< insert mandatory introduction about write-ins >

Haha, kidding. Anyway, it's the time again for write-ins! For the newbies, write-ins are...well, a time where Wrimos can meet and write together in one place. That's basically it. Sometimes there'd be fun stuff, most of the time there would be chatting, and there SHOULD be writing. :P It's a place to meet the people you've been chatting with every weekend through the conferences, exchange stuff (TV shows? haha), get feedback on your novel and have an instant group of people who can help you get unstuck wherever you are in your novel. :D

The thing with this year in the PinoyWrimo community is that we have an amazing increase in numbers compared to last year, and not everyone is in one place. So this year, to accommodate people, we'll be having simultaneous write-ins in different places for the next two Saturdays of November (15 and 22).

This is where you guys come in. I'm thinking of having a North write-in and a South write-in (and even possibly a Central write-in). The thing is...I can't be at two/three places at the same time, so I'm looking for volunteers who can be the contact person for the said write-in.

For the South write-in, we've agreed to have it at CBTL Greenbelt 3 on Nov 15 and 22, 2-5pm. I'm not too familiar with the North area, so if someone would kindly be the volunteer for that area, then please please please post here and we'll talk. :) For Central, it's in Ortigas area, so pick a place there.

Now what happens in a write-in?

1. First, it's usually a round of introductions. :D
2. Wrimos attending a write-in should bring their writing stuff - laptop, notebooks, whatever works for them.
3. Chatting is okay, but since the purpose of the write-in is to write...well, minimize chatting. Even if there are hot guys around. :> Word wars can be done to boost productivity, and plot discussions are more than welcome.

That's basically it. Nothing too fancy, just a place to meet and write and bond together as Wrimos.

Here are some other tips:

  • Try to pick a time and location that is convenient for others, but don't stress too much about it. It should also be convenient for you.
  • Scope out the venue ahead of time, if possible, to get a feel for how it might work with a bunch of writers.
  • Tell people how they can recognize you - sticker on your laptop, table-top sign. Table top signs are printable, and downloadable from the site. :)
  • BE ON TIME. In fact, be early. Grab a table in as obvious a spot as possible. If you have a friend with you, grab two tables - or bring a sweater to hang over a chair.
  • If you have a power strip and/or extension cord, bring it to boost electrical access.
  • During the write-in, if you can stand it, walk up to people who look like they are NaNo-ing and say “hi”. They may have missed your carnation and feared they were all alone.

So again, if you're interested in volunteering for your area, please post here and we'll talk. :) I also encourage you to have smaller write-ins in the middle of the week if you guys are available and if you want to. :D Just let me know if you guys are meeting up so at least I have an idea that there is something happening, even if I couldn't go. :) Also, letting me know would make me put it in the calendar so there's more people who can go there :D

I know it would be more fun if we meet together in one place, but as of now it's not really logistically possible, soooo....we'll work around that challenge. ;) The two groups can always go online and meet each other virtually. ;)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.:) (and this post has been too long, I know)

I would suggest we have 1 write-in on the 15th, then maybe the divided one on the 22nd. If that's all right. :P

Good idea =) Midway bash on the 15th for all Wrimos and simultaneous write-ins on the 22nd.

Plus on the 22nd I can shuffle from one write-in to another, I can stay about 2-3 hours in one write-in, if it starts after lunch. That would give me room for two lang, unless Ortigas people would like to have it after dinner (sorry, most convenient ang Ortigas kasi I can sleep over my brother's place after :D).

Or we can also have another one on the 29th. Make it an all-day write in since it's almost the end of November.

So who can volunteer for areas on the 22nd? I'm seeing...QC (Trinoma, SM North?, Gateway), Ortigas (Galleria/Megamall?), and Makati on the 22nd...unless the South people want to move it further and host it at Town, and we'll go for Makati or Ortigas nalang for Central? :D

I'd love to volunteer for the North area, but the thing is, I dunno how to go about facilitating write-ins, nor am I familiar with everyone else's faces. >_< I was late in the kick-off meet and I'm afraid I don't know everyone by face, much less by their usernames.

Pero kung wala talaga, I'd go for the Ortigas-Central area na lang than Makati (which is another continent away from me..kahit ba I'm working in Makati haha!)

old-school nametags? hahahaha. ^_^ is it okay to drop by whichever write-in is nearer to wherever i'm in at the time? I might have some errands to run at either megamall or glorietta, so i might join either north, central or south.

There's a job fair at Ateneo on the 22nd, so my going to the write-in is tied to whether or not I find a job before then. :) But I can be in Makati on Saturday. Hopefully. If I don't get lost. :P

I may be able to come to both of them, but it all depends on how much course prep I get done for Sem II, which starts on Nov 24 for us. ACK! Why am I writing a novel when I should be writing lectures? Answer: because writing a novel is much more fun!

I'll check it out after work. But I won't be writing.

I'll check it out this coming weekend. I'll be writing this time.

Hi Guys! I just talked to Julie and the write-in today was canceled. Sorry for the short notice.

