Hay,

I know that there's at least two other Wrimos here at BYU-I, but is there anybody else here at college or in the town of Rexburg who is taking on this challenge?

By the way, I'm Casey Jewels. I've been writing for the Boise region for the past two years, but now I'm at college. I've been writing since the sixth grade, but I haven't actually completed a novel... I'm nearly finished with my NaNo novel from last year. I'm actually planning on getting it published.

This year I'm doing a fanfiction, because I'm just not really in a position to start a brand new book that could possibly be published. It's a Pokemon fanfiction, but it's not the usual storyline. My character is a double agent in a land at war, but not even she knows whose side she's really on. I've had this idea in my head for years and this year is finally giving me a chance to write it down.

Anyways, enough about me.

What about you?

Hey, I'm Amanda. I'm not in Rexburg right now (I'm in Winter-Spring track) but I just wanted to drop in and say hi. I'm going to be a new freshman so I wanted to see if there were people I could meet once I get there. :D

This will be my fourth year, and I have three different ideas of what I'm going to write--one is fantasy/steampunk, one is sci-fi/political, and one is about vampires. I haven't decided which one I'm going to do, but I'm leaning toward the sci-fi one.

^Hay there.

You just made me realize that I forgot to mention my real name... I'm very careful about those kind of things when online, but it doesn't really matter for this thread... My name is Samantha, also known as Spam.

I'm on the Spring-Fall Track, so maybe we can meet during the summer. I'm a freshie right now, but I'm really enjoying it here. And you're beating me in years. This is only my third year doing NaNoWriMo, as I didn't know about it before. I love it so much, though.

Anyways, I'll see you then!

My daughter is in love with Pokemon. She's read every book out there, has all the movies and gets the magazine every month. She also has games for her DS. I'm excited. I hope you'll she your story in the end. I love the plot idea.

Thanks! I don't know any of the new Pokemon... I haven't had a chance to watch the show in years and I don't have a DS... The third generation of Pokemon is when I came up with Martina, so that's where I'm staying. I got into Pokemon after everybody else and then never grew out of it. My older brother actually got me into it, much to my mom's dismay. He came home from his real mom's (my dad and his mom divorced a long time ago) with Pokemon cards and other various Pokemon things. This then got me into them. I was in elementary school at the time.

And I do plan on putting up this story online at one point. I'm not sure when that will be because I want to have it done and edited before sharing it, but... I'll be sure to note you when I do post it online. Just as a precaution, though (as I don't know the age of your daughter), this story will be more violent and such than the shows are. However, I don't write extremely graphic nor do I use foul language.

Hey, I'm a student at BYU-I as well. My name's Kendra. This is only my second NaNo year, and after the fail of last year, I would love to have people around that I can do write-ins with and stuff. You know--keep me focused. Focus is good....

This year, I'm working on a science-fiction/fantasy book. It's already got about 25k words in it, but it has at least another 50k to go and I really need to finish something since I have yet to finish writing a book.

Hey everyone. This is my first year doing this (I just found out about it). I got one of my friends to do it with me but he is off track in Texas at the moment so it's nice to know there are other Rexburgians writing :) I am participating because I have been working on one of my novels (trying to finish it before I graduate in April so I can publish it) but I just can't finish things. So, this will be training for me to start and finish a book in one sitting without second guessing/editing everything. Since I am in creative writing and have no idea what to do with myself when I graduate... I need to publish before then. So... here's hoping this will bring a great book out of me. I usually write Young Adult Fantasy and Science Fiction (like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Hunger Games, etc.) For this contest, I am doing something that is a little different. It's still Young Adult but it is actually more contemporary realistic fiction with a twist of fantasy in it :) I love wolves so the point of the book is going to kind of against those people who are going out and slaughtering them with no real cause but without making them look like complete monsters. I am certain people will hate me for it, but could care less because I think Wolves deserve some respect and to be left alone (touchy subject here in Idaho).

