I'm so glad to see this up and running--and a little scared, too, if the truth be known! Gevera_Bert, thank you for setting us up here!

OK, here I am. Very sheepish and very much a newby again. I am either going to do a story and character based on a ten year journal keeping episode during graduate school (or) something off the top of my head... or perhaps both. Please be gentle with me...

Barring a last minute diversion, like issues with the non-fiction book waiting for release, I'm going to give it a try this year. Won't be great, fiction isn't my thing, but I'm liking the idea of taking a look at how a small town reacts when one of its own is plucked out onto the national political stage and the town becomes a media target, so to speak, and...and....and..... I don't know. I'm winging it, tho' I guess I'll have to thank Sarah Palin in the forward for being my inspiration. Ha

I saw your note on Askville about this but I thought you were being facetious. Cool that you're going forward with it. Put in some kind of twist and make it a mystery--some secret the town's been hiding and now it gets revealed...No, that's just me, Miss Dramatic. Have fun with it!

OK... five days out. Guess its time to do a little outlining if I am really going to do this thing. I have just given Askville notice as it would feel really good to get out of there for a month. I am beginning to doubt that it survives that long anyway. Well, good luck to all.
Since this is all new to me, any advice is helpful. Any.
Regards.

I am going to give this a try! I have never done anything like this before and I am highly intimidated, but I think that it will be a positive experience. Good to see familiar names here. I am aka swfpdx.

Up early. Started at 8:30 (I am typically a morning person). Have several hundred words done. Glad I finished "no plot, no problem" however. The suggestion to use an actual novel you like as a reference guide is an excellent suggestion. Right now, it seems I can write forever without running out of material but I have heard that the second week is tougher. Wish I could get around site better but guess that will come. Regards.

I am slogging along. I am getting a lot of words down and "No Plot" was right, my locations and characters are multiplying out of hand. I just hope that things start to make a real plot at some point. Anyway, this is a good thing to do -- I don't think I would ever start such an adventure without it being in this 'no fault' format.
The servers seem very overwhelmed and it is difficult to get your postings to go though. Maybe we should talk on Askville or Fluther? How about you guys.

Well, I am getting words on paper but I think I am writing at least two or possible three novels all smushed together. Perhaps there will come the resolution in the second week. This is a lot of fun but I am not getting much else done with my life. I sure need work on dialog. Blah blah... good luck to all.

I have lots of words, little scenes really, but not in any particular order. Since I decided to focus on the idea of how having one of its own being selected for a high national political office might impact the small hometown of that character, all loosely based on what's gone on here since Sarah Palin was tapped, I think I've spent more time just doing quick "scenes" in response to the barrage of daily events than building my back-story. I'm probably going to make the word total --- heaven only knows there has been lots of daily inspiration --- but whether it'll be in coherent book form is debatable. Still and all, it's something with promise down the road, assuming I don't get bored with it all and hide it in some deep, dark area of my external hard drive.

Maybe it'll come back. I've had several flit in and out, none sticking around long, tho', thus I have a lot of words that just sorta meander around in circles. I can't believe I've typed this many words and have nothing really to show for it. This is why I do non-fiction. I tend to know the beginning, middle and end. I still think my idea has merit, so will type on, but if I ever do anything with this, it's going to be a virtual rewrite from word, oh, twenty on. Ha

We seem to be having a common experience Tundra, I rearranged it into a chronological order this morning. I think that my problem really isn't no plot, it is that there are about three novels stuffed together and it would take an extraordinary stroke of inspiration to make all of them into one story. I am not going to worry about it, however. Just keep going and sort it out later. I bet all your words will find a home eventually just as I am hoping mine will. Regards.
