I didn't see a thread for this, so stop me if I'm creating a copy of one.

Anyone else writing alongside a furry (or scaly or feathery) friend this November?

I do most of my writing in the dining room or the office. In one room, I've got a snake staring at me, and in another, I've got a chinchilla.

Basset hound who believes that if I'm sitting at the computer, and I can easily slide my chair into the kitchen and get him food. Often.

There's my cat (technically named Sugar, but I call her Rina because I like it way better). I'm pretty sure she'll hop onto my computer desk at some point or other and try to "help" me with my story.

If I take my laptop into my bedroom, I have my gerbils Raiden and Zan. Usually they're asleep when I'd be writing, but sometimes they surprise me.

My cat's name is Nuala. She always has a knack of curling up to sleep on my computer chair just as I want to use it! Plus, she likes to follow the cursor around on the screen.

If I'm writing in the lounge then my Basset Hound will be up on the chair with me.... She might actually contribute to it as she loves sniffing the keys and watching my fingers and sometimes she'll put a paw onto my laptop...
Or my Labrador with be on the chair with me fast asleep....
And my GBGV might come lie down next to the chair...

If I'm writing in my bedroom then my GBBV might sleep on my bed next to me but the others aren't allowed on my bed (they have coats that moult and I try to keep my college stuff as dog hair free as possibly. His coat doesn't moult... )

If I actually work on a table, then they'll all be asleep around me in the conservatory...

A cat who thinks nothing of bringing in decapitaded mice, or leaving them at the door, which my dog then eats and gets sick. The dog himself likes to try and chew my laptop power cable and recently munched down on my USB card.

Yep. If I'm in the living room on my laptop I will be accompanied by our two german shepard/shar pei mix puppies Sammy and Sophie. Being in the living room with them may not last long though because Sophie has no respect for the laptop and her 45 lb self will try to climb over top of it to sit in my lap. If that behavior persists, I will be taking the laptop to my bedroom which is a puppy free zone.

For me it will be my grey tiger-striped kitten Sterling who will either be laying on the desk with the laptop or he will be wandering around my room crying like mad to try and get my attention. He's my handsome little crybaby. At some point he'll probably end up contributing to my novel as well since he tends to roll over on to my laptop if he's laying on the desk. Silly kitty.

I have to have two chairs by my desk for when my cat, Minx nicks mine, or sometimes she'll sit on my knee and be all lovely and helpful by letting me talk to her. She's a good listener :).

Honestly I'm surprised I can move when I write. This is what I get for being in a family who loves animals. On the computer chair there's normally my cat Tika where she likes to sleep around my head, in my lap is my mothers miniature schnauzer Tessa who's always trying to type something herself, becuase she wants attention. At my feet our golden retriever Amber, then to my immediate left is my buddy boy Loki, whose a doberman pincher. So animals are always crowded around me when I type, I can even go outside to escape them they always follow me. I normally don't complain though.

My cat, Tiger, will doubtless have to be dissuaded from attempts to hatch the mouse.

Never a dull moment on my end! I've got two cats and two dogs!! My cats like to take turns hanging out with my by occupying the kitty bed on my desk. Earl--my grey kitteh--likes to try and hang out on my keayboard because it's warm there. Dude --my white kitteh--is only hanging around if I have the tunes going (he's very musical!) And then taking up the floor space are my two adorable Basset Hounds Lowla and Belle who make sure that if I devote too much time to my laptop, I must make it up with some Beggin Strips!

My two dogs are my writing pals. They'll be faithfully by my side during the writing process (unless that chipmunk is on the porch, taunting them through the sliding glass door).

I have 7 NaNo pets, then.. XD 6 are technically mine.

4 guinea pigs who love to squeal and beg for food.. and hop around and play.. make that Luna, Nabooru, Minichen, & Nugget...

Then 3 cats, 1 who is technically my best friend's but he stays with his brother and "big brother" feline in my territory, whose names are Xigbar, Sheik, & Link...

