Hi!
I've tried during past NaNo's to see if anyone in Clallam County, particularly PA or Sequim, wanted to arrange a few working session meet-ups. I was using Itty Bitty Buzz on Sundays during the last NaNoWriMo to work, but also like Blackbird Cafe (which has reliable wifi) and in Sequim have used The Buzz.
Perhaps some fellow NaNoWriMos would like a pre-launch get-together and maybe a mid-point and finish celebration meet-ups to keep us going?
Just thought I toss the idea out.

We tried so hard last year, but only one girl showed up. Hahah...
Our procedure: We'll be meeting twice a week (if sectylady can't host both, one can be at my house), starting the week before NaNo and ending the week after.
However, those are meetings where we can get together and discuss. If we want write-ins and such (which the Buzz would be amazing for), we can totally arrange those too.
Do you have some kind of IM service? I like to keep in touch with people in these situations. =] You can NaNoMail it to me, if you do and don't mind sharing.
Yeah. Nutrition, World History, English 101.
What time's his English 101, and who's his teacher? He may be in my class.

I'm back! Again!
What days/times are the meetings, usually? I suppose my coming would depend on how busy I am at the time... It would be easier for me to attend in Port Angeles, but I'll try for both. And my younger sister would probably come, too.

Generally Monday and Friday, around six PM. This is negotiable, though, especially if one of them's to be at my house.

Fridays at six totally and gratuitously fail to work for me. I have work. D:

Like I said, it's way negotiable. Saturdays might be an option rather than Fridays. It really just depends.

November is freakish for me this year, in that I don't have too many commitments. Monday and Friday evenings work well, but I'm open to Saturdays as well. Communicating this way is best for me as I will drive four thousand miles out of my way to avoid a phone conversation with ANYONE. Just ask my long-suffering Irish Mammy.

Myes. Anyway, Monday and Saturday *might* work for me, moreso than Friday, anyway. But then if I get into that play like I'd like to...eh. I should be able to make one of them at any rate.

Hi All!!!!!
Sectylady is finally BACK!!!
(I moved my whole office and rearranged my house--still in process but it will be warm and inviting come November.)
We have a certain home-spun, lean back and kick your feet up, fire in the wood stove ambiance.
Okay, last year we did the Halloween night kick off at my place. It does fall on a Saturday night this year.
So, shall we say Sat night the 31st at 6pm is the official kick off? People can bring something to eat/drink?
I have some interested ppl too, maybe 3. I so hope you all can come over. Ha ha--perhaps some will want to dress as one of their characters....we had some costumed guests waft in last year.
I just put one of the nanowrimo desktop wallpapers on my computer. Cool.
We could have a pre-kickoff get together on the 24th of October. What say ye?

No, we didn't do it on Halloween. I remember because I was somewhere else at the time.
Possibly the 30th instead, by any chance?
The 24th and the 30th work/have my votes. :D

Nuuuu, Fridays and Saturdays are baaaaad. I can probably get off work for the kickoff thing, but doing so regularly ain't gonna happen unless I were to be chronically late, which I do not like to be.

You can come to the kickoff, that's what matters.

I know I won't be able to make any of the Monday meetings, as there are symphony rehearsals at that time every week, but I'm not sure if Fridays or Saturdays are better. My family usually has dinner at 6, so it's possible I might have to be late either way...
Can't make anything on the 31st, though, since I'm going to be out of town. The 30th is more possible, if I don't end up really busy.
If there are any get-togethers in Port Angeles, however, I might be able to come to more of those, since they're closer.

well, I am not opposed to other nights--Thurs, Fri, Sat, or Sun nigihts.
LOL I thought it was Halloween-- you had just come from a party, Spiritual Masquerade, if I remember correctly.

I'll miss the kickoff, either way. I'm out of town the wknds of the 24th and 30th... Keep me apprised of anything in November and I'll be there. Thanks!

Sorry to hear that. =/ Not all of our meetings will be during the weekend, and I'm sure there will be write-ins during any significant-sized gaps.

Secty and I just talked, and here's what we worked out:
OCTOBER 24 (friday) - 2 PM - The Buzz
This is our pre-kickoff party. We'll get to know one another and our NaNo ideas, have coffee or hot chocolate, and... yeah, get acquainted. The Buzz is in Sequim, but we'll try to make some of the gatherings a bit closer to Port Angeles for you PAians out there. This will also be when we start to discuss a weekly schedule. Please please please, try to make it? :D
(Arpy, this'd be the night you take off of work. Just so you know. ;D)
OCTOBER 30 (saturday) - 7 PM - Secty's house.
KICKOFF! You'll get directions at the 24th meeting, but don't fret if you can't make it to that one, just message sectylady and she'll give you directions. There'll be tea and snacks, though you're free to bring your own. This'll be where we get together, talk about writing, deal with our NaNo jitters... A bit less meet-and-greet, a bit more 'AHHH, NANO IS TWENTY FOUR HOURS AWAY'.
We'll be having meetings at least once per week during NaNo itself, quite possibly twice per week, with some write-ins scattered around in between. It's alright if you can't make it to all of them; we have a lot just to make sure people can make it to at LEAST some of them. Though most will probably be in Sequim, we'll relocate to PA sometimes. (The PA library, perhaps?)
Feedback, comments...?

Okay, hoping this doesn't post twice but I thought I'd just replied and things disappeared.
First, Oct. 24 is a Saturday and Oct. 30 is a Friday. I hope that isn't a problem.
I will definitely make the pre-kick-off meeting Sat., Oct. 24 (or Fri., Oct. 23) at The Buzz. I will know by then if I can make the kick-off Oct. 30 (or Oct. 31).
Unfortunately, I have to teach classes on the first two Monday nights in November (11/2 & 9) and I'm heading to Bob Mayer's Writer's Workshops on Whidbey Island on Friday, 11/6, so I'll miss those gatherings.
I usually head to a PA coffee shop with WiFi on Saturday or Sunday mornings for a write-in during NaNoWriMo if anyone is interested. (Obviously, not the weekend of 11/6-8 since I'm at the Writer's Workshops). Originally, I used Itty Bitty Buzz on Sundays, but their WiFi became very unreliable so I've switched to Blackbird Cafe at 8th and Peabody. However, the last time I was in Itty Bitty Buzz the WiFi seemed to be back and functioning so if someone wants to meet and prefers that ambiance, I'm flexible. Feel free to email or PM me.

Is anyone else interested in going? It may make it a problematic for us to get back to Sequim before 8-9 pm given Halloween traffic and the ferry.

I might or might not be able to make the October 24 one, since there's a lot of music stuff going on that day and I don't know at what times exactly... I'll have to see. If I do come to the October 30, I probably won't stay long, because of the trip the next day, but still, that would be better than nothing.
As far as PA goes, the library would be great for me. I can get there almost any time -- as long as it's not schooltime and there's nothing going on, of course, haha.
