usually fanfiction plots when I'm writing original fiction for NaNo - or vise-versa depending on what I'm doing for that years NaNo) into my imagination.

I think I managed to a have a complete non-muse. His name is Ralph. He doesn't do anything. He whines a lot when I scold him for not helping me. I think my actual muse, the one that actually helps me, hasn't quite revealed itself to me. But there's something in my chest, kinda near my spine that tells me when I found the right name for a character. She likes to come out during math class. So that's the main one...
My characters usually take over once I've gotten into their story. They generally make a mess of it. I can tell my FMC, Kara, is going to have a lot to say about what goes on. Dell, her best friend, probably will too, because Dell thinks she knows everything. Liam, the MMC, will be pretty quiet I think, but hopefully some of his ideas will be good. Newlyn, Liam's Samwise equivalent, might complain a bit when I'm taking the story in a direction he dislikes. Liam will shut him up if he annoys me too much, though.
I'm thinking I should bring in my main muse (man, I'm really getting a mysterious lady aura from her, and I need to find out her name) to shut them up and finagle some of their ideas into passable ones. Maybe Ralph will wake up and help out.
I get the sneaking feeling that they will all feature heavily in my dreams during November...

I have a muse! I'm not sure what his name is, but he likes to bug the heck out of me. Also, if my characters aren't behaving themselves, he likes to be bossy, and usally causes a large, bloody fight that causes much tears and angst.
And I'm getting yelled at right now for even writing such blaphsemy (sp?) when I *SHOULD* be working on plot outlines.

She's the most beautiful, wonderful, special, funny, smart, amazing, inspiring person ever.
Sometimes i hate her for being better than me in every single way, but most of them time I'm half in love with her.
My main character is in love with her too.
Of course.
