If your muse was a physical being with a visible form, what would it look like? Would it be a cute wide-eyed bunny with ravenous fangs to threaten you if you don't write it's plot down? Would your muse even be humanoid? Feel free to describe how you picture the force that drives you into writing and add as much detail as you would like. You can even write a back story for it too!

My muse is my muse because I actually saw her and was inspired, that in being said... I'm told I was hallucinating despite not being on anything that could cause that...
But she was this Japanese woman in robes, similar to traditional kimono, but slightly off, and she had these darkish eyes and hellish agony written on her face. There were rivlets of blood running down her cheeks... her hair was messy, black, and about shoulder length. She was wearing red robes, with gold embroidery on them, and with a blue collar/robe set beneath that also had orange designs on it.
Usually when talking to her I imagine her in chibi form, still with blood, but a cuter face ^^;

My Muse is a tall and whispy, with a face that isn't quite clear, almost fuzzy, like I'm looking at her through a light fog. She comes to me in my sleep and drops little story nuggets into my mind, like those dreams that you can only remember little fragments of when you wake up in the morning. Sometimes she'll come to me when I'm not paying attention to what I'm doing durring the day, Like I'll be having a conversation with someone, and I won't be entirly paying attention to what they're saying (I know, it's terrible, but some of my friends ramble) but it's usually because i've been given an idea by my muse that I cant help but start to play around with it in my mind.

My muse is actually in the form of two small people who live in the frontal lobe of my brain, just inside my skull. Their names are Jem and Lil. I've never actually thought about what they look like... I guess I'll get round to drawing them one day. As they live in my head I've never actually seen them. I always think of them like the angel and devil on my shoulders.
They threaten to cut through important things in there if I don't write when I have the time and keep them fueled with caffeine when it gets to a stupid hour of the night and I'm still up writing. I'm also convinced that they are in cahoots with several of my internal organs.

My muse is humanoid. He's got messy black hair and amber colored eyes. He's constantly smirking like he knows something I don't. And he's taller than me so he kinda looms whenever he's around. He also tends to run around with some kind of knife and/or bludgeoning weapon on his person. He tends to be a bit of a sarcastic bastard most of the time. When he wants something, he damn sight better get it or doom unto the person that denies him. This goes for plotting as well. I'm giving him full control this year and he's loving the freedom.

Mine's a sort of wild cat.
...It's scary how quickly I realized that. I've never even thought about this before, but I thought, "Muse?" and a picture of a jaguar comes up.
Anyways. It's kind of slinky, for lack of a better word. It comes and goes. It sleeps a lot. But, it comes out at night, and when it's on the hunt, it's ferocious, and it won't stop until it's done.

Think Tolkien style she-elf. You know, tall, graceful, beautiful beyond belief, always wearing those really cool dresses and gowns and stuff. She's almost always wearing a fine chain necklace, and maybe a charm bracelet/anklet. Add a tiara/fine chain hair net if she's feeling particularly glowy. She's on a green theme now - hair dyed green, green nail polish, green clothes, green gems, green. A pretty green, like grass and summer tree leaves and emeralds, not lime or any green like that. I'm never sure about her eyes - they change a lot - they might be green right now.
And then there's her secondary form - a kitty cat. She's orangish then, colored a lot like Garfield. But she's much skinnier, more graceful, and adorable. The fine chain necklace is still there, but no anklets or bracelets or tiaras. And her eyes are always green in cat shape.
Now add bipolar disorder and ADD, with a dash of ADHD. That's my muse.

Great thread; I love hearing about other people's muses. :D
Clarro's short/medium height, sort of curvy but with big innocent eyes (amber in colour), and dark brown, curly hair that's about shoulder length. She always wears her trademark yellow hooded jacket with the rainbow stripes on the cuffs, and she's usually wearing jeans and colourful shoes.
She likes to sit on the edge of my desk and swing her legs a lot and usually just comments on my general everyday activities. Also, she gives me great ideas when I'm least expecting her to, but unfortunately for me, she's usually up 'til very late at night. I love her to bits though and I can't ever stay mad at for her long. xD

Sadly, I haven't seen / made a trip to visit my muse in several years :( She lives really deep inside my dreamscape and doesn't come out to play, leaving the characters to shout at me about plot & so-on. Back then, she was kind of - do you know Selkies? A seal-woman; she lives in a pool in a cave in the forests behind my 'self'. She has blue-ish hair and is light-grey-fuzzy, like a seal. She might have changed completely since I last visited, I don't know. There's miles too much street noise where I currently live for me to go under deep enough, but now that I'm thinking of it, I wish I could go visit - maybe bring her up a little to help with nano!

