Hi everyone!
I'm very excited to announce that Amazon.com has awarded the Office of Letters and Light a $25,000 grant to help fund NaNoWriMo and the Young Writers Program in 2009. The money couldn't have come at a better time. We're currently working on programs to bring NaNoWriMo into libraries all around the world this fall, increase our Young Writers Program outreach to hundreds of new classrooms, and improve the NaNo site in a couple key ways.
As you've no doubt heard on the news, it's been a tough summer for nonprofits. Foundation support is ebbing, and some of the great charities we all rely on for a sense of community and joy are scrambling to figure out a way forward. Getting the news from Amazon.com was a wonderful beam of sunshine for us in an otherwise-stormy time. Thank you mightily, Amazon.com!