I am from a small town in Colorado known as Berthoud (doubt anyone here has heard of it) and I love animals. Most of my books include a character that is a shape shifter and she, of course, usually prefers her wolf form over others. :D I am such a geek. Speaking of being a geek... I have the pokemon theme on my phone XD I tried to watch one of the newer episodes and couldn't... it's changed without really changing... if that makes sense :D I think the best ring tone I have though is the one I have set as the default ring at the moment... the theme to wishbone! :D YEAH! :)

Anyway, hmmm... I could talk about myself forever. Lets just say I love too many shows to keep up with them, I love writing and reading anything creative, I love making videos (I am definitely a youtuber, same username if you want to look me up, I will be doing either a weekly or daily vlog of my efforts at NaNoWriMo), and I am single. Sad, but true :) I love "A Very Potter Musical" for those of you who have seen it on youtube (those kids are brilliant) and am therefore going to my ward party as Draco Malfoy tonight (I think that should be my profile picture here) XD

Okay, I should stop. I write like I talk... way too much :)

Hello Rexburgers - I'm in Ashton and I'm not sure how to use this EMAIL to find out if there are more writers in the upper valley. I am planning to go to the event Tues. at the IF library - hope to see you there. If you know anyone that is N of Rexburg. Tell them to contact Nicole. I'm interested in getting a group together closer than IF. Are you going to the IF event tomorrow?

Hi! *waves* I'm Thyla (though I usually go by Rebecca). I'm a freshman at BYU-I, and this is my first time doing NaNoWriMo.

I kept thinking about doing in the past, but November always seemed to be over before I realized what it was ;_;

But.... I'm here now *dances*

Hey there, HealthyWealthy. I'm in Ashton, too! If you are who I think you are, you probably recognize my name. If not, I always like to make new writer friends. I'm going to try for the event tonight in IF. Carpool? Maybe we ought to plan our own write-in at some point in November over at 5-11 Main or the Taqueria.

Breanna:

Your post was interesting to me. I'm a native Idahoan and have always felt an affinity with wolves. (I'm old enough to be your grandmother, at 53). I've been politically active here in SW Idaho, have run twice for the State Legislature and lost. I'm a Democrat in a very conservative town. One of the things I am passionate about is the Idaho wolf population. It does seem to be a polarizing issue nowadays.

There is a website you might want to look at. http://wolves.wordpress.com/ A retired professor from ISU is the moderator. Sometimes there are some stories that will make you very sad, but all in all, it is a good summation about the activities in the western states concerning wolves.

Here in Meridian, we have a lot of guys driving around in big trucks with bumper stickers that say - "Kill a wolf, Save 100 elk". You and I know that the reason elk populations are down is from changes in the habitat. As keystone predators, wolves are a necessary part of the western ecosystem. If you look at some of the older posts, on the website - it shows evidence that Yellowstone drainages/riparian areas, have actually improved since the reintroduction of the grey wolf. The wolves are a natural control on the elk, who then keep to the higher ground, and don't trample the streambeds up as much as they did previously.

I look forward to hearing more about your writings. I'm a fantasy fan. But my book is more contemporary fiction categorically.

HEY!!! I know a Kendra here at BYU-I too, but she is an art major and I think she is a senior....just something random that I don't know why I mentioned....so yeah....

I guess that I can go by Jon here. That is my name. I am from California but I am up here at college for the fall/winter track and I just got back from my mission. This is my first time attempting to do this. My girlfriend got me interested into at least trying. I mean, it is a really interesting idea to try and write a novel with 50k words in a month and I wish that I had more time to dedicate to writing a novel. I don't know if I will accomplish it within the month die to how much time I have to dedicate to my studies but I will try. I haven't even really thought about what I am going to write about. I have been concentrating on an a big English essay whose due date is slowly creeping up to get me. Nice to know that there are fellow nanowrimo writers here at "The Burg." Nice to meet you all.

