Okay, I'm gonna people to kick me in the rear to finally finish (and start) writing this year. I've got no excuses this time, nothing in the way, I'm doing it this time, dammit! :D
Glad to see familiar names (and faces) here already! Get ready to have some fun, and lots of writing.
Some of your favorite NaNo activities will be back again this year, and plenty of Write Ins. If you have suggestions for any NaNo activities you'd like us to consider please let us know, right away.
We are still in the planning stage for this year.
We're always on the look out for folks who'd like to host Write-Ins in their city, or locale. If you're interested, shoot me a NaNo mail, and we'll add your locale to the calendar. The sooner we know the better. We'd like to cover all areas of our region, and offer as many nights of Write-Ins throughout the week as possible.
Start stocking those freezers and refrigerators, tune up those microwaves, limber up those fingers and make sure those computers are humming happily.
I can't wait, though. Much too much wanting to burst out into writing. I'm writing backstories and synopses and outlines and stuff like that to hold it off.
Oh, and hi. I posted once or twice before the wipe.
Okay, I actually moved to Orange County last year, but I was still hanging with my Riverside peeps. This year, I've decided I want to meet some local WriMos.
I'm Karen, this is my 5th year doing NaNo and will, hopefully, be my 5th win, too. I live within walking distance of both Disneyland and Angel Stadium and am okay with the fact that the World Series is conflicting with the beginning of NaNoWriMo this year.
I won't be able to make it to the kick off party because of church commitments, but I do plan to attend some write-ins and would love to help in any way I can!

We're glad you're joining us this year, Karen. We have a great bunch of writers here in North Orange County.
Thanks for your offer to help. Just now we are mainly looking for people to host weekly Writie-Ins. If you can't commit to a night every week, but still want to do a Write-In or two let us know, and we'll put it on the calendar.
We haven't solidified this year's activities yet, but we may need help with one or more of those too.
Hi all, and thanks to whoever organized the region. I'm pretty intimidated by the challenge, because I'm going to be contending with a full-time job, evening coursework, and the possibility that I'll have to move out of state sometime midway through. I may be doomed, but I'm committed to giving it my best effort! I look forward to meeting the rest of you and making the most of it.
You're not alone. Many of our region's NaNoWriMos have full time jobs, or are full time students. I too have a full time job; I also teach creative writing on line. Final projects and grades will be due in the middle of November this term. Fortunately, I'm not looking at moving this year. (Yipppeeee!)
The year I didn't win NaNo I had a full time job, moved, was on vacation five days with no computer access, and I was ML for my region. Sheesh! It was still a great year. And, I did go back and finished that novel in the spring.
I read somewhere, that if you want someting done, ask a busy person to do it. I guess we all fit the bill!
So jump on in, come and meet up with everyone, and enjoy the experience. We're glad you're here!
Well, honestly, I'm a bit of an outsider. I just moved to Chino this year, which is San Bernardino county, but everyone seems to be a pretty far way off from where I am. (It was the same when I lived in the LA county, though those were less "far" and more "inconvenient to get to") But everywhere in Orange county feels like a very reasonable distance from me. I didn't work at Disneyland for 2 years for nothing, after all!
Also, I'm not going to lie, I've been swayed by your extensive activity list too. Nothing much happened in LA, and I've been dying to attend a write in or 5.
I hope you guys don't mind if a Chino kid like me joins in the OC fun~
I'm Nila, and this is my first year doing NaNoWriMo (deep breaths). I've started spreading the word amongst friends and family that they must nag and harass me to finish. I'd better start plotting! I'm bummed I can't make it to the kick-off event on Oct. 25th as I have to work, but I'm looking forward to attending some write-ins. Thanks to the MLs and Wrimos who are arranging those write-ins and giving us a chance to meet each other and write together.

Don't dispair, we don't have all of our activities planned out just yet. Keep your eyes on our calendar. More activities are coming!
And welcome to all our new people this year. North Orange County is an active area. Also, go and check out the South Orange County region. We often share our larger activities with them! And they have Write-Ins scheduled in addition to ours, that you may want to look into!
Hey, my name is Brianna and I live in Garden Grove. This is my first year in NaNoWriMo, and I'm just glad that there are other people in the OC doing this. And I also wanted to say thank you for having some of the write-ins at 7! I tutor in Brea and I'm out there until 6:30 or 7, so it's nice to know that I can be included sometimes! If you can't tell, I'm a little excited about this whole thing...and maybe a bit nervous...or maybe I'm just crazy.
Yay! A Chino person! I don't live there now, but I grew up in Chino Hills and I volunteer with a youth group that meets in Chino.
I also work in Yucaipa, but live down the street from Angels Stadium. (GO HALOS!)
I have roommates that are lovely and hospitable people, but they don't happen to be the tidiest, so I don't know if I'll be volunteering my house for any write-ins, but I might be persuaded to meet at a local B&N --free WiFi :-) but no outlets :-( or a coffee shop or something. I'll take a gander around my neighborhood and see what's available.
I won't be able to go to the kick off party because of church commitments, but I do promise to show up to other stuff this year.

I'm Sheery and this is my first time participating in NaNoWriMo. I am really excited but nervous, too! I love the challenge this presents and hope that I can pull it off. I am a stay-at-home-mom to two young children who require the majority of my time. While I love giving it to them - I also really want to do this, so --- here I go!
I'm also really looking forward to meeting a lot of you at the events. It would be awesome to have writer buddies.
Take care -

Like many of you, this will be my first NaNoWriMo as well! I can't wait to get started! Hoping the constant ticking clock of the deadline will kick my writing into gear. My previous novel took almost a year to get through a first draft an edit, so 30 days is looking great to me now.
This looks like a great group of writers and I hope to meet you all at the write-ins!
I, too, am new the North Orange County area, although not new to Nanowrimo! I'm 1 for 2 out of the last 3 years (skipped last year), and am looking to make it 2 for 3 for sure. Just started my MBA at Chapman this Fall, and can't wait for the creative relief that will come in the form of November Madness. Looks like this North Orange County group is an awesome one!
Hello again, all =) I'm so excited to see so many people!! I'm in the more intense year of my master's program (i.e. last) but I'm still planning on doing a weekly write-in as well as my usual events - the Grand Californian Write-In, the Disneyland Write-In, and the return of the Costumed Kick-Off Classic (back by popular demand!) - so hopefully I'll get a chance to see some of you there!
Peace,
Brittanie

Well...I skipped writing last year, focusing on my students during student teaching. This year, however, I hope to finish. I think I'll be able to make it to the kick-off party. I am also looking forward to the Disneyland write-in...as a former cast member I know some fun but out of the way places to write and still enjoy the atmosphere of the park.
This is my 5th year. Last year I braved two meet-ups, one sans kid and the other with. It was a good time. But I didn't finished and don't expect to this year (I know, tragically positive).
I have no idea what I'm doing this year or if I'm even doing it. But I'm here, updating my account and slightly preparing. And by slightly preparing, posting on the forums is all I've done!
