So when you're half way though you're novel and are absolutely sick and tired of your plot and characters, what food/drink keeps your creative juices flowing? I'm a stereo-typical novelist- a good cup of tea always does the trick for me. Although, when I'm really in a slump, i make myself a cup of hot tea, and uses a piece of candy corn for sweetener. Just tasting the liquid caramel mix get me back in my groove ^_^

Coffee, definitely coffee. Regular until around 3 pm then decaf. If I'm really dragging, I add a cookie. Home baked is best, but I won't get a lot of baking time in November.

Good luck, everyone!

Coffee! Just go to the store and get all different flavors of that yummy creamer from Coffeemate, cans of whipped cream and cinnamon for topping....you can have your own little coffee shop in the fridge!
That and a handful of candy from the Halloween trick or treating usually gets me through a few hours! ;p

Red Bull. It's really not good for you, and I don't recommend it, especially for young people. Man, when you need to keep going another two hours and you don't think you have it in you....it really does the trick.

Lipovitan/Livita IS MY LIFEBLOOD. Red Bull is actually a derivative of the recipe. It comes in little brown 100ml bottles, and doesn't taste as offensive as Red Bull.

For those snow decorators in the audience: it turns your wee neon yellow :D

Hot chocolate for me. Part milk, part half-and-half and part water, with a tablespoon of cocoa powder and a teaspoon of SugarTwin. Awesome stuff.

Coffeecoffeecoffeeohmygodcoffee.

Works wonders for warming up my hands in between writing bursts, too much though and I get really fidgety and find I want to clean stuff or dance around to music like a maniac.

Sunflower seeds are my frustration snack of choice usually. That or baby carrots and hummus but considering the vast quantity of that stuff that I can consume while not thinking about it, I try to stick to the sunflower seeds.

Caffeine and nicotine! I suck down both like crazy. My espresso machine is the god of writing. I make myself lattes everyday. drink them iced so I'll make a huge batch that can last half the day. I switch to tea or coffee if the caffeine jitters strike. I'm not claiming that this is reasonable, but it works for me. A few cocktails can kick writer's block faster than anything!

To be honest, I really don't know what I've been eating. I'll type constantly without realizing that I haven't eaten in 10-20 hours. I usually notice my stomach growling when I have to stop writing to pee. Then I'll grab anything I can find then hurry back to my laptop. Whatever. Food is nothing when a novel is in the works.

Oddly enough, I have a large cigar waiting for me at 50,000 words. My fiancée is holding it ransom. I haven't had one in over a year. OK, I'm going to go work towards earning that cigar now.

Fresh brew green tea with a side of fruit slices and sometimes, the occasional bump of chocolate to keep my tummy happy. :] You know what else really gets me into a writing mood, strange enough? Whenever I eat bread with Cremoso (Brazilians know what I'm talking about) I feel really energized and ready to type. 8D

haha... I have many..

~listening to Unwritten by Natasha Beddingfield... or another song from my list of writing songs that fit the mood of the story. :) It really helps me put that mood out in the story and write.

~drinking either coke, mocha latte, tea, water, guava juice, pepsi =P

~eating chocolate, icecream, noodles, or cheese and crackers seem to be good writing food for me.. I know weird. :P

~my life, it has lots of things from tv shows, to computer, school, friends, family, stores.. that I can somehow incoporate into the story.

I don't have any. I just sit at my laptop until I almost starve to death. Then I eat and drink a little, just to go on until I almost faint again.

Ah, monomania is so fine!

Well a couple of things. This one is weird, and I don't get it, ut if I sit down with a bowl full of cut raw potatoes, I can mash out like 2,000 words in a sitting. Sure its unhealthy to wirte that much without a break [I can't just feel the carpal tunnel coming in now...] but hey, I'm getting somewhere with my book!

The other is getting out my comfort zone. I do most of my wirting in my house, in my room, but a few times during the months I like to slip off to a coffee shop and admire the cute workers while I punch out words. Very fueliscious!

The music list I have pertaining to my story helps. As does going outside and sitting on my front porch or eating.
But at the base of it just leaving my room and getting away from the story for a little while is really helpful to me. When I come back, I'm ready, refreshed and raring to go!

Always music for me. A good song, emotionally charged in a way that matches what I'm writing, always gets me going again. Sometimes I listen to it on repeat for hours as I write. I've sacrificed more than a few Coldplay songs to hate-through-overlistening that way, but they got a book finished.

Definitely coffee or hot chocolate. Non-food would definitely be music of whatever kind that fits my mood or the current atmosphere in the story.

Decaf coffee. Yeah, I'm odd. I novel at night though, so anything caffeinated means I won't be able to sleep even when it comes time to put the book away for a while. Also, muffins. I find I need something to re-energize me (as opposed to just waking me up) about half-way through my novelling session, and home-baked muffins serve well there. ;)

I'm not allowed to drink coffee, but "fake" coffee does the trick for me- it's called Coffix, and it's basically coffee, just without the caffeine. I also live on tea and occasionally some sugar to get me hyped up (and that will eventually exhaust me).

Coffee. straight or with a large amount of sugar and creamer in it.
Red Bull. It gives you wings.
Also, the fuel of all Wrimos is well let's just be brutally honest shall we? I know and all of y'all know that the fuel of every Wrimo, From Baty to the last average Joe on the street, is fear. fear drives us on, it will give us power and the will to fight and win. It lives in our hearts, it guide our pens ( or more accurately in this case) our keyboard typing fingers, and our souls. It leads us through the all but heart breaking winter of November and on to a glorious though just as cold or colder December! So gird up thy loins brethren, and take on the Novel out of fear of hate and retribution in the case of failure. Go, to that bright and glorious divine beyond! Whether you are slow or fast, the month will go by with Ludicrous speed! Gooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That and a nice triple shot from your local coffee provider doesn't hurt either.

And my hopeless determination. I decided that if I can't finish NaNoWriMo then I have personally failed myself. Augh. D:

i like a cup of my own "special mix" once a day:

- favourite cup (mine is huge and yellow)
- 2 filled teaspoons cacao
- 1 filled teaspoon sugar
- half a teaspoon instant coffee
- 1/3 boiled water + 2/3 milk

this is how i used to imagine coffee would taste, and it is the only way i drink "coffee". normal coffee is too coffee-ish for me! :P

the rest of the day i pretty much drink tap water, sometimes one of the many kinds of loose tea i have.

my writing doesn't really depend on my "fuel" but more on my being so determined to finish a project for once!

Annina I often do semi-skimmed milk with instant coffee and sugar as an after-dinner drink :) I leave a bit of the milk out and use that to make a foamy milk to put on top, I noticed that with cacao the foam disappears very quickly.
I don't know many people who also do milk with instant coffee. It's what my mother gave my little brother when he wanted to be grown up and drink coffee too.

but my Nano fuel must be tea (it is the fuel of my life really)
If there is a noise that is distracting me: playing the soundtrack of LOTR on my discman helps me get back into the groove.