Link LOVES to pester me for love and attention.

Sheik loves getting into trouble.

Xigbar loves running around like a maniac.. but for the most part, being the quiet and more appropriate manner cat.. also because he is well over a year older than the kittens. :D

I'll be writing with my two cats, Rynna and Margarita. Rynna will be the most likely one to pester me while I'm writing unless a peculiar mood strikes Margarita. Rynna has a tendency to drape herself all over the keyboard to get my attention when I'm not giving her enough scritches when she wants them.

I have four Basset Hounds that come in and out of my room at random times throughout the day. Only one of them usually stays in here though. The rest are just coming to see if I left any food lying around or the garbage can unattended.

One of my cats, Fenway, likes to come in here and sleep behind me in my chair, in my lap watching the screen(and attacking if he deems it necessary) , or sleeping behind my laptop. He has a bad habit of chewing on electrical cords, so I have to watch him closely.

I have a service dog who's never far from me, and his pet dog. Both of them like to sit in my lap while I'm typing.

There are also 2 cats, a rat, a hammie, and a ferret involved.

Two Dalmatians, Deccy and Diva, who insist on walks twice a day of at least a mile's duration, regardless of weather. After tomorrow, there may be a third...

I have four cats. A Turkish angora with smelly breath who will come in occasionally and rub against my feet, DEMANDING to be petted, a sable with one eye who will be sleeping on my bed for a lot of November (and all the way through April, most likely), a black long-haired who will be under my desk most of the time, and a fat black-and-white cowcat who probably won't be there often. Plus a border collie (soooooo cute!) who's not -really- suppose to come in my room, but will anyways.
So, I'll have company regardless.

I have a dog, two cats and about forty fish. My cats always have to be in the same room as I am. And sometimes, they both scramble for a place in my lap. My dog loves to sit at my feet. And my fish? they make faces at me to feed them.

Another good spot to look at those of us with 4 leggeds having more character than our character's character. I have two bossy pomeranians, three catz, and two finches. When I am not writing, I am opening the back door for Dani and Hercules (the poms). The catz do whatever they want to do. The birds are the noisiest. The boys sing at dawn and whenever the sun shines. This a great thread.

It'll depend where I am when I'm writing.

If I'm at my flat i only have my sister's goldfish so it's not too bad.

If it's a weekend when I'm up at my parents then I have two cats, Paris and Cleo to contend with. If it's a nice day they can be put outside quite happily. If it's not then I can virtually guarantee I will have one possibly on my lap (that depends if my dad is around at the time and is working on his own computer because if he is then he's the firm favourite and Paris will go an sit on his keyboard instead) and Cleo will be meowing constantly at my feet or somewhere around me until I give her all the attention she wants at the time and then will flop down next to me and pass out, until I move and then the process will start all over again. She seems to have real abandonment issues and demands constant attention until she can be sure I'm not going anywhere.

Yep. I take turns holding one of my four guinea pigs in my lap while I type, and my cat Susu likes to annoy me by walking all over my keyboard and rubbing herself on the monitor. My other cat is less annoying; she just sits on my feet--which is nice when they are freezing!

Awwww I love basset hounds so much! I have two bassets (and a dachshund) back at my mom's house in Texas and I miss them like crazy. As for me, I'm writing with the help and support of my little kitty boy, Ariel.

No actual animals of mine can stay in my room for one of my writing periods.
However, I have a selection of magnets that I like to shape into the form of a bird. I stare at it when I'm stuck, and I get ideas.
His name is Socrates, and he's as legitimate a pet as my dog or two cats.

My sweet little tortie kitty named Devi likes to sleep on me when I'm writing. During last year's NaNo, she slept across my arms so all I could do was type. No using the mouse to slack off and browse the internet. Our other cat, well, he's my husband's cat and my hubby wears the "I'm a lover not a writer" shirt for me during November... They think alike I think.
