Hey,
Just thought we could get a new thread going. This can be a place for you all to say a little about your novel this year or if you need help we can give plot suggestions here.
My book this year is continuing my story. In 2006 my nano book was book one, over the last 2 years I wrote book two, so now it is time for book three. I dont want to say much about this book, but I can give a bit of background from the previous books.
Book one, The Quiet Hour, was about an assassin who was killing city guards during the city's mid-night hour. It was found to be a man who was under magical possession and in the end lost all his memories and was thrown in a god made prison. Book two, Memories Found and a Soul Lost. Picks up 150 years later when the man is released from prison by an elf. They journey back to the man's home kingdom while he starts releasing his locked away memories. In book 2 his name is Ghost while in book one he goes by at least four different names. He is the wanderer the series is centered around. In book three, Making of a Bow, Ghost and the elf, Thamior are out to rebuild Thamior's bow. I do not wish to say more about book three until I get writing.
If anyone is willing to read book one or two (when it is fully typed) let me know. Both need some editing, spell check only does so much. :)
Josh

If you're not going to be at as many write-ins this year because of your new shift, I am going to be very disappointed not to hear about your novels. I always love hearing updates. My offer of last year to edit still stands when you've got them all typed up!
Unfortunately, I don't know yet what I am writing this year. The first two years I did original fiction; the last three years I did Trixie Belden fan fiction. The last two years I vowed to do original fiction, but I never had a good story idea, so I ditched that for the familiar.
I really, really want to do original fiction this year, so hopefully an idea will come to me!

The beautiful part of writing is that you don’t have to get it right the first time, unlike, say, a brain surgeon.--Robert Cormier

With just a couple of weeks to go, I am unsure what my plot will be. I have been strongly debating on writing a young adult novel regarding alzheimer's, something that will strike a cord of relatability for those teens who have had to watch a loved one go through it. I'm just not certain what kind of interest there would be for that.
Josh, your books sound very interesting. When you get them typed, I'd be happy to read through them for you.

Hi!
I'm not quite sure on my own novel either. I honestly don't remember what I did my first year because I came in with about a week and a half until the end. The second year I had this awesome novel about different tribes and one girl who was the only one with mixed blood. Mixed blood was ground for death, that's how serious they liked to be separated, lol. Then a race of demons came and took her and there's love and action mixed in. It's actually quite hard to summarize but I sometimes post chapters up on my deviantArt account and I'm still trying to work through it. Of course after that I'll have to find an editor, :P.
And then last year I ended up writing CSI Miami fanfiction, and that actually turned into a 5 story series that I still write for a community on livejournal.
This year I have ideas and I'm still trying to put them together into an outline of sorts, and I still need to come up with Character names. I don't want to get too invested into the characters just yet or else I'll be too busy listening to them instead of actually getting a word count. I don't want them yelling in my ear until December 1st, lol. But I'm thinking that my novel this year is going to be a mix of Erotic Fiction and Fantasy. Possibly something to do with Demi-Gods, Gods, mermaids, All powerful Lords that defeat Gods, and lots betrayal, and of course sex, lol. But I'm not really committed to this idea, so if something comes to me in a dream, as all of my good stories/novels do, I'll be tanking that idea and running with that dream. I've been trying to work on a Seven Deadly Sins series for a while, so possibly I might pull those ideas out of storage.

I've been tossing around the idea for a Medieval-esque novel about a married peasant woman becoming attracted to her enigmatic and moody, nobleman employer for several years now. Well, I've just decided that, not only is he enigmatic and moody, he's also a vampire. (As my working title says, "Twi—Not?")
Now, I'm thinking about interspacing that story with a modern-day one, involving the same vampire. (If nothing else, it will give me another avenue to get to 50,000 words.)
I do love NaNoWriMo. Where else would I ever get away with a plot like this?

I've been toying with the idea of a December/May (older woman/younger man) workplace romance -- not a "romance" genre novel but more of a drama or chicklit story. I'm not sure how it'll go, but it seems like it'd offer a lot of opportunity for conflict, awkward situations and sex ... some of my favorite writing fodder.
Hmm, I'll have to think of some ways to make the attraction as complicated as possible.
This might be fun.