Mitch: no location for Central yet, but it will most probably be in Ortigas area :D

MID-MONTH WRITE-IN FINAL DETAILS:
November 15, 2008, 2-5pm
Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Greenbelt 3

Since it's the mid-month write-in, we'd be having one write in for the day just so we can all meet each other and for those who missed the kick-off to show up. :) Greenbelt 3 is chosen because it has a better non-mall atmosphere. :D Plus it's easy to reach via MRT (go down Ayala station and walk to Landmark/Greenbelt). :D And it's at CBTL because we all love that place. :)

WHAT TO BRING:
1. Yourself
2. Your plot
3. Your writing tool(s) - laptops, notebooks, pen and paper, etc.
* You may also bring some snacks but it's entirely optional
* If you can bring extension cords too that would be really helpful. :)

To those who will be going (or just thinking of going, like may pass by or what), kindly register here: http://tr.im/10j6 . This is just so I have an idea on how many people to expect. :) Also those who haven't gotten their loot bags can get theirs on this write in (but I only have limited stocks left, so the first people who sign up will get them :D).

If you have any questions, NaNoMail/YM/email or text me (0920-928-6316). :)

I got a job, so I don't need to be at the job fair on the 22nd/23rd, so I volunteer to help out with the north write-in. I'm on Katipunan, so I recommend Katipunan (if anyone else is going to the job fair), Cubao, or Eastwood.

First-time NaNoWriMo participant here.:D

Aw, I can't make it to the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf write-in. I've got a prior engagement. Hope you all have fun though!

As for the north write-in, Katipunan sounds like a good idea.:) Eastwood's kind of hard, since it's out-of-the-way - as far as I know, it's not really accessible for commuters from QC, unless you take a cab. Anyway, that's just my two cents'.

Hello! Welcome to NaNoWriMo! :)

I personally love Eastwood (haha, it's because I work there), but yes it's a bit inaccessible. Cubao or Katipunan (or any other malls na reachable by MRT/LRT) should be good places. :D CBTL in Gateway Mall is big BTW. :P Hehe. (AY CBTL na naman lolz)

Woot! I know it's off topic, but come Monday, I'll be working in Eastwood too! Hehehe.

The only problem I see with Gateway is it tends to fill up rather quickly. Kung Katipunan, Bo's Coffee is pretty big. There's also the chocolate place, Seattle's Best, and a couple of Starbuckses. :)

If it's katipunan, I'll be sure to be there. There's I think two starbucks here, a courtyard cafe (nice quiet place to write or work on a laptop, mostly) , and a cbtl maybe (I prefer starbucks though). Lots of places for just sitting down.

First time participant here.

First, I apologize for not having updated my word count at all. My mom grounded me just when November started because of a failed grade (my fault DX). I'm just sneaking here...

...but anywho, I am trying my best to type all these pages I've handwritten so hopefully, I'll have it updated by later or tomorrow.

Erm, would it be possible to have a mid-week write-in somewhere in QC? I'm personally only available on weekday afternoons when my parents don't know where I am due to my schedule :P

I agree that Katipunan is a great place. I passed by Bo's a while ago and it IS large. I heard from a friend that the net at Seattle's is quite fast though. I also spotted 2 Starbucks there. TriNoma might not be a bad place (what with Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, ftw! 8D) though it becomes crowded since it's quite the mall o.O

Did the loc get changed to Robinson's? I thought it was in Greenbelt 3 (wherever that is).

Just got home, haven't written a word all day for my novel because of back to back meetings. November is such a bad time for me to do extracurricular activity; it's the busiest quarter at work!

How was the mini write in last Nov. 12th???

Uh, so where's the final venue? Robinson's or Greenbelt? Got confused there with the email and the thread...

*edit*

Ok, I got the latest email. Greenbelt nga. Hehe. Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who attended the write-in last Saturday!

Next write-in will be on the 22nd. So far volunteers for the areas are:

North - purplyana / DeSanggria (but she'll just pass by) - Gateway or Katipunan
South - ?
Central - Tina - Ortigas/Makati (that is, if South people would go far south, like Town)
East - ? (optional. hehe. Sta. Lucia/Robinsons Metro East/SM Marikina)
West - ? (optional too? where...?)
Cebu - I know there's a lot of Cebuano Wrimos, so feel free to start a write-in next week!

I'd really need someone to take over for South and even Central. :D Time would probably be in the afternoon - 2-5pm, and there's just people writing there. No need for extra stuff. Just write. :D

Post away!

I'm really hoping for Katipunan in the north. :P Especially since Bo's is 3 stories and likely to have lots of space. :P

Another Saturday XD I really can't go, I'm afraid. I'm not allowed to go out this semester since I am, as I said before, grounded :P

If anyone would want to have a mid-week write-in for the North though, I'd gladly volunteer. I'm a UPD student so SM North, TriNoma, or somewhere in Katips would work for me :D

I'm not sure if we should be encouraging a grounded student to sneak off on a school night, hehehe.

But if anyone decides to hold a meet-up on Katips on a week night, count me in, although I'll likely arrive around 8pm due to work. Any day except Tuesday is fine. Tuesday is board-game night for me.

Cheers