I've also seen my muse as a cute little (short) girl with large brown eyes and short dark hair. She pretends to be very innocent and inquistive, but I know she is very devious and trickery. She plans the demise of all my stories. ^-^

I guess you could say that my muse is John Heisman: A constant secondary character in all my novels, he's a balding middle-aged guy with a beer belly, quick to smile but with sad eyes, and a speaking voice that can only be described as musical. He wears gym shorts and college football t-shirts, socks and sandals.
I have always had a soft spot for him. Whenever I have a couple main characters and an idea, and get stuck on the plot, I wonder, "How can I fit John into this?" He's an instant plot bunny, and sometimes (like this time), I end up building huge chunks of plot around him.

I never really thought about what my muse looked like until I read this thread.
She's definitely female. Quiet. Compelling. She's firmly but gently insisting that I tell this story. I'm trusting in her that the characters that keep me up at night will capture my readers' imaginations and somehow guide me into something others will want to read.
I think she's more of a spiritual presence than one whose physical form I can describe.

I have several muses, who all make me write in different ways.
One takes the form of my Plot Bunnies, this cute pair of rabbits that sit on my desk. They're my keep-trying quiet Muse.
One looks like my one-eyed black cat, Sara. She's my don't-worry-about-it,-you-can-do-it comforting Muse.
One is a traditional, Greek-style Muse, with the robe and everything. She's my hurry-up-and-write! impatient Muse.
One looks suspiciously like the main character in my past novel, Marlyn. She's the work-on-your-novel-or-else demanding Muse.
Between the four of them, I get writing done!

My muse is named Alec Lebowski.
He never wanted to be my muse, but one of my other characters bugged him enough, so now he is.
He lives in downtown NYC (around 11th, maybe nearer to Union Square) with his friends: Kael, Olivia, Nathaniel and Lani. He likes diet Coke and coffee from the French Roast on 11th.
He's grumpy most of the time, but when he's really mad, he can be found at South St. Seaport, staring into the river where his ex-girlfriend's ashes are.
He edits books for a living, writes on the side, and keeps a blog.
Then, there's Julia the Bohemian Undead Writer, but I, uh....won't talk about her. Bad things would probably happen.

My muse, Velvela, is a very quiet muse. She looks like a giant dark grey wolf with large wise gold eyes. She hardly speaks, but is always there to comfort me, and encourage my writing. When she does speak up its a very soothing sound, and wants me to change something. If I don't listen though she can get extremely... grumpy. So most of the time I try and listen to her.

I have very plain people for muses.
One's black haired, very pale, quite insistently quirky. He's a tad effeminate, but he's a sweetheart, really.
The other is a young woman with silver hair and grey-green eyes. She looks delicate, somewhat wispy... her voice is low, and she stutters.
And they remind me of the possibilities to come.

My muse is about 5'3", has light brown hair, eyes that are either blue or green depending on what color she's wearing. She loves cats, adores dark chocolate (disagrees with me about milk chocolate), and like me, can't say no to a good Cinderella-type story. She's both idealistic and practical, and way better at melding into the business world than I am. She's really lenient about me abandoning my work (though she really shouldn't be) because she "gets my crazy writing ways."
And if I can make her laugh with a scene, my day is happy.

I have two muses. One is my light-muse, the other my dark-muse. My light-muse is named Nikky, (a name I always wanted to be called when I was little), and my dark-mused is named Shadow, "Shad" for short.
Shadow is somewhat feminine, very outspoken, and deals mainly with the "big picture." She gives me overviews, themes, moods, etc. for whatever I'm creating. She's the muse who says it'd be a good idea to use this song for this AMV, or to make the clothes on this doujinshi picture I'm colouring in this colour. She comes up with the main storyline when I'm writing.
Nikky is somewhat masculine, much more soft-spoken, and deals with the little details. He's the one who has the patience for the actual work, and is the one who supplies me with the small details while Shad lazes around and bickers with him when he starts messing up her "big picture" she created. He helps me choose specific scenes for the AMV, or helps me decide where to shade in the doujin scenes. He fills in the blanks in the storyline.
They argue all the time, but somehow it all works out well.
I even have sort of sloppy pics of them...I like to doodle them bickering with each other when I'm bored and'm not in the mood to draw something detailed. (when I feel like drawing something detailed, it's usually Yugioh fanart. x3)

Wow, I had never really wondered about my muse's appearance before, but just as I was about to assume mine is invisible, I realized that I did indeed know what she looks like, because I draw her often, in stick figure form (which is interesting because I don't normally draw stick figures, but this particular one has been a recurring part of my doodling for years)
She's a tallish, skinny kind of girl with a very round face. Her hair is pale brown, straight, and constantly bedraggled. She wears a sloppy beret low on her forehead, and she's always in a dress: usually a knee-length striped one. She's very weary most of the time, looking exhausted. On rare occasions when the creative mood hits me, I draw her with her hair a little tidier, and she tends to make overdramatic arm gestures. I love it when she's pleased.
