This is 11-29-08, and I just made the goal. 50030 words, but when I pasted the story in the box, nothing happened. I tried three times. Did I spend an entire month only to be turned away at the last minute? What do I do now?

Are you scrolling all the way to the bottom and hitting submit? :)

Just to make you feel better, I had the same problem and then realized I was not pressing the submit button.
So it's okay. XD

I am pressing submit. It goes through the motions then goes back to default (what I had posted before)

Could you please give us more detail on the steps that you're taking.
What browser and version are you using.
When you paste the text into the box, do you see it there?
When you click submit, does it return a word count or just refresh the page? Or does it hang and not refresh?
Are you able to enter a word count in the Edit Novel Info page and submit and have the site accept it?
Have you been using the validator before without incident or is this your first time?

Cybele,
I am using internet explorer, version 7.
When I paste the text in the box I see the text.
When I click submit it defaults back to the previous wordcount and the validation box is empty.
If I change my word count and do not submit the MS it will update the word count, but kicks it back to the previous number if I try to submit the manuscript.
I didn't use the validator before.
Also I have tried regular word text, plain text and rich text.
Any idears?

Also, I just tried pasting chunks of my novel in just to see if it would work. It will take a chapter, three, even 10 chapters, but will not accept the entire MS. I have checked for formatting flaws and everything...

I'm a little confused. It looks like you've won!
You can update the wordcount to whater your most current tally is.
Congratulations!