Howdy Everybody! My name is Amanda, but I am down in California since i am winter-spring. This is my first year for nano, and my first stab at a real novel, but I have been writting stories since before I could even write. I am a Junior/..... I guess? this year. I am an English Ed major and I love it! So you all enjoying the cold? It was a balmy 90 degrees here today hehehehehe sorry! Don't worry I will be freezing soon enough. But i was actually introduced to Nano through a friend who goes to BYUI...I wonder why she's not on here. Actually in my novel I mention a church school in Idaho.hehehehehehehe then again my 2 MCs meet in a rehab faicility......hehehehe Anyways my novel has an ulterior motive. I am self publishing it and giving it to my best friend for Christmas because the 2 MCs are based off of us and a crazy story I came up in the middle of the night one time. Yeah.....the rehab facility is representative of Freshman Academy 2007. Any other FA's in the Nano? eheheheheh love it!

This is Nicole in Ashton - I'm up for meeting in Rexburg as well. Name the place - I'm flexible. The turned the MATTRESS PLACE (in same parking lot as JB's and Broulims) into a CLEAN POOL HALL (I don't mean the building is clean either) Never been there, but I'm sure they have plenty of room.

oh i noticed that too! That could work maybe we could have a vote? Narrow it down to a certain number and then just choose which one. I was just wondering I have never done anything like this but we would need to call before hand and reserve it right? So if we narrowed it down to three I could call all of them and figure out which one would work best and would let us write there.

agreed I am one of those with a laptop so of course I would check to see if there was internet access. But again if there is only word users maybe we wouldn't want internet as a distraction lol but I will check to see if their is internet access. Were you saying that there is another rexburgwrimo? If that is what you meant then where and when is it?

I'd be interested in meeting up.

Don't know how I missed this conversation...

Anytime after 5 works for me on weekdays, as my last class ends at 4:15, though I have the Writer's Workshop on Wednesday, so that would be a bad day. Saturdays should work as well. I don't have a car, but my cousin will most likely be able to drop me wherever it is we decide to meet. I don't know where anything is in this town, so I don't really have any suggestions.

I will be going home over Thanksgiving Break, however, so if the write-in is next week I won't be able to go.

EDIT: I have a laptop, but I don't have to have Internet access, just somewhere to plug in.

Alright! In opinion the best place to meet would be the cafe at the college or THE LIBRARY! I can't believe I didn't think of that before! Anyway reasons for the cafe: It's pretty big, I am pretty sure it's got outlets and you can get food there lol the reasons for the library which if we do it there we should do it by the cafe mckay (that's what it's called right?) on the tables anyway reasons: We should be able to get internet access, there is food :D, there should be outlets and it should be really quiet as it is a library. Opinions?

Edit: Saturday would work for me and five would also work. So this saturday 5-8?

YES - the LIBRARY GETS MY VOTE - WHAT DAY - WHAT TIME? I'm leaving town in the AM and will be away from my DEAR INTERNET - so if we can come up with date and time before I go - that would be great. SATURDAY LATE AFTERNOON is perfect for me. We'll need a minimum of TWO HOURS FOR SURE and I'm not sure what time the library closes

Okay! So I have decided! lol jk but here is what we will do unless somebody has objections, the first wrimo will be this weekend on saturday at the library (or the cafe if somebody has an objection) it will be from 4:00 to 8:00 (the library closes at nine for your information) the next wrimo will be on monday the last day of nano! It will be from 4:00 and go till forever lol just until 11 (closing time) or as long as we want to stay there. Does this work for everyone?

I talked to my cousin and we're leaving to go back home for Thanksgiving Break Saturday morning...

We should have got this going sooner. It looks like the Monday one is the only one I'll be able to attend.

Monday the 23rd of Monday the 30th? I'm game and cam make both dates - they are actually better than Saturdays now that it's been proposed - I like it.

How do I get your books from the last three years to read?

Are they published?

YES - this works for me. It will be fun to put FACES to all the WRIMOS names for everyone. I should be in attendance at both the SATURDAY and MONDAY events at the Rexburg Library.
